I just don't like the retreating aspect . Taking a chance going in and out . Live resistance would be better . I just can't see anyone pulling everything off without getting some kind of impact . What happens if you need to reset yourself ? In a perfect world, if you can pull even half of what you're teaching . Yeah, I saw Paul Vauhnak . I don't trust Jeet Kun Do I've never seen it pressure tested . I have no use for Savate . I'll stick with a kickboxing art's and the Jits . Why, you ask ? You can almost go 60% kickboxing and 100% grappling, which is tested and true . My opinion which has no value . Why would you drag someone on top of you ? Unless you're fluent in Jit Jitsu or some kind of wrestler . This just reminds me of Kuntao Silat the way it's practice . Most street fights are truly over in 15 to 40 seconds . Why ain't the guy in the helmet hitting you back ?

81 year old senior here Dave, in "fairly good" physical condition. Thanks for a very informative video that will prove of great assistance in both the protection of my family and myself...it's getting ridiculous out there. 💪👊🙏. I might be older now and rather slow, but in my youth I was known as "concrete head", a benefit I know that will help me carry the day in the event of unarmed conflict. Thanks once again.

I'm not coming down on this method or video at all, but I can't stress enough the body to body physical experience one gets with even a community college 12 week self defense course, I'm 5 feet tall with shoes on, am female, am young by all definition, and I'm a single mother on the lowest rung socioeconomically, which is a nice way of me saying I'm poor as all get out, living downtown, you know downtown where police don't feel all the way comfortable, lock your doors in day time, kinda neighborhood, and while raised up in the projects as a young child and the street as a teen, I still am so glad I looked at the instructions, found one skilled and trained in martial arts and teaching self defense years and years, cuz throwing punches, blocks, kicking, disarming, ect, when you can feel that human body resistant against you, that was invaluable! I teamed up in my group of 3 with an average size young man and a big middle aged guy, cuz I like real case scenarios, and we beat each other, we had to, to a point, no padding all the time, some time but we kicked the crap out of each other, I feel everyone can benefit from that in order to know not to hold back their strength and how they really effect another body. Bruce Lee was the best btw, love it

I studied this approach when way back in the day. But I remain a freestylist with good foundation not representing any system. What you get from me is what you get from me from every area: no belts, no trophies, just plain old fighting as it is. All the world's a critic.Even Bruce himself (as well as many great martial artists) as been criticized. Do your thing, enjoy your journey and move on man.

Have to say, after more than 7 years of JJ this stuff seems a lot more practical. Not saying JJ isn't good to know, but let's face it - it takes YEARS to become proficient/build the muscle memory needed to properly perform the technique(s). Some people don't have years or thousands of dollars to invest in a discipline like that. This is different, and a lot more likely to work IMO. Many thanks to Dave for making this info available!

Only one question. After the straight blast and kick, knee, etc why don't you continue to press the attack until you know they aren't coming at you again. It seems that once you have the upper hand you would end the threat before backing off.

On the second technique you are using shots similar to those used by Kung Fu & wing chun. Moving forward on a narrow lineal movement. If your opponent side steps he will be out of your narrow reach. He will be able to side punch you because both of your hands will be busy throwing punches to your front and incapable of defend your sides. Most opponents with traning will not walk back but stand ground. On a 360° circle you will only cover 45° and leave the rest 315° vulnerable. Not including kicks that will come from the sides or from the front below your hands aiming to your belly or genitals.

I noticed 1 key component that's not elaborated on alot, that I would like more instructions on is footwork while fighting every style utilizes it few elaborate on it in deep detail, I personally think this should be muscle memory in a fight as well, say if drunk or high and you know the moves but your footwork is lousy & you lose balance you'll probably lose, why else would ground technique & grappling become so effective in MMA if they didn't ?

On the first technique my only comment is that you are aiming to the fastest body part of your opponent. If he knows what he is doing he will never hit your elbows. He has his other hand to hit you and combination of shots will nullify your technique unless you have lightning striking speed.

That would truly be ideal, I can tell you what works and that is being absolutely ruthless and incapacitating your opponent in seconds using whatever is available at the time! It is boiled down to violence of action, self preservation and not being a shot blocking vagina, just take it to them

What happen to the Israeli combat I had to learn I'm not real sure about this guy's technique but I know the Israeli stuff works to end fights fast and quick!! And I'm not saying rat doesn't work or this isn't criticism by any means !! I like to think that taken all these techniques as a whole and used in conjunction works better then any one given technique it's all about survival and any eye gouge or earbox will do in a hurry to give me enough time to sweep the shirt and grab steel

I have been using some of your techniques for years and didn't even know it. I am a gifted fighter, and I love adding things to my arsenal. What I mean by gifted is, fighting is second nature to me. Like eating and sleeping. Nobody taught me how to fight, I just jumped in, growing up. I never realy thought about attacking the hands as they fly at you, I was focused on the quick jab to the tip of the nose. I'm starting to look for other things to add to my arsenal, because our country is going down the drain, by the hands of worthless leaders. I ran across your video. Opened my eyes to alot off thing, I WILL ADD to my de- off-ense. Like you, I will try to spread your teachings to others, if only we could turn our GREAT nation around, if not, I am prepared to deal with any kind ok WOKE BS that the so called leaders are HELPING SPREAD!!! Dave keep doing your wonderful work, without LEADERS like you, teaching others to defend themselves, I don't know what kind of shape WE THE PEOPLE would be in.

Full disclosure, I have not watched the full video, but what I have seen, though it may be effective by a fit person with months of practice with an opponent who is mostly complaint, it is total B.S. that this system can be employed by anyone and be foolproof against any trained opponent. All of the praise received here is totally ridiculous and some of the questions and comments are so silly that they must be from either teenagers or senile old men who are trying to hang on to youth.

Do not ever block a low kick or shin strike with your own knee !! (as taught here FFS) Apart from raising your foot off the ground, unbalancing you, you risk SERIOUS knee injury. On top of that, unless you despatch your attacker quickly, you may need your legs uninjurd in order to run, climb, climb.

Sorry, but if I see your elbows go down - you're going to get popped (by straight or hook) in the head by a fake. I always PARRY/HIT - or BLOCK/HIT - even if the other guy fakes - cos he needs to ALWAYS be wary of a strike back (not sometimes - EVERYTIME you're close enough to touch him) while doing whatever he does.

I don't really like this style at all. He adds to many joint movements into his defense style. Meaning he is opening and closing to many fingers. The way he does his kicks. Like that scope kick. That has high chance you can break your own foot or sprain your own ankle. The entire point of a self defense is you defend yourself. His attack moves change forms to much. He has a open handed defense, yet his counters make you have to close your hands. Some of his defense moves go from open to close hands. Then want you to transition into a slap after the close hand. Most people won't be able to use any of this effectively. If you are going to make a style for defense than make it where the defender doesn't have to transition their defense for counters. The elbow to block is great advice. But a lot of the counters are advanced moves that require the ability to perform them fast and precise. If you make a wrong move you will end up hurting yourself. I wouldn't call these move street survival moves. The best street survival move is speed and agility. Always be aware of where you are and everything in the area. Be aware of approaching things. Moving into locations that give you advantages, that give you ability to gain weapons. If trapped, you will most likely lose using these techniques. This video has like 4 moves in it that no experience fighters can use. It is more effective to stay with open hand defense and use eye gouges, finger hooks, nose hooks, ear pulls, slaps to push away strikes, the elbows to block strikes. Do what old boxers use to do. Use your forehead to break their hand. Then attack their hand. If someone is throwing a massive swing hook. Why block it when you can break their hand with a upper head hit or a elbow hit. Or just bait them into hitting a wall with a well timed dodge or push into the wall. These moves will be more effective for a zero experienced fighter. Best way to survive on the street is to use bits of everything. His open hand defense, should be combined with different forms of easier moves. Such as grapples and pushes to control and trip up your attacker Newbies could easily use moves like this. They can use back steps and side steps. They can bait anger. Why go toe to toe with attackers. If you have no experience, your just rolling the dice using this style. I'd rather not put my life on a chance of the dice. There is always a better option than standing your ground. Standing your ground is for professionals. The people that survive, don't use these moves. They use their ability to adapt and understand. This requires no formal training, but requires a mindset to survive.
