Thanks for the reaction to Diana, Melvin. It should be clarified that this particular performance was not on a talent show - Diana had already done those very successfully. The premise of this show called "ShowMaskGoOn" was to take established singers out of their comfort zones and get them to sing in various genres, they then critiqued each other - the people in the stands were the other singers and they were as dumbfounded as everybody else! This video is from September 2021 when Diana was 18 years old - she is now 20 and her career is progressing nicely even though she is still studying at GITIS, a prestigious performing art college in Moscow. Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. Wonderful reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired in the fall of 2021, and ran for 9 weeks. Diana was 18 at this time. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course of the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. Diana is 15 years old in the following video, singing a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, giving it a more "tribal" sound. She's a contralto, even at the age of 15, has a unique and otherworldly voice, and a commanding stage presence. She is performing on the Russian TV show You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged children to display their talents that they otherwise would not be able to. Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest, as they say, is history. He's a singer with a range extending further than a regular piano keyboard, singing opera, pop, rock, and folk in 15+ languages and even rapping, plus a composer and a poly-instrumentalist), and Angelina Jordan (you could start with a performance from when she was only a little child, "I put a spell on you", and pick up your jaw again).

This performance took place during the inaugural season starting on September 25, 2021, of a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!”, when Diana Ankudinova was 18. Diana has said she was unhappy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and that lack kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies, so along with her voice teacher she decided to concentrate extensively on improving and developing her upper vocal range. A female singers vocal range helps to determine and define her voice type. During this “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, her vocal range was measured and Diana’s functional vocal range goes from a low of C3 (male Tenor range) to a high of B♭5, (female Mezzo Soprano range). For the new “ShowMaskGoOn!” competition, Diana’s first performance of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can't Help Falling In Love”. She demonstrated what many vocal professionals have been saying since Diana was 14, based on Diana’s previous vocal competitions, and concerts, she has now developed into what many believed she always was, a true contralto voice type. For those that do not know what a contralto voice type is, a contralto is the lowest, and deepest type of female voice, and a true contralto is very, very rare. During the opening of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” Diana’s low Contralto voice is on full display. The improvement to her upper vocal range is also on display during the middle portion of this performance and finally, the depth and power of Diana’s voice during the final section define her as not just a Contralto, but as a “Dramatic Contralto” voice type, and a Dramatic Contralto has the lowest, deepest, darkest, richest sound and it is the most powerful. Diana's contralto voice type is the rarest of the very rare Contralto voice types. At the end of this performance, the full power of her Dramatic Contralto voice is on full display for everyone to hear. The "ShowMaskGoOn!", concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, the judge on the top row stands first is a well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan. He was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this inaugural competition. At the end of Diana's performance she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is also a well-known contemporary Russian singer, Julia Parshuta. Julia is in the center row dressed in in red, and looks totally lost at the end of Diana's performance. She puts both hands on top of her head, and looks totally shocked, lost and bewildered. Finally, The Show Must Go On competition concluded with Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points over the total of 9 weeks, and was declared the competition winner!

for those who don't know: Diana was abused and abandoned as a child - was MUTE - spent early years in a Russian orphanage - her adoptive Mum provided speech and voice lessons as a way for Diana to overcome her trauma - she is a natural Contralto (the lowest female vocal range) and can sing multiple notes or tones simultaneously I think she's amazing.......
