Split Thread Dubbing 

Being 73 with not the steadiest of hand nor the best of eyesight, I set my pinky on the hook for stabilization prior to the stab. Also, I stab right next to the hook shank. Great instruction of a technique worth learning. Thanks.

What are the positives and negatives between dubbing loop and splitting the thread ?

Using a dubbing needle or other sharp pointed object will cut one side of the tread (90% of the time). Use a tapestry needle with a blunt point. I made my own tool, among all the others (third hands...) that allow me to split with no problem at all also "Veevus 16" thread
