I'll never not come here on these restless nights. Theres so much to like, but that music though... even the screaming from the device when he bombs out of the tree. I dunno, its weird to say but its 2:56 am where i am and this video is like a comfort video for me.
This is my favorite piece I ever bought it has made my day much easier and more productive and I'm no salesman its costly but for a good reason and if you get one get the dyneema strap version it makes a difference
Hi there Chris. The SJ can be fantastic in a belayed speed climb... but it can be an absolute disaster! If the guy tailing you pulls too hard when there's slack above the device you can bind a loop onto the wooden block. Needs a gentle touch!
good clear video, been a hitch man for years but maybe this year i will go mechanical. it would be nice to have the sjack 2 with inbuilt swivel though. inspiring vid nice one
Well, it's like this, and You are absolutely RIGHT when You say, "everybody has thier own style" I still climb everyday, today was a 600 day for me, and I use whatever will make my job easier, and make it easier to achieve our goal, "get in, and get out!" Today I just had to rope down this oak real fast, and get it in the ground, and we used the front-end loader to stak up the tree debris, It's all ranches and farms and same thing everyday,Hazardous tree hanging over a house,I will try this tool
I never know what to say to comments like this. I guess pretty much all tree climbers started off using a hitch similar to the one TommyLog33 describes; I know I climbed on one for about three years or so. Yes, you can get everywhere in the tree. No, the knot doesn't self-tend, or let you move as smoothly or as fast. I guess it depends on your style of climbing, and what you want to achieve: I like finishing sooner, working smoother, and not having so many aches in my shoulders any more!
ok im tossing up between the siderjack 2 and the lockjack sport which one has the more control and predictability ? Hope you can help. PS Top vid that was realy helpful cheers
At 1:36 She says "The spiderjack will respond very differently to different ropes" I was trained by a Vietnam Vet, who taught repelling out of helicopters. No devices like these, I grew up using a "Monkey knot" people call it, 2 on bottom, 2 on top. As I have gained more body size with age,I find that that knot has to be adjusted, 3 on top, 3 on bottom. It is a very safe knot, and when used correctly, you can do all the things here, and more, No device required.
hey guys im a fisherman and have some rocks/cliffs i need to descend and ascend from the top down, i like the look of this but would it work for me going down and then up again on my own?
Hey do you guys think you can compete in a balayed speed climb with this the way it handles? I know with my hitch climber set up with the valtation tress It seems like I have to be able to pull the rope down towards my lower chest as compared to directly into a device . . .just curious , thinking of getting it.
Having a much harder time with mine than he seems to be having. Got a new Marlow 11m arb rope and its jerky as hell, cant get it to release without two hands then cant stop it with the thumb only.
