I love your channel bro. I'm 38 living in cambodia now, but used to inline skate a lot in my childhood in germany. Now I found a concrete skate hall here which is empty like every morning and i can't wait till my USD Aeon will arrive in the next weeks : D back to blading!

This series about coping is just great, as an old skater I also struggle to lose my bad habits from years of ledges skating.

Hey law. In the 90s in NZ we always called rolling the coping a 50 50. Where you have one foot rolling the top of the ramp and one rolling below the coping.

It's funny I grew up skating in the bay area too and like you said all ledge skaters, now I just turned 39 and copping is a mystery to me now that parks are literally everywhere. Like starting at square 1.

I am trying to learn how to do any coping grind, I just can't figure out what am I not doing right. Now I recently followed the advice that you have to roll over the coping. I was unable to learn how to roll over the coping with my 56 mm wheels. I kept bumping in the coping and falling down. Now I tried slightly bigger wheels 76 mm :) no problem rolling over that coping now :) Now I am training rolling over the coping faky and faky stall. Really scary stuff for new guys. For some reason I have no problem jumping on the coping, airing out, 180 back in, but rolling over the coping ... I need SUV wheels to do that I don't know how normal bladers do it.

Hey. I still do 50 50s on vert. It's an actual trick. You can do alleyoop ones, ones to fakie and ones coming up from Fakie. Also switch ones.

This was a fun video and some great tips!

As a beginner I find a mizou to backside switch up to be the easiest. Rather than the other way around. Mizou is a really solid stable base to jump out of and I find switching into a groove trick the aiming doesn’t have to be as precise as switching into a soul. The other thing I’ve been thinking about a lot: Your older videos where you started to practice mini ramp a lot, you talked about feeling like it was very hard to consistently get the right speed in order to lock in the grind with your body weight in the right spot. And now you have the “riding the coping” to practice that and are warning against jumping up to the coping. But what I’ve been thinking about is rather trying to get the perfect speed and angle all the time to hit the coping, I’ve been practicing being able to hit the coping no matter the speed and angle: coming up to the coping fast? Carve more before you hit it to transfer your momentum down the coping rather than over. Coming at it too slow? Jump! If you’re coming at it too slow now is the time to jump like it’s a ledge. I think being dynamic and reading these situations is what will make us more consistent

Learning a topsoul on a ledge will go a long way in helping you get the hang of it on coping, esp if coping is not your forte.

I enjoy following your coping journey because it sort of mirrors mine: I never skated it when I was younger, but have recently started to work on a handful of grinds. Did a 270 out of a soul this weekend and it made me want to start working in more spins as well.

Sweet spins in! I find topsouls weird on ramp too, rather topacid or sweaty, you got the 270 backsides?

I should try, would be switch but normal spin

@@BacktoBlading you got it, just backside stall from a slight angle and you’ll slide. Lmk how it goes!

you should get some clear acrylic to protect the mural instead of the ply

Top Soyale has always been my Achilles heel. Then I finally got into a groove where I thought I had it in the bag. Then I'll go & sesh days later & it'll look like I never laced it in my life. Then I'll just start attacking the grind with this fierce determination or what I'm perceiving to be as determination but it's just really frustration which usually leads to failure. Just regroup, move on to something else & revisit. take a time out & clear your head. In the meantime, you can ship me my Stefan Brandow v3 bundle I ordered Lol. J/k...but not really. #shipit

You need to be honest with yourself dude because if you think you've got that Top Soul "fairly consistent" then you're just fooling yourself. I'm not saying that to berate you but it's just not a good look when you're making tutorials for things you can't really do as well as you think you can. You're just opening the flood gates for trolls that do want to berate you. Social media is a toxic place & the trolls are relentless

Is this a tutorial on how to do a top soul? Like most of Law's videos, I took it as his own attempts at doing specific tricks. Sure, he offers tips that have helped him along the way, but I don't think he's trying to make how-to videos out here. But you said it best: "Social media is a toxic place & the trolls are relentless."
