That’s really cool you can split while it returns. I got one from Home Depot and I find myself waiting a lot for it to return. Still beats splitting with a maul which is how I started the summer

Yeah the Split Fire is a really good splitter. I’ve split a lot of wood and so far no complaints. I’ll agree just about anything beats a maul.

This is the content and suggestions I needed. I get free wood off of market place and it’s often very knotty and doesn’t split easy. I’ll be trying this next time around. Also glad to see someone using a single splitter like me. I don’t sell enough to buy one of those big ones.

Well, it is a lot better splitting wood with a hydraulic splitter than having to do it with an axe, steel wedges and a maul, like I did for years. I would not have liked to lift an 18” round of wet Live Oak up on that splitter. Those rounds easily weigh 150#, but they really keep you warm when they dry out. They also make great smoking wood if you like BBQ, like me. Once you splits Live Oak, you can cut it into planks with an axe held like a hatchet. It is that first split on Live Oak that is the toughest. I used to groove them with a chainsaw and put one of my steel wedges in the groove and then split it with a sledge hammer. Tough work!

John for sure splitting firewood by hand is some serious work. I split by hand for many years. Nothing wrong with some good smoked meat I may have to partake this weekend. Take care.

@@OGAOutdoors good luck with the BBQ. Hope it is good. I will be running a DAV fundraiser this weekend at Shealys in Leesville,SC. I have two milk crates full of hickory chunks for my horizontal smoker. Hope I will get to light it up this summer.
