Dollywood is Wholesome and entertaining. Plus you have a Whole Town outside of Dollywood with Soooo much to do, For Everyone!! I've personally spent an Entire day at Ripley's Believe it or not, and didn't go into the mirrored area!! Even the Titanic museum I spent a good part of the day there

I agree it deserved its own separate original ride. Disney gave up on Splash years ago. They fixed like 3 broken things for the 50th and the things they fixed broke and they didn’t fix them. The management at WDW just doesn’t care anymore. Rides are down more and more.

i live in japan and it’s because 1. tokyo disney is not disney at all. they just pay royalties. oriental land company has their hands tied with a whole new park opening so they can’t also remodel a ride. 2. splash mountain is MUCH younger in tokyo, so, as of right now it makes a lot more financial sense to just do regular maintenance and not remodel. need i remind you the animatronics in florida weren’t even working towards the end. 3. japanese people don’t care about racism and 90% of them are racist. there’s a reason it’s extremely hard for gaijin in school, work, public life etc. there’s a a class system in japan and gaijin are at the bottom. ESPECIALLY poc gaijin. racism is really bad in japan so why address it?

It was probably a combination of expense and loss of institutional knowledge. With the job losses they've experienced and their desire to drive out those who aren't full onboard with 'the message' its possible that an imagineer who could have made the changes to that she looked like Tiana within budget had possibly been let go.

Keep in mind that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is not intended to create an attraction to feature Tiana. It is intended to REPLACE Splash Mountain. They could have built a Tiana attraction without tearing down Splash Mountain. But the purpose of the project is to destroy Splash Mountain. Likewise, the Disney live-action remake movies are not really remakes, they are REPLACEMENTS. Iger the Terrible and his High Priestesses do not want to build on the Disney company’s legacy. They want to replace it.

Sadly for them, these less than replacements stand alongside the stunning and magical originals that all of us still own in our home libraries. Those originals are what most of us Disney fans will pass down to our children, not the woke remakes. But, like you said, they ARE trying to replace the originals, and in the case of Splash Mountain, you are 100 percent correct, they ARE replacing it

I had thought replacing Tom Sawyer's island could have been a place to create a new area with newer IP and drive visitors to an otherwise empty area. It could have had a new ride and food venues. That's still possible, But maybe more oriented to Frontierland.

yeah, no original memorable music... wouldn't it be cool of your log were 'taken over' by spirits on the other side and flung down the water flume? Rides need a story, they need to involve the rider, you need to feel like you matter in this 'adventure' if I were doing this ride, I'd 'cast a spell on the log' so riders were turned into frogs floating down the bayou, on our way to meet up with Tiana. we' eventually meet up with her and there would be some kind of shennanigans with a magic powder or something that would change us back in the end- we'd fall off the edge of the drop land in the water below and POOF back to humans! this is how you involve your guests, make the ride worth it, and the story make at least 60% sense

It doesn’t look like New Orleans. Also, they can’t even get beignets right. According to Mickey views the ones they just started selling near Splash Mountain named Tiana’s Famous Beignets aren’t fried and they are actually croissants loaded with powdered sugar. Like wth? Maybe their motivation is to make people just miss the real New Orleans from the amazing food to some of the sights. But I doubt it. Disney just wants people to visit fake New Orleans where they can’t even get the food halfway right.

What this is telling me is that the removal of splash mountain had no plan. Their thought began and ended on "We need this gone because it's problematic." The ones making the decision did not account for the logistics or the mechanical aspects, nor did they think of the investment needed to overhaul the ride into something new. They wanted the original gone and replaced for political reasons. They honestly thought that the only thing they needed to do was to put a princess and the frog coat of paint and be done with it.

@@animezilla4486 Multiple things. Tiana is the main character of the Frog movie and presumably the attraction, but they skimped heavily with her animatronic. A lot of the work done on the ride appears to be superficial, with the track and general layout of the ride being unchanged. The exception being the blowout ending and the restaurant afterwards. Plus all the rumored production trouble, that I can't really say if it's true or not. It gives off the feeling of being a substitute for the original. You don't tear down a popular ride and skimp on the replacement if you felt it needed to be redone. You do that when you want to keep the general structure, but need to change the property surrounding it. Likewise, all public discourse surrounding Splash Mountain's removal has centered squarely on racial talking points. And I'm not talking about youtubers reacting to it's removal or opinion videos. I'm talking about trades and literal news coverage from legacy media. All of it painting the picture that there was nothing physically wrong with the ride, but that it was removed due to being "offensive" and "racist." I'm not going to argue with or against that statement, because that is irrelevant to my point. I only mention this because that is the impression Disney wants to give out. It gives the impression that the ones in charge wanted to earn easy political points. "Let's turn a popular ride to a more progressive alternative, but otherwise leave it unchanged. We'd make a statement the press would eat up, but still have the ride as is which means it wouldn't affect our park performance. After all, who cares about Splash mountain specifically? It's an old animation that nobody remembers. So long as the ride physically does the same thing, people will enjoy it all the same." It's the same pitfall that happened with New Coke.

The water tower with the words “Tiana Foods” was not in the concept art. It makes no sense to add it. They make it seem like a restaurant instead of a ride. The only thing remaining is food samples in the end like the Boudin Bakery Tour.

You know, the flowers and plants do look really good in and of themself. However, I can’t help but wonder just how well they’re going to survive the heat and the sun and the hurricane force winds. Not that I’m pessimistic but the lights in Epcot breaking down after just month calls into question just how well something low-tech will stand up to the test of time.

That worries me too about how bad the avengers multiverse ride is going to be when we get it at dca soon. It’s such a shame that they canceled the original e ticket quinjet ride, that would have saved the land. Although that was back when they were still actually trying and hadn’t chased off all the good imagineers

The worst verdict is that tiana bayous adventure will be just another log flume ride. Log flume rides are popular but nothing special. Splash mountain has managed to become more than a simple water ride. Tiana bayous adventure? I am not sure.

I do not know maybe Tianna was stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction. We should give Disney some benefit of the doubt... The animators are probably saying what the hell........ The actual look of the attraction exterior Disney cannot use the phrase: "ITS ALIVE!!!!!!" for the Frankenstein experiment gone wrong. That belongs to Universal...... I hope Disney does not go crazy with projection screens for the inside effects...

People who admire Iger's politics generally don't have a great sense of true or false, right or wrong, good or bad. That's why the assumption that so-called progressive politics will make people & places nicer, kinder, more tolerant & compassionate easily ends up doing exactly the opposite of that. However, Disney's 2nd park in Anaheim built over 20 years ago, before the Disney Co was as "lefty" as it is today, was quite a dud. Also, Disney's newest rides in Beijing & Hong Kong aren't widescreen-projected-image extravaganzas due only to politics. But all things being equal, Iger's ideology is making a bad situation even worse.

Changes to the ride aside, Walt would have lost it if he saw sheet rock clearly visible to guests. None of it was scrimmed off or covered with go away green. When we recently visited the park, this was something I made note of. Things are getting very sloppy at Disney and it all will reflect in this new crappy ride.

It's a little-known character in movie most have never seen. Hardly worthy of a land. Nobody was even asking for a ride. The Braer Rabbit theme worked because it appealed to something child-like in everyone in a way this never could or will.

Let's start a pool. How many months behind schedule will Tiana's Bayou Adventure open? Two reasons for delay: opening in the summer means subjecting a new ride to stress with minimum preparation, and there have been construction delays because of the weather this winter. Money might be a third delay--if they can't pay the construction crew on time, the construction crew will work on other projects that do pay them on time.

Besides the topper, what is the likelihood the Tiana is not going to be portrayed as a princess? Are Princess now bad in the current definition of Disney Lore? In the past, Disney would spare no expense to achieve the best attraction/experience possible.

What gets me Pro & Vash is that some of those concept pix show the new Tiana animatronic with about 6 or 7 animal animatronics, and the ones of the new "Take out the boat and make it a building" finale scene pretty much use up the REST of the total number of animatronics we have been told are ALL there are in the new ride (vs the many, many more in the originals in L.A. and FL.) so...what's LEFT in the rest of the ride? Projections only? OH, and you know what just occurred to me? Tiana in the movie has the tiara. The WATER TOWER on the exterior has the Tiara! But the animatronic OF Tiana IN the attraction? Nope. Not a Tiara to be found. Indiana Jones Tiana??? ROTFL! More like a Groucho style: "My name is Tiana Spalding, the Salt Dome Moss Explorer. Did someone say I'm a bore-er, Hurray Hurray Hurray!"

there is a difference between not having the money and not being willing to spend the money. The company is trying to squeeze every last dollar out of the parks and have cut spending on the experience in the park. That is why maintenance and new rides are suffering. The think people will come to disney no matter what so lets go cheap. So far they are right.

Yeppers, it appears to save money they used the same internal frame (blueprints) of the Belle animatronic. For the outer mask-skin, they did some modifications to her nose. They had to use the same Belle head mold to match up with the internal frame & machined parts.

It's funny that when it was announced Princess and the Frog was replacing Splash Mountain, everyone on Reddit rejoiced and said "Good because I'm not racist." I pointed out that 1) all new attractions don't have the same magic as they were able to acheive in the late '80s and early '90s and 2) Splash Mountain was pretty stellar in terms of its music, imagery, set design, the creepy parts, etc. and 3) there's nothing racist about a ride with bunnies and foxes -- even the "Tar Baby" was changed to be tricking Br'er Rabbit with honey. People said I was being unfair and the ride was in bad shape anyway so this will improve it. I pointed out that all the reskins they do on rides always makes it lose what the original ride had and nothing has ever improved a ride via a reskin. And now it's all coming true. People are so quick to follow the herd that they didn't realize how asinine it is to correlate Splash Mountain with racism. And now one of the best rides in the parks is gone forever (at least in the USA).

I’ll speak as someone who was excited about this ride. I loved splash mountain, it was very nostalgic to me but being unable to watch the movie it’s based on is an issue. I’d rather them make a splash mountain movie like the ride that isn’t problematic like Song of the South. However, I love Princess and the Frog and was hoping for Tiana to come to the parks in some way. The original concept art was beautiful and I was happy that the ride itself wouldn’t change. I am incredibly disappointed at how their design changed from the concept art. It doesn’t look like Louisiana at all, it doesn’t look like anything in the movie. I would be happy with the ride if they went through with the original vision they had.

I find it interesting that the other audio animatronics, like the Frozen ride or Mickey's Runaway etc... have faces that are projections yet this one apparently isn't? Would have been better off just making it all new.

Personally, I think the Tiana animatronic looks serviceable. That said, when it comes to the Disney brand, I don't expect serviceable, I expect phenomenal; something top tier. But the company has lost the magic years ago.
