@@sebastianm8051 to be fair, most of them were following the diamonds orders. Spinel decided, on her own accord, to destroy Earth and leave Steven there alone to get back at someone who was no longer alive.
@Frost Flurry That moment when you forget that Spinel is still responsible for her actions and pointing that out as well as defending Steven is completely valid. He is not in the wrong for how he behaved, he's human (that is to say is not perfect), not to mention super tired at this point. Nor is he a psychologist so it's not his fault that he didn't know Spinel would react the way she did. Not to mention the original comment is about Steven and Spinel so why would they bring up Pink Diamond?

I dont want to have bad intentions I don't even truly know what mines are
I think a lot of us can relate to Spinel more than any other character in way. A good portion of us has kinda lived through this.. It’s nice to see it represented in a show and addressed for once. We all hate being that one person that gets trampled over and forgotten, used and abandoned. It’s even worse when you still can’t stop caring for those people despite all of this..
I was that as a kid and it still affects me as an adult where I have mixed trust issues with people that even the people I do trust I worry if I’m being too much or they just may up and ghost me
I think he was more worried about the implications of his jacket being damaged than the jacket itself. It meant that the sludge kills organic things, so Steven was realizing how bad of a situation Earth was in.
And then Stephen "fixed" it by just giving Spinel to the Diamonds so she and the Diamonds couldn't bother him anymore. Stephen really became just like his mom in this movie and I'm glad the SU:F show addressed it.
Yeah i think that was one of the concepts because this was just to get the spinoff started ,which kinda consist’s of Steven working on that .He even has his moms pink tantrums and outburst when he couldn’t get his way .
If you pay attention at the very end of the movie. When Spinel about to go to the diamonds. White diamond said"Steven since this planet is so disgusting. We just Spinel and we can leave you here on Earth." Steven: Really 😃🤗 Spinel:uh Steven really wants to get rid of her The moment that white diamond said
I wish she would've seen more of her. Honestly, with Steven feeling like everybody was leaving him behind, she's the one he should've gone to. She understands that.
@@jermikefavors8344 I don't think he intended to get rid of her. I think he was happy for a chance at her finding three new companions. He even asked afterwards if she was comfortable with it.
She definitely reminds me of the "that kid" cliche. Overly hyper and annoying, knowing no boundaries, but is actually a wonderful person that might not know how to socialize like others. Anyway, 15/10 would adopt and be best friends, just need proper communication and boundaries.
The argument that she tried to kill them is okay, but he forgave dozens of gems for that before. Also, I mean, she was abandoned for 6,000 years when she was designed as a playmate for pink.
If I'm being honest here, spinel has one of the saddest backstory's of a cartoon character. It genuinely made me feel bad for spinel when I watched the movie.
Pink diamond was worse, she was abused by the diamonds, they made her look not worth it, they would trap her in a tower for god know how many years, sh did hurt lots of gems, but if you look at her at the end, she is the best with character development, she was that childish kid (from the abuse) to this majestic being.
@@bedebe1 “A chronic condition including attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness. ADHD often begins in childhood and can persist into adulthood. It may contribute to low self-esteem, troubled relationships, and difficulty at school or work.”
... this mirror is scaring me. Turn it off. In all honesty, this was the exact same for me. Except I had two friends! But one wanted to play with a different friend all the time. And the other strung me along as if I was still her friend when really she wanted to be with the *popular kids.* So basically, I had my own pink diamond! YAY! trauma is just *so exciting* NEVER know where it's gonna pop up next! Anyway, Spinel's new look after finding out what happened is such a fucking mood.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It effects the frontal lobe of the brain by not allowing dopamine and other chemicals to enter that part of the brain. The frontal lobe is where all your executive functioning is processed. Executive functioning meaning prioritization, motivation, organization, impulsivity, certain aspects of memory…basically all the skills normal people identify as signs of a responsible adult or a well adjusted/behaved child. It’s genetic and often gets misdiagnosed with Asperger’s/high functioning autism and/or bipolar disorder. They share some similarities, but you can have combinations of all those conditions. I have ADHD, generalized anxiety, and severe depression. I definitely identify with Spinel. ADHD is one of those conditions that can affect your life in a lot of ways people don’t expect. It’s very easy for authority figures and peers to assume certain behaviors are intentional out of spite or laziness. We often get labeled as having poor work ethic and questionable morals. Usually those behaviors can actually be attributed to symptoms and aren’t reflections of who we are as people. We tend to be absentminded. We may be late for work often, forget birthdays, have trouble with social cues, impulse buy and forget to pay the bills, have trouble with deadlines…We feel emotions more intensely so sometimes we can be overly expressive or have trouble regulating ourselves emotionally. My brain has trouble differentiating between foreground and background so in a crowd I may as well be deaf because everything is the same volume. I’ve learned to read lips to help me focus on what people are saying. Because of all these various factors, people with ADHD tend to be both loners and comic relief. We’re impulsive, entertaining and enthusiastic, but we also easily piss people off and often times we have no clue why they’re angry and avoiding us. It’s likely a symptom that has been mistaken for an intentional offense. Spinel’s mid-fight rants and anxiety driven paranoia are what get me crying. In grade school getting me to trust you just enough to get a favor out of me and then publicly dropping me became a sport for the other girls. My parents were old fashioned and assumed it was because I hit puberty too early. A big chest meant I was fat and ugly girls aren’t going to have friends so it was my fault I couldn’t lose weight at 9 and I deserved everything that I got. That was my family trying to help. I can recall times when I’ve actually said some of Spinel’s lines almost word for word over the course of 30 plus years lol. I’m 43 and I start sobbing during Spinel’s breakdowns lol.

I had to watch the movie in separate blocks because of how uncomfortable it made me, the whole thing was just as you said, an emotional trainwreck quite literally. Actually the whole series made me remember a lot suppressed memories. My psychologist really wanted to see it after that.
I love Spinel, but Steven hasn’t learned about her past yet. All he knows her by is the gem that destroyed all of his friends memories. I feel like he’s sees her as just,, that, for most of the movie. He’s focusing on the main problem at hand. Steven learned her past and then once they fixed the whole injector problem. He really was gonna forget and be friends with her . I mean it took like three eps and a few song to do it with the diamonds.
why you say "It took 3 episodes" like it was a lot? It took an entire season to do the same with peridot, and i felt great! but with the diamonds... it felt forced and super easy.
@@tale7955 I think he meant it like it was quick? Because 'three episodes and a song' isn't a lot. They probably just mean that Steven forgives others quickly, so once he found out why Spinel did what she did and who she really was, he was quick to forgive her.
Yeah, I feel Like everyone keeps forgetting that. Sure, leaving spinel like he did wasn't nice, but he's also not perfect. Shocker, huh. He also has alot of things on his s mind and is trying to deal with this unprecedented situation. So, you can't completely blame him...

I don't think it's only that but also cause prior to Steven's knowledge of her past properly she attacked him n his friends so he didn't really trust her
Honestly though spinel deserves better than even Steven she saved his life and she doesn’t even get a thanks or a nod or anything Steven exposes: he cares more about his jacket than all his friends
this part is really crucial for the series, we can see here that as Steven grows up he gets more and more traits of his mom up to the point we get into Steven Universe: Future we can see Pinks actions from Steven

I feel really bad when people call her a horrible character, because I sort of see myself in her. I often fear I’m becoming annoying to people, that they don’t like me anymore and when the opportunity comes, they’ll ditch me for another better friend, someone who isn’t so irritating. She’s always seen following Steven around like a dog, because she’s attached to him, so much to the fact that Steven gets tired of her. To be honest... if she would have stayed in the garden then the jacket wouldn't have been harmed. So it's her fault that Steven's precious organic jacket got hurt. That thing was more important than his whole family 😆
I understand Spinel was abandoned for *6000 years* ,but imagine a gem suddenly comes to your planet, destroys your happily ever after, erases the memories of 3 people who are REALLY important to you, almost destroys your entire planet, and all because of a mistake that wasn't yours. At the final moment he was indeed being a jerk, but at the beginning he was trying to get the memory of the gems back, and he didn't even know what happened to Spinel. He's definitively getting tired of fixing his mom's mistakes. At the end you can see this clearly, where he just wants his life to go back to normal as soon as possible so he can focus on, yet again, fixing the mistake Pink did. *But the organic jacket moment was just trashy, no excuse for that.*
I think the "organic jacket" symbolizes how much of a threat the injector was. How it easily burned his earth made jacket I think he was thinking what the injector would do too the earth

This is such and interesting concept, because on one hand she's cleverly innocent and you can't help but feel bad for her because of what happened; but at the same time she's so clingy and forces herself to be the center of attention so much that it's hard to actually /like/ her.
Pink: Can you imagine running a colony this dull!? Spinel: * Cough * hey Pink I was wondering if you forgot your friend who was made to give you entertainment?
I believe in the theory that Pink Diamond didn't want to leave Spinel behind, but felt like she had to in order to focus on running a colony in order to impress the other Diamonds. It's obvious the other Diamonds had made Pink feel miserable and unimportant to the point why overtime she looks so miserable around Spinel, no matter how hard Spinel tried to make her happy. I wish I could've heard the conversation between Blue, Yellow and Pink in Spinel's flashback, but to me it looks like they're telling her something along the lines of "You need to FOCUS on getting this colony finished, don't let anything distract you, understand?", Kinda like the weird gem version of confiscating a comfort item from someone in school to work on a test or something. It's also the reason why Pink was afraid of the Diamonds catching her goofing around with the Amethysts on Earth with Pearl. Pink still wants to have fun and good off and I really wish Pink didn't leave Spinel behind, and maybe she considered getting her back before or during the war, but at least in my eyes I understand why it happened.

I love how this movie depicts people that just want to be friends with others, but everyone else treats them like crap just because they think their enthusiasm and friendliness is "annoying".
I mean, Spinel is a bit annoying, she's clingy, loud, obnoxious and always out of tone, not to mention she is responsible for the planets endangerment.
As you can see. Spinel took nothing seriously. I mean when Steven literally almost *died* from her injector she had the audacity to make it a joke with a fishing rod. Someone who did take things seriously would freak out and quickly run to save him
Steven kinda shows that he's acting like his mother, if someone or something is of no use to him or he doesn't care about them as much,he doesn't want them around for a long period of time.
I feel like he's just too focused on getting his friends back. He puts this new friend aside to get his old ones back. Since Spinel did this, that would probably make him want to avoid her, too.
@memelord I understand that; I feel like people treat Spinel as baby way too much. What Spinel went through was terrible but that doesn't give her an excuse to act the way she did, and I agree that Steven isn't everyone's therapist.
