Q: The songs that are listened to have been chosen from comments on the members only announcement community post for this video, right? Because I'm wondering if Ebb and Flow (Octo version) really wasn't in the one that would have recommended Fly Octo Fly, or at least in any comment, which tbh would seem a bit weird. Anyway, nice to see that the Splatoon series got another video not really long after its first one. And boi is there still a lot of songs that could be reacted to! Surprising though that the people who recommend chose more the ones from the 'background' in-universe groups instead of the ones from the Squis Sisters, Off the hook or Deep Cut tbh.🤔

Members get told a week early what the next vid will be and the opportunity to suggest specific themes - i then also refer to top 10’s and other vids to fill the video and try to give a range of songs to react to - I think that’s where we got fly onto fly from which may have been a mistake on my part - but it’s all taken into account when setting up the videos for Emily There was a time crunch this week (hence the thumbnail mistake) however so ebb and flow may have been missed

(Octo) plays during a boss fight against the Splatoon 1 player character in a corrupted/possessed - Ink Me Up is one of the battle themes that played during Splatfests (a sort holiday/special event in the Splatoon world) in Splatoon 1 - Entropical was the music playing during the trailer for the Splatoon 2 3.0 update - Fly Octo Fly is the first phase of two of the final boss of the Octo Expansion, the DLC story campaign. - Into The Light is the finale/credits theme for the Octo Expansion - The group you saw in the Fly Octo Fly video was Pearl (the short, pink/white Inkling) and Marina (the green/black Octoling) that made the group Off The Hook - the main idol (celebrities) of Splatoon 2, and important characters in the Octo Expansion.

The breakdown in "Into the Light" is actually a callback to "Color Pulse", another song by Off the Hook (the two girls you saw during "Into the Light")! They're essentially the "hosts" of Splatoon 2, and they would perform "Color Pulse" in the main hub whenever a Splatfest was going on. They're also the best characters in the whole series. Imho

So, Splattack! (Octo) is the Dedf1sh remix of Splattack! by Squid Squad, which was essentially the main theme of Splatoon 1. It plays during the penultimate boss of the Octo Expansion, which is the mind-controlled Agent 3 (the player character of Splatoon 1's story mode).

The thing with Splattack! Octo, is that it's a boss fight vs a mind controlled character from Splatoon 1, so the song is from Splatoon 1, but broken and choppy since they are not themselves Sashimori as a band doesn't sing, they remix human sounds into their music, so in reality, the lyrics don't make sense to us or them, it's just random noises they used because they sound cool And no, the songs have "lyrics" but the developers explicitly said they only made them sound cool, so there is no real meaning or translation for the squid language. There are alphabets that have been translated, but again, it's all made to be more cool than anything important And finally Chirpy Chips the band (or in japanese ABXY the cooler name) is a band that mostly makes music out of old game console sound cards like game boys, NES and the likes, so everything is 16 or 8 bit, including their edited electronic vocals
@Fuzunga
@Fuzunga Год назад
Fun fact: The last song is by a band called The Chirpy Chips, and the vocalist, Harmony, actually doesn't a bitcrush effect on her voice. She runs a shop in Splatoon 3 and actually naturally sounds like that when you talk to her.

Into the Light makes a lot of sense as an anime outro song, it's the closing music for the credits of Octo Expansion. Into the Light was also used outside of the game in Nintendo's 'thanks for playing' video on the game when the final live event ended, so alongside being the in-game credits theme from the DLC, it also feels like the credits theme for the entire experience.

There aren't really official lyrics but there are occasional bits of "actual" words used mixed in with the gibberish inkling language. For instance in the song "Inkoming!" you can hear them say "incoming" (obviously) and the opening lyrics have "ink o sink" said in them, etc.

You’re exactly right! Each idol has their own voice actor, and the idols have different voice effects and are placed in different ears. On top of that, each idol has their own singing style. For example, Pearl does more rapping/yelling in songs, while Marina has more flowy vocals.

@chaoticdumbasspan5571
@chaoticdumbasspan5571 Год назад
Doing this again lol. Here’s all the music lore. Splattack! (Octo): The original Splattack! is an iconic song by Squid Squad, a band credited with influencing the modern music scene of Splatoon’s world. This version is a remix by Ahato Mizuta, stage name Dedf1sh, an octoling DJ so dedicated to her art that she’s gone through a process known as “sanitization” to remove all thoughts of doubt and worry from her mind so she can put her all into her music. Dedf1sh’s music has been described as “memetic”, not being tied to any one genre. In this instance, the genre is glitchcore. For context, this song plays in a boss battle against a mind controlled Agent 3, the player character from the original Splatoon. Given that Splattack! was the original Splatoon’s main theme, it would only make sense to make a broken remix for the fight. Ink Me Up: Not much here that I didn’t say last time. It’s the Squid Sisters and it’s a song for Splatfests. Just as peppy as ever. Entropical: This song by the band Sashimori has an extremely unique sound to it, mainly thanks to its vocals. Previously a rock band, the group gained a young DJ by the name of Paul who often sampled from other artists. For songs such as Entropical, they sampled from ancient recordings containing voices unlike the evolved sea creatures of Splatoon. With this, it’s heavily implied that the vocals in this song are chopped together samples of human speech. Seafoam Shanty: One of the band Bottom Feeders more energetic songs. Inspired by ancient sea shanties, they combine classical Celtic music with punk rock. The band is extremely competitive, both with other music groups and with one another. More than once has the band been at risk of breaking up thanks to the arguments between the betta violin player Finn Feeder and the seaweed vocalist Tangle Feeder. Oh yeah, the vocalist is sentient seaweed, mozuku to be specific. He speaks by rubbing parts of their body to create noise that imitates speech. Fly Octo Fly/Into The Light: A presentation of Off the Hook’s variety in music. These songs were part of the Octo Expansion (For the final boss and credits respectively), a dlc story heavily influenced by 80’s aesthetics which you can definitely hear in this music. As of Splatoon 3, Off the Hook is collaborating with Damp Socks, which you heard in the previous video. Blitz It!: A Splatoon 2 song by one of Splatoon 1’s classics, the Chirpy Chips. This chip tune rock band hit in big back in the days of the original Splatoon. Though they may not be as mainstream as they once were, they still have a dedicated following in the indie music scene. Of note here is the band’s lead vocalist, a sea anemone named Harmony. Aside from the idol groups, band characters are very much in the background. Everything we know about them comes from developer interviews, Art book, cd jackets, etc; But Harmony has broke new ground by appearing in Splatoon 3 is a shop owner you can buy various decorations from. Actually, perhaps “tired part-time worker” would be a better description of her profession.

AAAAH! I'm so happy you reacted to Spla2n's OST as well! Anyways, this means that I've got EVEN MORE to explain, ahahahah~ To answer your question about there being official lyrics... There is official lyrics! For alot of songs. Though, they're all gibberish. And I have most of them memorized... (help) According to the wiki, all the songs that have lyrics are: Calamari Inkantation City of Color Ink Me Up! Now or Never! Bomb Rush Blush Tide Goes Out Maritime Memory Color Pulse Ebb & Flow Acid Hues Muck Warfare Nasty Majesty Shark Bytes Fly Octo Fly Ebb & Flow (Octo) Into the Light Hide and Sleek Smeared Canvas Anarchy Rainbow Fins in the Air Til Depth Do Us Part Yeah. Alot. Side-rant here, but one thing I love about the lyrics of Splatoon songs is that they do actually incorporate SOME English. For example, in Inkoming!, they say "Ink o sink", as a callback to Squid Squad's song, Ink or Sink. Not only that, but in Ebb & Flow (Octo), they say Splatoon in the lyric "Parineishun shurida *spratun* ". (They say it in Inkoming! as well, though.) Also, in Fins in the Air, they actually say "put your fins up", specifically in the lyric " *Puchofinza* timare". Side-rant over, back to explaining the songs you listened to. Oh, Splattack! (Octo), my beloved... The song that plays while you're fighting Agent 3 in Octo Expansion while they're partly "sanitized". (Basically...zombified. Since it's only partly, though, it's more similar to mind control.) It's a remix of the main theme song of Splatoon, Splattack!. Ink Me Up! is actually a Splatoon 1 song. It played during Splatfest battles. ENTROPICAL!!!! Aaaaaagh, I love this song so much! Entropical is a song made by the band SashiMori. SashiMori is a band that takes "ancient vocals" (presumably human vocals) and mashes them up. So it's like... a Splatoon song. Well, I mean-- of course it is. But it's like... the Inklings making a Splatoon song???? I have no idea how to explain it without me just sounding like a complete idiot. The vocals are mixed by a young 10-year-old Octoling named Paul. It plays during normal battles. Seafoam Shanty is a song by the band Bottom Feeders. It plays during normal battles. I can't put it into words how much I love Fly Octo Fly. It's the song that plays during the final battle in Octo Expansion, when you're playing Turf War on the NILS Statue to stop it from sanitizing Inkopolis. There's usually another song after Fly Octo Fly ends, known as Ebb & Flow (Octo), which is a remix of the Splatfest battle theme Ebb & Flow (duh), that you sadly didn't hear. Oh, and Fly Octo Fly is a HEAVILY remixed version of the Test Passed and Thang theme from Octo Expansion. (The Test Passed part is the very beginning, and all the "WOAH-OH-OH WOAH-OH-OH-OHHHHH" parts, while the Thang part is Marina's "Rimaniawa nuenbonafi, tayuzonasta, moijuneni" part at 10:13.) Into the Light is the credits theme of Octo Expansion...which, may I add, made me cry. For an extremely small side-rant, Pearl actually says "octos" in this song, at 13:20, where she goes "Gimiwa *okto* kuy *oktos* ", which is pretty cute. Oh yeah, and there ARE two vocalists. Pearl is the pink girl in the image and the one with the higher pitched voice, while Marina is the turquoise girl in the image with the calmer voice. (heard at 12:43) The part at 13:51, after Pearl goes "Narastafreyo taraktarascha reddan!", is a callback to the Splatfest plaza theme, Color Pulse. The dance on that part in the concert version is really adorable, may I add. And finally... Blitz It! is a song by the band Chirpy Chips. It plays during normal battles. If you liked that song, you'd love their other songs. I have a crippling addiction to explaining things about Splatoon to people. I am so sorry for the extremely long comment. Still though, thank you so much for reading!~

So canonically, Seafoam Shanty was made by a Celtic rock group which has a seaweed dude as the lead singer. All the more enjoyable with the lore background known.

About whether or not there are official lyrics: Idk about most of the 'normal' songs done by the in-universe groups, but for some songs like Fly Octo Fly, or Calamari Inkantation, there actually are some! But iirc they're in booklets included with the ost game CDs that aren't that common, and might have been in kanas, but fortunately people have translated them into romanji (the japanese name for the usual alphabet we use), so if you find them, you can try to leark them. I sure did for Calamari Inkantation and Fly Octo Fly.

It's funny to me that she is vibing to Into the Light, not realizing the player character just escaped being blended into a paste, then that paste being used to practically lobotomize other characters. I love the sweet, innocent world of Splatoon :)

RIGHT!? That's like, (a bit personally) a criminal offense/hj Because, she listened to Fly Octo Fly, and it's obvious with the lack of a real spike in hype and its end that there should be smthin else directly afterwards. And she listened to the songs just before and after it back to back, so why wasn't it on here?

4:07 that part is actually from the live concert lol. You must’ve chosen the live performance one. Yes- people actually go to these live concert’s where the music groups play and sing as holograms and there is a live band playing with real people too. They’ve had several concerts too. Kinda cool and funny how you picked that up lol

Splattack is the main theme of the saga. It isn't in the base 2, it is on the DLC of the 2. It's composed by the artist Dedf1sh. She's dead so don't remembered well the number of 2015 during 2018. Ink Me Up is from the first game. Every song of Squid Sisters (the girls of black and white hair) is supposed to be pop. Entropical is supposed to sound like an anime opening. Fly Octo Fly is the theme of the final boss of the DLC (the DLC is centered on Pearl [the white girl] and Marina [the black girl], which form the band Off the Hook). Into the Light is the credits song of the DLC. Sounds melancholic because it marks the climax of the platonic friendship of Marina and Pearl since 2015 to 2018. Blitz It is a theme composed by Harmony and her band. The song have chiptune because Harmony is suppossed to be like a young nerd girl

Not sure if this has been recommended yet, at least I haven't seen it in this comment section, which is criminal, but Donkey Kong. The series has great soundtracks all around, but for a more recent pick, Tropical Freeze. Busted Bayou is a must-hear.
