Every August it happens. From out of the ashes of an abandoned old store rises a glorious sight - Spirit Halloween. We usually build most of our Halloween props and decor, but we’ve been wanting to get some Halloween Animatronics so we decided to check out what they had. We really wanted to see some of the big props like the Bog Zombie and Nozzles the Clown in person. We were not disappointed. Not only did they have really cool animatronics, but they had some amazing Halloween props and decorations as well.
They had a bunch of cool decorations from The Haunted Mansion, Hocus Pocus, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Trick ‘r Treat. They also had the usual suspects - tombstones, fog machines, masks, makeup, and Halloween costumes galore. We got to see Shorty from Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Grim the animatronic skeleton, and Barry the caged zombie in person. They didn’t have Lord Raven out for display, but it was available for purchase.
We weren’t planning out it, but we ended up getting a bunch of stuff! We can’t wait to show you our haul and do some unboxings of our new animatronics!

My ex-father-in-law did the best thing one year. The family lived close to the road & he put a scarecrow (gloves & hat pulled low, covering the face) in a chair out on the porch early in the Halloween season so everyone got used to seeing it. Then on Halloween he brought it in; undressed it; dressed in it's clothes & sat out on the porch. He scared EVERYONE.

As someone who owns Empty soul girl on a swing I'm warning you now, that this doesn't come with instructions at all. So good luck with that. How I did built it was by looking at the side view on spirits website. Also, pro tip, there's a tiny hole in the back of the dress that you should know about, that's there for a reason and that reason is to put the dress on the thing first then build her up.

The sitting scarecrow is a neat one, but you'll want to move the motion sensor out of the back of his bowl. It will open up the possibilities you can use him for.

I’m a teacher and I had a super amazing aide who would cover those masks with plaster cloth and paint them. She did this with the kids and used modeling clay to make long noses or scars or whatever under the plaster. It was super easy and way fun and they all got neat masks they could wear or hang on a wall or use on a scarecrow. 100% recommend.

I recommend getting the stick and peel prosthetics (specifically from party city) because some of the latex prosthetics at Halloween stores are really bad quality and are hard to blend

As someone who had to assemble a swing girl animatronic, I highly recommend that you make sure you have a ton of zip ties, to make sure she doesn’t go forward off the swing! Also you may need some extra weight so she stays balanced!!! Can’t wait for your next project!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

For the latex. Stipple a layer on face, then a layer of toilet paper (if it's 2 ply, year it apart) and rip it into ragged edged pieces. Then another layer of latex. Rinse and repeat for however much you want. Then you can go in with tweezers and rip small holes here and there in the latex and then paint it for a nice burned look.

Fursuit maker here! Look up refermces on birds and maybe bird fursuit heads. You could use fur fabric as short feathers and have real longer feathers is certain spots. Maybe find a ribbon of feathers and layer it. Not sure how cheap you can make it. But 100s of indevidual feathers are tedious and a mess when they fall off.

Make sure to visit that store the day after Halloween. It will be slim pickings, but you can get some amazing deals. Also, some stores throw parts their stock away a few days or week after Halloween. I know some people who go Spirit Dumpster diving. It's usually things like costumes, big ticket items are worth shipping/storing to sell the following year.

I grew up in St. Helens, OR where Halloweentown was filmed. A close friend recreated the main pumpkin for the plaza for the display there. And Disney had asked him to make changes since he made it too close to the films likeness.

Might I suggest buying a full sized skeleton, wrapping it with plastic wrap, then hitting it with a heat gun? The plastic wrap will melt and shrivel, giving the skelly a more “decaying corpse” look (after have painting it of course)

Making a cool Kruger glove can be easy. I made one 20 years ago. I bought stainless steel steak knives from a dollar store and ground them down to the shape I needed with a table grinder. I bought a sheet of copper metal from a metal supply store and was able to cut pieces out of it to form the finger gauntlets. I bound the blades to the fingers with JB Weld. Then I attached everything to a gardening glove (bought a pair new, threw the left glove away) with rivets I bought from a leather jacket store. It turned out really nice.

I got a really good rubber scarecrow whole head mask last year. Because I am really good at sitting still. In the run up to Halloween he sat on my porch wearing my clothes and I moved him to a different position every so often. But on Halloween night, I wore the outfit! Wish I'd had more trick or treaters. But it was really good candy and "teal pumpkin" toys, so maybe this year.

we bought about 50 of the plain white mask last year sprayed them with Neon colors and hung them to the black walls in our haunted house.... added some black lights and the polka dot stickers you use at yardsales and boom instant freaky blacklight room!

I saw a burn tutorial, where she took an empty Elmer's glue bottle, filled it with liquid latex, did crazy patterns on a sheet of plastic. When it dried she peeled it off and stuck it on with more liquid latex.

If you're worried about it being too hot on Halloween night come set up here instead. Usually it's below freezing. You'll need a parka under Freddy's sweater!

I have the Ghost Swing prop. From experience, you want the anchor point of the swing mechanism very firmly attached. I set mine in our front yard tree across a Y pair of branches using a length of 1x4 covered with creepy cloth to help hide it. Apart from the swing mechanism's velcro anchor, I also put zip-clamps on as needed to ensure that only the swing arm moves. If you don't do this, some of the swing motor's effort goes into moving the whole mechanism instead of just the swing arm.

I have been watching for a lil while to get ideas love seeing what you come up with! I was wondering if you had something that could be used for a crystal ball also use the hands in the cauldron holding the ball with fog coming out of the pot with fake flames around the bottom? like when the witch is looking in the cauldron hand the hand is coming out of the fog holding the crystal ball?

I wanted a large cauldron that a ground breaker skeleton could lounge in & tried making in with a kiddy pool, it wasn't great, but it worked. I ended giving it away when I moved 2 years ago. So last winter I still wanted a large cauldron & used a PT ball as support form for paper mache cauldron ( I used water down white glue & craft paper) it worked better than my 1st try, but PT balls weren't as big as I wanted. This year I figured out Amazon sells really large beach balls. Up to 12', yup 12 feet beach ball!!! I bought a 5' beach ball, as I'll need to have it break down to 2 pieces , so it can go through doorway. Haven't started it yet & might just do a giant jack-o'-lantern with it. Good news is if you plan accordingly, you can open the plug instead of popping the beach ball or PT ball and it simply peels away, than reuse it again. I made a giant bobblehead vintage cat and a giant vintage look trick or treat bucket, than I'm currently working on a paper mache slimer to hold the trick or treat candy I give away in his mouth, so far it's working out great & PT balls and beach balls are a good investment for any paper mache work. Id love to see your take on a paper mache build of your choice, with a PT or beach ball. So

Looking at my Lord Raven right now and I was able to purchase him at my Spirit. Plan on sitting him outside under my one tree and have a ravens hanging from the branches for my Halloween party.
