This review is proof that GameTrailers is the only company that makes honest reviews. Unlike all the companies that can be bribed like IGN, and GameSpot.
I swear people flip out sometimes because of their reviews. sometimes they rate too high, others they rate too low. they get this less than other gaming sites but even gt isn't invincible to hate.
It's not hard to understand why IGN and Gamespot always play up every single game's strengths and downplay the weaknesses, when giving a review. It's simple...they sell games. It's like asking McDonalds to give you a review of beef suppliers that supply them with meat for their restaurants. Think they are ever going to say, "Awe man, their beef sucks!"
How is this proof? Did you honestly jump around all RU-vid game review sites and finally found one with a slightly lower score and now you are happy? That's pathetic
Finally an honest review for a COD game. After playing mw3 I realized that despite any "changes" they make it's still going to be a COD game. Seems like the major reviewers are starting to catch on
GameTrailers - you've earned my Review trust and my subscription. The fact that you guys reviewed this game correctly for what it is, really says a lot. I loved MW and MW2 but after that, it was the same thing over and over again. Games need to evolve to earn better scores, not keep doing the same thing and expecting to keep getting 8 or 9's
you say the game is the same and you give it a 7.0 guys lets be honest. this game deserves no more then a 5.0 ( reason being that its just the same shit as always )
GibbMeisterXB1 Well, if you're on PC current gen. is already better than next gen. consoles :P Not trying to sound like a PC elitist.. just saying. xD Just wish certain console exclusives made their way over to PC.
MooCowManHG yes but my PC cost me 2.000 bucks two years ago and still can run everything at 1080p (with the addition of a GTX 760 - that's $250 more). The next gen consoles are between 400 and 500 bucks I mean the math is simple, everybody that loves gaming should buy a PS4 and/or XBONE at the latest before the end of next year.
xbotdev My point is that it's obvious EA and Activison are paying these people to overrate their games. Martin Purcell said this was a non-bias review. Bullshit! BF4 gets a 8/10 from me.
Man it sucks because I think Ghosts could have potentially had a good plot of they actually paid attention to it, but nope, bare minimum effort as always.
I think most people who say this game sucks are just repeating what they've been told, so they'll sound like they're in the know, but the fact of the matter is, this game has an incredible SP campaign. Almost no two missions feel alike. I enjoyed the hell out of it, more than I did with MW2, MW3, BO2 and AW. I think it's the best COD campaign ever, except maybe (just maybe) the very first COD.
LOL FUUUUUCK NO. Dude this game should've never released. Anything, including the game no one wants, Infinite Warfare, is, was and will be better than this, minus that piece of garbage that released on PlayStation Vita.
this is the reason why Gametrailer is one of my favourite professional critique website out there: no cheap gimmicks and pure honesty with their articles unlike IGN and Gamespot.
I feel like this game might have had more of an impact if they weren't releasing new CODs every year. That being said, I actually did like the story (the voice cast probably helped with that)
Ghosts was a huge mess. I picked it up for 6 bucks at a game store one time, which it should've been 50 cents. I went to play campaign, and I was hit with a required download for it. Being extremely mad at that fact, I went to play the local multi-player, since the COD community is pretty bad from the get-go, and I had to wait 2 hours for some compatibility packs to download, because it was required. I got fed up with it, and threw it in the corner, where it truly belonged. I watched a playthrough on it, and it was truly awful. Reused scenes and animations, lack of innovation. It was a truly awful experience. People who thought this game was perfect are either under the age of ten, or have not grasped the concept of what makes a shooter good. For reference, play Doom. It doesn't matter if it's the original or the most recent one. That's how shooters should be.
Call of duty's age is starting to catch up with it and it seems that they might have not had enough time to make it the best that it could because call of duty makes a new game every year and battlefield get 2-3 years to make a game who do you think would do better?
***** I dont really enjoy playing the COD multiplayer but always enjoy playing the single player campaign...I'm just not sure if I should get Ghosts for the campaing
You know you don't love CoD when you don't care about spoilers, its still a good game, but not a great one anymore. I played AW and it sucked, the weapons sounded like pea shooters and the story line was all over the place and it was not good.
***** You know I thought the stupid cod fanboy myth was only trolls trolling, but you proved them right. Buy some pepto bismol because you have diarrhea of the mouth.
***** Gamers are gamers no matter what they like or play. We are all in the same boat; we are already labeled geeks, nerds, virgins, no life ext... by ignorant people who are intolerant and judge books by their cover. People who act like you give our community a bad name and causes people to label us as stupid fanboys; fangirls.
People hate on CoD too much. Call of duty 4 modern warfare is not only one of the best shooters ever but one of my fave games ever and I'm not even that big of an FPS fan
Black ops 1 was ok but was very laggy at first and had alot of problems. Ghosts however is terrible. the map design is all over the place and the pc port is the worst.
***** multiplayer was the terrible thing about black ops ghosts was bad 'a smack in the face' bad COD4,WAW (without hackers) and MW2 others was terrible BTW BO2 was close SO CLOSE
It's not a terrible game, it's just that one every year is too often, If it was like GTA where they release one every 7 years or so, people would look forward to a new one. Familiarity breeds contempt
"They all have the same brash attitude." No they don't. The clip shown is a perfect example. Keegan just told Hesh to "calm down." Merrick on the other hand was more brash. He took action and made Hesh sit down. Elias simply defused the situation. The Federation attacked America for power, and simply because they wanted to. News flash: there really are people like that.
***** Ghosts was a more balanced Cod game. So I wouldnt be laughing if I were you. Or I would laugh at Black ops 2 instead. That Cod was truly a disgraceful turd.
I would not call the guns in ghosts balanced Per say. They were more accurate to their real life counterparts though. In the process though, they did become more balanced. SMGs have shorter range but shoot faster and have higher capacity. Assault riffles shoot at average speed and have average capacity but have better range. LMGs shoot slower and are slower to reload but have exeptional range, better sights, and high capacity. Sniper rifles have slow fire rate but have unparalleled accuracy and power.
Sharkey3331 That's because despite the negatives, they chose to ignore them and give the game a near 9 out of 10. Then they proceeded to give killzone shadowfall a lower score than CoD and all of the previous killzone games, despite the only negatives being a not so great platforming section in the story, and occasionally clumsy AI, AND despite the fact they said it was the best killzone game in the series. Not forgetting that Killzone ShadowFall is the best looking console game EVER, and perhaps the best looking game currently available on ANY platform to date, AND it's campaign being far better than that of CoD's AND it's multiplayer being just as good if not better than CoD's. So considering all of that, is it really fair to call the people that are upset 'whiny bastards'???
I got the game for $15 on Steam during Black Friday along with BLOPS2 for $20 and I'm skeptical about my purchase at this point for both games. But at least I don't feel robbed like all the fans who bought these on release day. Not going to get Advanced Warfare until it's $10-$15.
Good review, but there's an downhill aspect in multiplayer & squads. The red flares(others) in some maps are mostly respawn points(or near), which some people may think its makes the map brighter. If u have study the maps well enough u will constantly see people running out in front of you, even AI lol. Stonehaven & Whiteout are the easiest to tell. The perk system & weapon system is a lot better than Mw3, but Mw2 still has the best melee, like geez i wish u could slide & knife. I don't know why people hate on BF4 & Ghosts, but save ur money, rent or split it with a trustworthy friend before u buy it then get rid of it again. I've seen fair game-play in multiplayer with real human players besides the melee & Riley's ridiculous health i give this game an 8/10.
Actually, the stories for the Call of Duty games are usually really good. They're definitely some of the best on the FPS market. It sucks how they managed to screw this up after how awesome the MW series' campaigns were.
Squads mode isn't anything special, but a a private match with bots is actually really fun! You can even play GunGame and SnD with bots! Nice work Infinity Ward!
You have to manage your expectations. What do you expect from a COD game? Bioshock grade story and setting? COD is grounded by what it is: A Military Shooter. And by those standards, Ghosts has a refreshing and inventive Single Player in my opinion.
The only "inventive parts" in the Single Player were the space and underwater missions, but even those were on the "meh" side. As far as refreshing goes Black Ops 2 wins by a mile, Ghost's Single Player feels uninspired, lazy, cliche, unambitious, and nonsensical, and for some reason the voice acting was terrible and COD usually has good to okay voice acting. The story made no sense and the big bad guy was terribly dull and uninspired and the "Ghosts" aren't even ghost, they're more like every other tough and gruff military unit that's common in this series, this game and MW3 are proof that Infinity Ward is a low budget company that just can't make solid COD games anymore.
On realistic point of veiw what more or less is needed in a FPS nowadays, the cutsence needs to go that only gripe but none the less it look good to me.
Super Random Comment. But they should of saved the Last of Us for a PS4 launch title. It would of made it a memorable release. Random venting. Sorry. But Great review gametrailers! Thanks
Finally!A review that is honest and true. Hope people can now see how overrated this series is. Even it's developers say their audience are not gamers, but consumers who enjoy the same thing. Desperate CoD fanboy can not justify and defend this game even when it's developers don't.
This game was all hype, but a back story. But, I liked it. Still a pretty decent/average game. It's one of the best CoD's out there. It's a good game, but not great.
fummy when i explained the battlefeild 3 multiplayer to a cod fan he thought i was talking about the campain. yeah cods got to step up because battlefeild has deffinatley stepped ups its game
Best Buy has this for $5 on PS4 today only. An equal price for the quality of the game. Been a fan since the original Call of Duty on PC and Ghosts is the worst in the franchise. I had this game for Xbox 360 and hated it, but for $5, I'll replay the multiplayer again on my PlayStation 4. Single player campaign was a joke. Hope this year's Infinite Warfare is a return to form from Infinity Ward.
again, he reviews the game for what it is and how it plays. The second review i've seen from GameTrailers that tell you how the game itself plays without comparing it to ANYTHING else. Keep it up, I like.
I'll admit it. As much as i hate, dispise and get disgusted by this COD game in particularly i have to say when it comes to review it as a game then ok it deserves between 6 to 7 score rating. Because it has things that makes a game to work fine and fun in some ways to play.
In a time were digital evolution goes on in a crazy rate you can't stay the same for 7 freaking years. Infinty ward is good and they proofed it, but staying with COD doesn't do them any good they should move on and make a new shooter then mabye we will see their beautiful minds shine again
Well i for one actually like the game because the way it looks and the way it feels. Also the campaign my have some issues which i don't mind like how there is little known about the federation and the ghosts but don't u like games that have a little mystery to it? also the multiplayer is very fun for me and the new mode extinction.what reason is there to play extinction again? well trophies and achievements of course! also ghosts introduced at least a few new things like extinction, new multiplayer modes and new big maps with dynamic themes i got used to very fast
i had the same thought as many people going in, "wow omg cod, same shit 0/10" but i got it free through a futureshop event and i was pleasantly surprised by the campeign, it's nothing really new but it had some cool set pieces and action
There has always been impressive shooters side by side on CoD, You just haven't cared to look deeply rather just stuck to the shallow outside and only saw CoD in the front desk. Just because CoD shows age doesn't mean Killzone and Battlefield starts to shine like a star, they've always done, I see the charm in both CoD, BF and other series, if any Call of Duty is having a great chance right here and Treyarch may be able to bring this series into the innovative and replayable fun experience. I hope for it to become a genuine series that is polished once more, Sadly that hasn't happened for a while but Treyarch showed promise in Black ops 2, trying to innovate the way it played in multiplayer with the customisation and also with trying to bring in choices into the campaign. If any, Infinity Ward is dead, Call of Duty is held up by two game producers under Activision. I hope Treyarch gives us gold like CoD WaW again, but even more polished and more replayable.
Jesper Uhlin Well, because I had planned on possibly picking up Ghosts. It's been a long enough wait, I think, so that it may not feel as stale to me as is does to others. Since my favorite game mode has been taken away, however, it seems I can at least save $60.
the games really not that bad its really fun with friends on multiplayer and exctiction all people see is the same stuff over and over but all cod have things that set them apart. and the ghost are really cool there not like Soaps team or any other groups in past cod. over all ghost isn't that bad
at least treyarch tries. black ops 2 really tried to bring something new to the table like campaign choices, scorestreaks (which are way better than killstreaks or strike chains) and pick 10 system, which probably is the best class customization tool i have ever seen.
RevanBladeZ I hope with this new, more polished engine they Treyarch will try good with the next Call of Duty and make it into an epic experience. CoD Waw 2? Zombie story mode? Replayability? This series is far from dead
I agree with everything he said except for the comment about Crank. Crank was the only mode I enjoyed in this lousy ass game. ghosts was such a train wreck everywhere else though. And I'm not one to hate on Cod just to be cool. Been playing since Cod 2 back on 360 ( I'm soooooo cool) and its really sad seeing how this franchise was just milked.
How was Ghosts lousy? If you said you played Cod since Cod 2 chances are you shouldve liked it. Ghosts was a more simpler game and it was more like cod 4 compared to the other new cods.Ghosts had better hit detection and net coding. It had more customization. The killstreaks were simple not overpowered. The guns and perks are also more balnced too. I dont understand how a cod veteran cannot like Ghosts. It was a breath of fresh air after Mw3 and Bo2 sorta injured the franchise. Ghosts was an improvement more than a disappointment. Too bad it got too much hate.
Not sure who the clown was that wrote this review but i cant help but think he has a gigantic bias towards the series. Ghost is an excellent entry in the series, far better than most of the more recent titles especially black ops 2. I can understand disliking aspects of the mp such as map size but the hatred this game received in this review is completely unwarranted and pathetic.
I agree, Ghost does have some cool new features and game modes and also have some shit ones too like Extinction. Ghost does not deserve to be next gen...I dont think it should be a 7 it should be less than that
