Just for future reference. Place a floor jack under the transmission and roll the rear half using the rear wheels. You'll have more control, especially going back together. Great video!
Thanks! Yes I agree that's a better way to do it. After fighting with the front wheels trying to go everywhere I decided im going to roll the rear half away from now on.
International 240 Yes sir, been splitting tractors that way for over 30 years. Again, use rear wheels, much better control for alignment & moving the weight.
Good video: I'm going to split my Farmall super M to change the clutch. I've never split a tractor into, was thinking about doing it just as you did. Video was helpful. Thank again for the video
13greywolf Thank you, I'm glad you found this video useful. A super M would probably be easier tho split than this 240 is. This was my first time as well, all I did was made sure everything was level and it came apart relatively smoothly.
First, I have never split a tractor. Watching the video it occurred to me that person could use a piano dolly with a couple of 2x6's on edge, screwed to the dolly, and 2x6's laid flat on the top with a hydraulic jack on the top of that to hold the tractor up and level. A ratchet strap around the dolly and tractor would hole everything in place and allow the front or back half to move as the weight is mostly on the wheels. The jack will allow for height adjustment and the ratchet strap will hole it together. Just a thought. Thanks for the video as it has given an idea what I will need to do if I choose to change a clutch in a tractor.
