***** Tell that to the old people, who don't want splinter cell to change, they want the same gameplay in every game, with no challenge and lots of fun,not saying the old ones weren't fun, they were very fun back in the day.chaos theory still my best spliner cell game
Jacabo Blanco Blacklist sold very poorly, same with Conviction. The OG games sold far better if I'm not mistaken. So that's why. Ubisoft did it to themselves by attempting to gain a broader appeal.
Honestly, the only thing that prevented me from liking it as much as Chaos Theory was the lack of Michael Ironside. Not that the new guys is bad, he's just not Ironside.
I know the hardcore Splinter Cell fans probably wont agree with me on this but I think the next SC game should focus on Sam training a new recruit and at the end either have Sam die or retire, because this having Sam moving and fighting like a 20 year old as old as he is is getting ridiculous. I definetly understand why they dont want to have him move slower, slower gameplay is boring and thats fine, but you cant ride out Sam forever. I think they might also be afraid of the backlash they might get if they tried to introduce a new protagonist, similar to how alot of fans resisted playing as Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2, but overtime they got over it and now Raiden is fairly respected among the MGS fanbase and even has his own spinoff series now, so it can be done though admittedly it might be a bit harder because Raiden was only introduced in the second MGS game whereas this new character would be taking over for a franchise thats 6 games in now (I know theres the PSP one, but I dont count that) and so obviously SC fans by now are alot more attatched to Sam than MGS fans were of Snake back then, but what other option is there other than end the series (which they obviously wouldnt want to do)?
Anne Kipp Yeah, I really wish they had done this in double agent since the game begins with Sam working with a new recruit anyway. Then just have Conviction happen to him instead of Sam and then him having his own division (4th Echelon) would feel more like a progression than it ultimately did.
Or do like what they did in mgs4 where do to his fast aging he had stress when bending and the psyche system was great for letting us know he really is old now but it still felt the same speed just the character reacted different and grin
I just downloaded this on STEAM(it was on sale). I had already beat it on the 360. Awesome game. It is too bad it did not get the recognition it should have. Level design was fantastic. Voice acting was strong. I think Erik Johnson did a great job. It was time for Ironside to step down. LOVED the Coop/multiplayer, as well as the campaign.
He meaned that in the older SC games there was a complex sound system to keep you aware about enviromental sounds or your footsteps, so it was all about slow crouching. In blacklist it works faster.
This game is amazing but stay away from perfectionist unless youve been playing for a while and have good gear. I started with it and got stuck in the first level for an hour.
You're correct. Sound is still there, but it's not as sensitive as it was in Chaos Theory and Double Agent. I could move quickly crouched and subdue an enemy in Blacklist where in CT and DA it was much harder to do and required you to move slower.
This is barely a Splinter Cell game. Everything Ubisoft makes now (and has made for the last decade) are slightly different AC clones. "If you can't climb like a monkey and do an air assassination, how will the player feel like a badass?"
True for parts of Blacklist yes, other parts of it are classic SC like shooting out lights, access to plenty of gadgets, watching guard patrols with night/thermal vision and moving and hiding bodies. It's not as good as the OG's but at least it's a hell of a lot better than Conviction.
It takes some getting used to and I wouldn't recommend it on the first playthrough. Perfectionist isn't difficult as long as you are patient and are familiar with the levels and gadgets.
the reviewer mentioned one thing that is very wrong. The game is still really focused on sound. If you are crouch and still while crouch you go too fast , a guy can hear you , if your close enough. If you throw a noisemaker enemies go and see what it is , etc. Otherwise i think it was a very good review.
I'm working my way up from the first one and in not looking forward to this clusterfuck of cancerous trends of videogames... The original formula is quite OK some 10 years after...
I know, but in my opinion they should only have changed the voice. That at least makes SOME sense, Sam is getting older so his voice changes a bit. But what sense does it make to change the face?
Ubisoft tried so hard return to their old roots, but still missed by miles. Here's whats wrong with Blacklist: No charm, no humorous interrogation with bad guys, no variety in levels (chaos theory covered so many grounds in terms of atmosphere and character) and most importantly no Amon Tobin, the mastermind behind Chaos Theory's espionage music. No Ironside. -.- Chaos Theory was all about taking your time, and execute guards slowly one by one with suave.
I'm simply not buying it for the reason that its the USA v Terrorists who coincidentally happen to be Arabs. Micahel Ironisde may also have played a part in the decision. Ubisoft really took a big step back just when Conviction was moving the franchise to a whole new level.
Well in this game so far you don't HAVE to kill anyone. There is a non-lethal option too or you can ghost the levels. I've played 4 so far on perfectionist and fuck it's really really hard.
I just played it at 0.25 speed to properly see the animation and it actually looks pretty normal to me. It's just very quick so it looks like Sam just "snaps" into place but really, his body moves fairly naturally (for a video game).
EvilTim1911 yeah but you're playing the game in real time) thing is, he just didn't gain any momentum before doing the slide so it feels terribly unnatural
What I don't understand is why are the character models so damn different from the other games? Sam looks and sounds NOTHING like he did on the other games. WTF is up with that?
They should have just made a new character instead or found someone with a deeper voice, he sounds way too young especially when you hear him talk to his "daughter" on the phone lol.
The only thing good about this game over its original predecessors are the graphics and the tri rotor, everything else is just cheap show off, and even that done wrong.
