The pony express was a great endeavor. Many young men gave it their all. But I do not understand why the 3 founders used all their money to put together this enormous project when by 1856 their was over 12,000 miles of lines on the east coast reaching out past Detroit, Michigan and by the same time their were telegraph lines up and down the west coast. By 1858 the lines ran from San Francisco to Genoa, Nevada. The writing was on the wall. The telegraph was here and would connect from the east coast to the west coast. Three great men blind to evolving technology. Such a waste.,.,.,.,.
