This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.

And, this is why we call her the Goddess Voice of Nature. She was created by the Gods and given to Mother Earth to bring joy to the world. She does this time and time again.

I listen to Diana daily. I hear her voice in my head when I'm not listening to her. She's magical.

Great and honest reaction. But don't sell Diana short. She has over 300 songs. In All types of music From rock, to opera. And everything in between. You have only seen the tip of the iceberg as to what she can do with her voice. She was 14 here She's 20 now. And you can see her get better and better with each passing year. There is a version that this song appeared before Christianity, and since early Christianity and paganism were closely intertwined, there are many versions of this song. It tells how an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about how my mother, father and brothers were killed by enemies, there is no one to take care of her. The river in Ancient Russia was considered the border between the world of the living and the dead. You hear an ominous whisper, it's the spirit of her late mother responding to the girl's crying. There are about 30 variants of this song, but the content of each of the variants is based on the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for family, to strangers.

Great reaction to the incredible singer Diana Ankudinová. She lives every song she sings. You felt it right in this composition, its meaning of the Russian story. Diana is an open channel to ours ancestors and to other dimensions for me. The Slavs were and are a spiritual nation, and Diana showed it in this composition, where she goes from the height to the absolute depth - we have that in the older Slavic songs of Our Ancestors. Huge respect and admiration for this young lady, I am completely enchanted by Diana. I can feel everything he sings, how he plays with his body, voice, emotions. You might appreciate Diana even more when you learn a little of her story and how she started singing. Diana started singing at age 5 as a remedy for a bad stammer caused by her traumatic early years. She was abandoned by her mother (or taken away by the authorities) at age 3 ½ after years of neglect and abuse and spent 1 ½ years in an orphanage before being adopted at 5yo by a wonderful woman and her family who took on the task of rehabilitating her. It was quickly discovered she loved singing, was very good at it, had a good voice and a superb musical ear (and perfect pitch according to some). "Rechenka" = little river......this is a very old Russian folk song.......the singer is an orphan (poignant, as Diana was abandoned as a child) about to be married.....she goes to the river, the place where the living can talk to the departed and asks her deceased Mum to bless her marriage and protect her during her life.................Diana was sooooo young here !

Initial releases of this performance didn't have multi-language subtitles, but everyone who listened to it understood that it was ancient and deeply emotional. She has an incredible ability to walk right through our souls and "educate" them! A very special young lady, a very special singer! You should watch again and put CC and subtitles on in English - but it may confuse you more! 😊 This is my take on the song ( two good friends translated and explained for me). *THE SONG (As Diana sings it here)* "You are a river.
