This iconic ride in Japan is the last Splash Mountain in the World since the one at Disneyland CA and the Magic Kingdom have been re-themed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure. We grew up riding this log flume at the U.S parks and were excited and feeling nostalgic. We enjoyed experiencing Br'er Rabbit on his journey to find his laughing place and the 52 foot drop and large splash didn't disappoint in fact the camera was drenched and we had to turn it off to wipe it before entering the iconic Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da finale. Unfortunately the finale didn't have the wow factor of the Disneyland CA version but we did enjoy our ride and hope Disney leaves this ride just the way it is. What do you think?
Story
The plot behind Splash Mountain is based on several Uncle Remus stories as taken from the animated segments of the film Song of the South. The attraction tells the story of Br'er Rabbit, a mischievous trickster who leaves his home in search of adventure. Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear, the antagonists of the story, are determined to catch him. The sharp-witted Br'er Rabbit avoids a snare trap and uses it to trap Br'er Bear instead. Br'er Rabbit continues on his journey to find his "laughing place". Out of curiosity, his adversaries follow and Br'er Rabbit to leads them into a cavern of bees. Br'er Fox eventually catches Br'er Rabbit and threatens to eat him. Br'er Rabbit uses reverse psychology on Br'er Fox, begging him not to throw him into the briar patch. Br'er Fox then throws Br'er Rabbit into the briar patch (the ride's flume drop); Br'er Rabbit escapes uninjured. Br'er Rabbit resolves to remain at his longstanding home in the briar patch while the other animals rejoice at his return and Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear are last seen narrowly escaping the jaws of Br'er Gator.
