Never get bored listening to this song. I thought they were honest musicians back then, regarding their unique style to express the feelings through notes.
Who would have thought how far those gorgeous 2 Finn brothers would be in the music industry, just so unbelievable now 2022, well done and I always enjoy your music and cheers forever
I saw them in about 1981 in New Haven, CT, the opening act for Tom Petty (?). Never saw anything like them. So creative and unique. I went out and bought Waiata then next day, the True Colours. They have always been a favorite.
I adored the band back in the day and still do. Not too many years later, I went on to discover and love The Go-Betweens, also from New Zealand. Fantastic music from both. I never got to see Split Enz live, but I did see The Go-Betweens before Grant died during a concert in Chicago at The Abbey Pub. After Grant died, I saw Robert Forster perform live in Chicago. Both were exceptional concerts, and I'm so grateful I got to see them. If only I'd been able to see Split Enz live. Bucket list!
Now we all know why they are LEGEND!! There's nothing worse than playing to a shitty, unappreciative crowd!! So glad Tim & the boys proved the audience wrong!! ENZ FOREVER!!!!!
@@stoojinator I cant even recall writing this comment so thanks for the reminder :) fyi...the late 70s early 80s were not respectable. It was the wild west back then although I guess it depends on the venue and the intoxication levels. I recall as a youngster going to the bottle store/wholesaler with my father and seeing men in a punch up outside the store. No one even blinked an eye and that was in a upmarket suburb in Auckland called Milford. You dont see fights like that anymore at all at least not in the good part of town
Studying for my HF Radio Ham Licence currently, hopefully will finally get my ZL call-signs one day( ENZ-Z Hams only ) , Question Did Tim really know about the ham world and right a fantastic song that I have been listening to since I was a boy and never really got what it was about ??? Regards and 73's Kris
Why did they take it down from Spotify? I had realized I couldn't find it anymore, though being saved on my playlist before. I used to listen it frequently. I've just found out that "I Got You" also being taken down from Spotify. Could someone explain me why?
Surely there’s a quality recording of this gig, the poor sound quality detracts from a wonderful song. Doesn’t do the band justice, they were in the zone with bunch of other bands of the time, doing exceptional stuff in the studio a couple of times a year inbetween gruelling touring.Every and genre was explored, plenty of unusual songs that charted well. Great sounds folks. Do yourself a favour.
80s provincial Oz, best they could do I reckon. Bet they could hardly hear themselves at all on stage. You need to rehearse a lot to play well on stage without decent monitors.
