Two comments - two great catches by Spook… and secondly, how cool was Lawrence Rowe! Like a second Viv Richards with that swagger and easy strokeplay. Real pity that his career didn't match his brilliance with the bat
Rupert Hanley was _So Quick_ ... He could switch any Light Off at the Wall .. ... and Be In Bed ... before the light goes out ... ;-) go ahead ... be my guest ... try it out @ home & _See for yourself_
Spook Hanley began his career in the early 70's so he was around 31-32 at this time. During the 70's he was legitimately quick; at this time he was generally more fast medium. This match was played at The Wanderers (which was his home track at this point of his career) which was usually a quick track. RSA certainly did have a very strong brigade of international class pacemen during the 70's and into the 80's with the likes of Proctor, Van Der Bijl, Le Roux, Rice, Hanley then followed on by the likes of Jefferies, Watson, Van Zyl then the generation that we saw at their re-emergence in 1991-2. What would have cost Hanley more international appearances was his inability with the bat.
