I know what it feels like...I tried beating Spyro 2 on our old PS2 without a memory card and I got stuck on the trolley part, so eventually I gave up.

@@LilXancheX I also love that game, its from my childhood :). Anyway: In 2001 there were many games that were much more advanced. Even in the early 90s for example there were lot of better games, for example the Super Mario series.

That's also the kind of feeling that I get from this too. This song makes me think about how I took my younger years for granted and didn't think they were anything special, or that growing up is what I wanted to do. Now all of those years are gone, and all that's left is the worse, longest part of anyone's life, where I now see things as what they actually are, instead of what kids see.

I actually really like this theory. That would be a neat background detail for the level but I'm sure the developers didn't put that much thought into it as they really didn't care a lot about Spongebob anyways. There is literally a folder named _"New Sbsp like we care"_ that was found in the development archives for this game among other things like crude drawings of the characters doing naughty things. This was just another licensed game for them to pump out. This actually reminds me of the game Sonic CD since that game has time travel as a part of its gameplay. You are able to travel to the past and if you destroy robot generators you can make a good future. However, if that is neglected then a bad future is made where the landscape becomes bleak and polluted much like the Industrial Fields of this game.

Really does remind me of a mix of Palmtree Panic and Quartz Quadrant maybe. Sonic CD was definitely an inspiration for this soundtrack

I think that has to do with the composer, Matthew Simmonds aka 4mat, having already been experienced in creating music by getting his start from being a part of the 90s demoscene for the Amiga computer systems. He would then take his skills to make music for officially released Amiga games and eventually on to other systems. Overall, I do think this is the best track in the game. It certainly doesn’t sound like something for a Spongebob game. It has a more somber tone to it but I think that’s appropriate given that it plays in levels in the final world. It’s like it's indicating that this is close to the end of Spongebob’s journey.

He was probably gonna be replaced by the unused buff shark enemies at some point, maybe, cuz it's weird that there's multiple man rays and there's a stage for him but he isn't a boss, so at some point he had to be planned as one...

It's kind of insulting Man Ray are weak clones, but it could have been fixed, if the plot was about the real Man Ray was just using his clones as minions, and he is the last powerful boss. Your idea for the story would be definitely more interesting along with some dialogue lines, and the Dogfish is just a forgetable character.

This is the playstation version, the gba version isn't quite as good sounding

It's a bit surprising, isn't it? This good composition (along with many others in this game) was made for a *SpongeBob* game of all things... Also, nah, this isn't the GBA version. That version messed up these songs. In the case of this song, they removed the intro for whatever reason, which is important in the PlayStation version as it's what gradually introduces the sad feeling.

The GBA version sounds awful. This doesn't.

Ah, yes i remember this one....hmm...i dunno, but none of the songs from this OST have gotten copyrighted yet...strange
