I like how at 4:30 that all of you Teamates are saying "Ouch" becuase they know you about to get Splatted. Also thanks for telling me what Comeback does.
First, I didn't know Comeback and last-ditch effort were that strong :O I never used any of those abilities because I thought they were much worse so thanks for teaching me But I'm going to use Comeback now much more often as I'm a very agressive player... And I litteraly fell off my chair at the good team part xD
I never knew how good comeback was! I kinda just stay with special charge up and ink recovery because I use dualies alot, but wow! I die quite a lot because I am quite risky and impulsive with my decisions so maybe I should give it a try :O
Lucy May I can be aggressive too but if you're gonna go that route instead of being strategic then learn how to dodge roll or barrel roll W.e it's called. When someone shoots at you, time it right and you can punish them from the side. With good aim of course
Even competitive wise this list is very accurate oppening gambit and last ditch are both about even in use, its close but its more map dependent, some maps like kelp dome rm can be useful for opening gambit while other maps such as blackbelly rm where its easy to push the objective past 30 are great for last ditch. Oppening is generally regarded as slightly stronger because the run/swim boost is more helpful then the ink main/recovery boost, but it is great on more ink heavy weapons like brella or dynamo Tenaicty is strong but the main thing holding it back as its limited use on weapons, only a few backliners really benefit but its perfectly fine, and if your team does well then you won't really need it. Comeback is by far the best one, huge variety of important buffs and midigating the most important setback in the game, being killed, its a huge help for getting back in and boosts so many stats, it also used to be even better giving a main and a sub of each ability before it got nerfed around 2.0
Tenacity and Special Saver makes for a powerful combination against aggressive enemy teams and basically allows you to switch back and forth between being more offensive or more support oriented as needed. Love using it in Tower Control with the vanilla Glooga Dualies, Dynamo Roller or Splatterscope.
Tenacity is always my go to, mainly because I'm backlining a lot of the times I play, but Comeback is another favorite. I need to try out Last Ditch Effort since as it gives you such big boosts. I never realized how much it gives you once it's activated
I love tenacity and comeback. They are pretty fun to use. Course with tenacity I use special charge with it. Comeback for its use for helping you after being splatted. Truly both are my favorite
I haven’t played splattoon 2 in a couple years due to shrine hunting in botw and now Pokémon and these vids helped me find out more stuff and I’m slowly getting my groove back!
Wow. I've played this game since the days of Splatoon 1, and switched over to Splatoon 2 instantly, but I never knew that these abilities lasted this long in affect!
Not bad. I never really considered the 4 exclusive options for headgear but Comeback does look nice, especially if you play quick super jump with beacons like I do. I'd love to have a balanced set with a lot of abilities, but man it's hard sometimes.
Ahh this video is super helpful clarifying a lot of the specific boosts. I really need to build a good piece of gear with comeback, but I can’t let go of my vanity of wanting to use the toothpick!’
i’ve only played this game 1 day so it’s hard to tell from my pub stomping in turf war regular battles, but opening gambit has done really well for me. i’m an aggressive player, i like to force the enemy team back and get map control for my team. this ability helps a LOT with that. it gives me the edge i need at the start of a match and even if the ability runs out, my team has more map control which makes it really tough for the enemies to get anything going, they’re just trapped in their spawn being choked out. also i’ve had the ability last almost the whole round before because i just kept getting kills lol, it’s very good for giving your team an early lead
Awesome video Vasko!! Swim speed, special charge ups, and the ink savers and refill up are probably my favourite abilities. Oh yeah and last ditch effort. XD
I didn't know anything about these so thanks for the info and you are doing really well on making your voice less monotone like you said in the survey video, great work keep it up :)
Well this is exciting stuff! I was shouting after Opening Gambit. I JUST finished playing Rainmaker and lost it when I saw how well it would fit my play style.
Great video man. I usually play frontliner shooters (Splattershot, N-Zap, Splash o Matic) and usually just spammed any ability and never realised how good comeback could be. I didn't realize it gave you 20s of effect (thought it was less), because I get splatted on average say 6 times in a full match that ability gives me 2 mins of that stuff in a 5 min game, which is pretty decent (assuming I stay alive for 20s :p). Thanks for helping me ;)!
Honestly i use comeback because i tend to be aggressive and i get splatted a lot. So that buff really is good. It works best in ranked during rainmaker or tower control. Since the objective is to get closer to your spawn, there will be more enemies near you giving you more time to utilize that effect.
I had the same opinion on last ditch effort at first. However I found that it works incredibly well on the spattershot pro while running a lot of main power up. Conisidering you can only have 1main and 1sub free after putting your damage up to 99.9. That ink efficiency just allows you to out play even the best of players. I play last ditch because if your struggling(over time, enemy teams early push, shit team mates) you get a massive boost and 1 main for that is just worth it
I use last ditch effort because I use Dynamo so that much ink saver at the end is super nice, and with the Dynamo I love to make pushes at the front line splatting people left and right in overtime
Last Ditch Effort actually activates when the opponent's score drops to 50 and gradually gets greater and greater. I believe Last Ditch Effort to be the best.
I have a question, you said last ditch effort activates when the other team reaches the score under 30, does it stay on if you have the objective ? Or just when the opponent has the objective. Also I agree with all of your rankings. Edit: I didnt know this video was 2 years old 😂.
Opening gambit's buff is really nice. Using it with enperries is really good. It's a bit luck based (since you are rushing). It deserves the fourth place spot.
Gambit is good for every mode that isn't tower in my opinion it's great if your weapon is any class that isn't light because non-light weapons have a slower swim speed, but with this your initial rollout is as fast as the three light weapons the opposite team will always have, while you have more range, so you sort of auto-win the opening confrontation
Tenacity is the best for sure in my book. the least situational of the lot(since there WILL definitely be times when most of your team gets wiped) and no time limit attached to it arguably making it the most generally useful of the lot with the bonus fact that if the ability never comes into play during a match then it's not even a bad thing since that means you and your team are doing very well anyway!(that said, i don't really like to use any of the headgear exclusive abilities myself personally as i'd rather dedicate my headgear to stuff like swim speed, run speed, ink recovery, ink saver main, etc depending on the weapon i'm using.)
I'm a more defensive player and personally I like Last Ditch Effort the most. And I only play standard turf war usually with a Foil Flongza, Gold Dynamo, or Krakon roller. I feel like the most influential part of the match lies in the last minute--that's the best time to make a comeback or prevent your opponents from doing so. Plus, launching a suction bomb and bombarding your enemies with Dissmissive Diss-missiles at the last second is the best thing ever.
Tenacity is extremely useful to charger mains! You can get stingray more often or bomb rush. And if you pair special power up with tenacity when using the splat / hero charger, you’ll not only get it faster but also a few extra seconds added, which in a way kinda helps since the damage stingray gave was nerfed and it makes up for it
My favorite special is Tenta Missiles,I like them because they are an easy special to use. There's a few other specials I like, but Tenta Missiles are my favorite. I don't use head gear exclusive, but if I had to pick it would be Comeback. I don't know why, but it sorta fits my play style.
I love tenacity because, if u dont know its very hard to get ur special with very long range weapons like hydra or e-liter but with tenacity, omg is noticeably better , instead of getting 2 rains with the e-liter u get like 6 in the entire match. it is amazing, u highly recommend using it if ur going for charging or splatling
I’d rank Last-ditch effort as #4 because at least you’re guaranteed to be able to even use Opening Gambit every match. When there’s a knockout you’ll just waste a main spot for something that doesn’t even get used.
Yes! I think its a really good game, and the type of game that you can enjoy playing every day, or once in a while. Most matches (depending on what you like to play) can last anywhere from 2-7 minutes so its easy to stop playing short notice (unlike other multiplayer games which can last 20+ minutes).
I really like both Comeback and Tenacity. The one at the bottom of my list is last ditch effort, since there are some scenarios I’ve encountered in which you just CANT recover.
i personally use tenacity in most of my kits because i usually try to play on the backlines as defense/support, so being able to charge my special bit by bit when my teammates can't even push the objective at all or splat any opponents really helps my gameplay :0
I actually like opening gambit - at my level comebacks in most matches are rare, if non-existent. If you can secure an early lead, it often leads into a quick win.
Also, totally off topic, but I just wanna say good job and keep up the good work. It's rare for RU-vidrs to like almost every comment they got and actually read through them! We are so fortunate to hav u :3
When you said opening gambit was good for rainmaker you weren't kidding. I had it paired up with object shredder and my weapon was a .52 gal, two of my teammates were afk and because of the speed from opening gambit, and extra damage from object shredder, I broke the rainmaker with the help from only other teammate actually playing and snatched the rainmaker and dunked it immediately!
Yo Vasko! After watching this vid and the last one on shoe abilities, I've really been rackin' my brain on builds. I've currently been runnin' with a Bamboozler to help increase my aim, and my current build seems okay. However I think I can do better, and have another build idea in mind, but I'd be ever so thankful for your input. So if you're willing, should I just post it here, or do you have a more preferable communication alternative?
Best way to run it by me is to post it as a new comment, sadly YT doesn't notify me when people reply t0 comments so if you left a reply to this I might not get to see it :/
about 3, Maybe that's why the other team had a fricking super-comeback once my team got to 2 away from winning tower control. because they all probably had last-ditch effort, maybe.
i had no idea tenacity worked for splatted friends too! i honestly thought it was only for disconnects, so i considered it a useless ability. thanks for telling me otherwise
Im looking for a special ability to change for my full moon glasses that i might change them to. I use quick super jump on it and i main the octoshot and octobrush. I mainly carry my team in rainmaker. I feel like i might use Comeback, since its good for front liners. Now honestly ive started another gear set from scratch for dark tetra dualies which i plan to backline with. Any ideas for abilities? And yeah ill probably use tenacity Edit: i ended the dark tetra dualies gear set and instead started ball point splatling nouveau, which i switch between backlining and frontlining all the time with it. Depends on whats happening in the battle. Im going to be switching between it and my octoshot with some tenacity and object shredder for the upcoming splatfest. (Chicken vs Egg)
USE LAST DITCH EFFORT! in turf it only activates during the most important time period, at the end of a match and in ranked it gives amazing benefits when the enemy counter drops below fifty and increases in power maxing out at thirty or lower(and in the last 30 second) it gives AMAZING abilties for ink saving and can last quite long in some matches it gives many weapons accses to double bomb kits and can mean near infinite ink if the counter drops to 30,and if you combine it with some ism even for ink hungry weapond like the dynamo, brella, some blasters... seriusly, why did he put it at number 4?! This is arguably the best ability in the game!(not counting mpu damage up)
I used to have Comeback as my ability but then it got nerfed and now it's not like it used to be, so I moved on to Opening Gambit, so I can get that speed boost with Ninja Squid
The main problem with opening gambit is that you spend the first 10-15 secs of the match just getting into battle so you only get like 15-20 secs of the effects
