This may seem odd to almost everyone, however when Mr. Knore says the plate is to split an engine case, you have to believe it!
Since it had been awhile since Mr. Knore used the plate he couldn't remember how to exactly used it. I come up with some welded coupling nuts to used. I plan to used this plate in the future as it works effortlessly smooth!!
If you have any suggestions or comments, please mare sure to leave them!
Thank you!
Be safe and be blessed!

That was so cool a very effective way to pull apart with out smashing it with a hammer and wedge. Ok I’m not mechanic or minded that way Thanks for sharing

Glad you enjoyed it. It was definitely a smooth way to separate it.

What was your assessment of the cam and followers?

The cam was pitted pretty bad and the lifter tappets were rough as well. The cam will be replaced with a new one and I'm not sure about the tappets. (might machine within limits)

Ingenious I’m curious, what is the risk of cracking the case on the other side? Some things are designed and reinforced for pulling.. not pushing. Is this a Lycoming recommended method?

Good question... The center through bolt, nothing is holding it besides the close tolerance fit in the middle of the case halves. Considering this, pulling or pushing makes not difference. However, the two studs that were pushed related to your question. The amount of pressure was VERY minimal, I honestly was separating the two sides before I even knew it. This is why I didn't capture all on camera, I didn't have the camera on the split line. I would be worried if the amount of pushing pressure applied was an issue on the threaded through studs. I have not checked with Lycoming, but I'll share the video with my Lycoming contact and get their feedback as well.
