@@ropongi1008 Agreed, and for self defense minded folks, no matter your chosen weapon, the best being a firearm, on down the list, number one key, is having some good to excellent, well rounded, fighting skills. No matter the weapon, none of them are of any use at all if a skilled thug goes on the attack before you have time grab your chosen weapon. Of course as I said; ''self defense minded folks'', if they aren't at all able or interested in SD skill, then yeah a good weapon is better than being unarmed.

Awareness is the number one overlooked aspect of self defense imo. People walk around staring at their phones all day without a care in the world about what's going on around them. Know what's going on around you. Know where your nearest exit is. Know what potentially dangerous situations look like in the first place. The best way to win a fight is to avoid it all together.

In response to the ad at the end of the video, do you know what "Lethal Technique" you need the most? I do. It's called having witnesses. Otherwise, you might be going to jail for excessive (and possibly deadly) force. That said, everything Paul said is spot on.

@thullraven1
@thullraven1 Год назад
@@bernardbarr2354 As far as the ad goes, there is no jurisdiction in the entire US and even most other nations where you won't be in trouble for striking first. The only possible exceptions are a home defense situation, or if the other person pulled out a weapon and threatened you. I used to be a cop. In every case I saw, the person that PHYSICALLY attacked first was the one that was charged with Assault or even worse.

@@bernardbarr2354 So have I. I was a supporting officer on scene on a few occasions when I saw people arrested for Assault. @@thullraven1 I understood that. Was on scene when some of the TRS videos were filmed. I stand by my statement. I've been in many court cases when civilians and LEOs were viewed as using excessive force. Still depends on witnesses as you stated. Not always. Mas Ayoob and I were involved in a big profile case where a smaller Filipino man demolished six grown men....each 100 pounds heavier than the older gent. It was going down hill for the defendant until he was asked to demonstrate how he defended himself. As for the marketing scheme at the end talking about lethal techniques . They teach the same system that the older Filipino man used. You were a cop what defensive tactics have you ever done or witnessed that is considered lethal?

Here is my advice as a current bar/club owner. There are companies coming to me offering Facial Recognition technology for my entrance. If you are the type that is easy to get in a scrap, just please avoid bars. I've seen guys one hitter quitter other guys, guy 2 hits his head on the concrete, guy 1 is going to prison for 10 years. First thing the police do is demand camera footage. We can't cover for you, we can't lie, we have to show them the video. Sometimes give it to them on the spot. Cameras are everywhere, only streetfight unless you absolutely have to and as a former bouncer and bar owner (now) let me tell you the second you know someone is starting ish, leave asap. it just isn't worth it. And something that mma practitioners tend to ignore is that the arrogance they develop can (and often does) work against them when it comes to a dynamic and unpredictable context like the street. "No one is going to hurt me, because I know how to fight very well and I train very hard"... And suddenly that person whom, in his opinion, he had already defeated or intimidated with his "martial superiority", crashed a bottle full of beer in the back of his head, if not a knife or one or several bullets (recently it was known that a bjj international figure was killed in Brazil). Because, of course, why would someone who "is trained to destroy any opponent" flee from the place of conflict?

I get tired of people who dismiss MMA, especially when they do not condition themselves and think that "learning" a few techniques "for da streetz" for 30 minutes a day by themselves, without sparring, will somehow prepare them for self defense. These stupid "street fighting" classes do not involve any techniques being practiced under pressure, nor do they teach the value of physical fitness. People want to be lazy and think that they don't need to accumulate months and years of training. Then, they think they're big shots. That is arrogance in its highest form in martial arts.

Hey man. It's a beat that's under your feet and you feel it in your legs. It's fundamentally a motivating thing that keeps you in tune. Some people don't pick it up but it's supposed help you and your partner achieve timing so that you don't get hurt during training. Think about it. Broken rhythm is a fight. Timing is training. When one guy doesn't pick up on the timing, he's in trouble: he's not picking up on the point of the rhythm and goes for it and he either hurts his partner or if the partner knows what's up can get this guy because he's got his head up his arse and isn't concentrating. Capoiera has it, FMA has it, Silat has it. It's the rhythm and training picks up on the rhythm.
