Getting cold here in Iowa. Got a break and a 50° day so I took my sportster out for a ride. When I got home it was leaking oil like crazy, wasn't quite sure what the issue was so I came across this video. Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to check it out I'm sure this is my problem!!

I agree, But the rocker box is not that bad. Just take a look at my video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3DePmrDeNKU.html. Any questions just ask. Thank you for your support, And have a great day.
I had a leak on my 2014, turned out to be from the oil drain hose right where it is clamped to the frame. Somehow the hose developed a crack and after not riding for a week the oil tank was almost empty. Ordered a new drain hose.
Rocco, I have an 87 classic that's stuck in first gear. And basically the shifter flops around. I know it doesn't pertain to this post. But I'm stuck. Just like the ultra classic is stuck in first gear. Any help is appreciated. Rocco.
Try to rock the bike back and forth and try to switch gear. And make sure your transmission lever is tight at your trans. box. Sounds like that is your problem, Let us know how this works out.
I wish I saw your video 4 years ago when after the winter all of my oil leaked out. The Harley Dealer said it was my shifter cable, replaced that and all of the oil leaked out again within 5 days. I told them that I thought it was my drain plug. The problem still isn't resolved
my 883L does that after an oil change. just a single drop or two. even when it sits for 3 days. I tightened it, loosened it, turned the plug again, tightened, retightened it a day later. still just a single drip. then about two weeks later it somply stopped.
A lot of times that's just a residue from when you removed your oil & filter. It's a sloppy set up. Any questions just ask. Thank you for your Sub Woody. Ride Safe and have a great Holiday.
Nice video! My 2005 HD XL 1200 have oil leaks too. My mechanics said that oil came from the lower end of the engine and need to disassembly the entire engine and rebuild it ground up to solve the problem. Do you think is that possibile? What can I check to valuate the problem? Tanks! Daniele from Italy
@@TwoWheelRocco less than 15.000 Miles. It seems to be the primary chain oil. The leak starts st the center of the cast alloy junction of the basement. I don't know why. I suspect a failure of the stock gasket.
I had a leak just like this from a full service from a shop! I changed the oil the time before and no leak. But the shop did and didn’t tighten the hose tight enough. My question is, does hose placement matter much? I put the hose about where you put it. But the shop put it closer down the tubing closer to the end where it meets the plug. I’m wondering if the clamp placement might be a factor to consider when tightening (obviously it needs to be on the tube covering the area where the plug is inside the tube.)
@@ViralVeediuh Happy to help. Some of the older bikes, it's pushed into a plug and there's a clamp that you tighten on the new bikes, it clips to the side with a vinyl plug and a clamp. They both will work. I like the one where it's at least protected by your frame. Thank you for watching and all your support. Alex. Sports there are great machines. Ride safe and have a great day. And do your own work very rewarding.
Sound like your float jet has some dirt in there. Clean carburetor and reinstall.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pp4l-zbQcy0.html. Hope this helps, Let us know how this works out. Thank you for your sub Will.
Thank you Rocco. Great to keep in mind. I would like to know what brand and model is that stand you have your front wheel in? Where did you get it? My bike doesn't have a center stand either and this would be great for doing oil changes and checking proper oil level. Thanks in Advance, Bob 🦃 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

@@TwoWheelRocco Hi, I changed the oil on my 2010 XL1200 and didn't know I needed to bleed out the drain hose. Now I got a mess. Is there a fix for this?
Happy to Help, It is not a problem, Most don't. Hd manual calls for it. Just make sure your oil level is 3/4 on the oil stick. Idle for 2 minuets. And your go to go. Thank you for your Sub Rod. Ride Safe and have a great day. Hope this is what you were talking about.
Happy to help. I will send a video. Thank you for watching and you sub Ray. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s3490n6neBw.html. Let us know how this works out.

Happy to help. Now there's a lot of movement and if you look close, I don't know the year that you have, There is a clip to the bottom of the frame. Thank you for watching all your support. Doc realm rider. Ride safe and have a great day.
Thanks dude I'm leaking from my air filter cover I heard it something called the sporty drip but I don't want no sporty drip and then leak when I got it what do id?
Too much oil in the motor. Check your dipstick and make sure it's only halfway full. When you run your hand under your air filter you should have no oil on your fingers. The biggest problem with Sportster's too much oil in the bike. try it let us know how this works out, think halfway on the dipstick. Thank you for watching. clean plugs clean air filter and remove oil from tag halfway and she will run like new.
Hey man, i just saw your video and i think it will be helpfull. I discovered that my bike was leaking transmission oil, couple days after changing the handlebars. It was strange to me since gasket set was replaced few weeks ago. Do you think that this leak is due to the handlebar replacement? The leak comes from the bottom seal of the primary case, under the shifter. It only leaks when running, I hope this isn’t a major issue. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks for the video!!!
I'm happy to help. What year what model and is it mid controls? Thank you for watching and your sub Tomas. And the handlebars have nothing to do with that oil leak. Ride safe have a great day.
Thank you I was just wondering is there is an other between the engine and the starter? Because when I’m driving the oil cumingout on exhaust a lot. Please can you show me or sent some information about it. Sign ( Tony) thank you.
Hope this helps, Take a look at this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8rTII4Eg1Nw.html. We will start here, Let us know how this works out. Thank you for your Sub. Ride Safe and have a great day.
@@TwoWheelRocco it is leaking oil from the bottom where the wire attaches not where it threads in, mostly leaks on start up but I’m noticing a lot of oil on the bottom of the bike. The oil light still turns off shortly after start thoughts. Thanks
@@chriswickham6377 what year Bike and Miles? Take a close look at that oil plug and hose. I have seen hairline cracks in the elbow of the hose and oil runs down. Let us know how it works out.
Happy to help. I would replace the hose with the replacement part from the dealer. It's shaped a certain way under $20. Thank you for watching and your sub Fernando. Let us know how it works out. Ride safe and have a great day.
Happy to Help, first, you got to be sure where the oil is leaking from. It is an easy fix.. Take a look at this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uOOApLXdKIE.html. Let us know how it works out. Thank you for watching and your sub J. Ride safe and have a great day
Oil leaks are a little tricky that nut is the lowest point. Take a look at the video we have to find out where the oil leak starts. . Let us know how this works out J. Ride Safe and have a great day.
Thanks for the reply. I do know where the leak is coming from...the stud / nut that tightens the chain (you pointed to it at 4:35 and 4:45), does the entire cover have to come off to fix this leak? and a little from the clutch cable at the lowest point which you explained in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-POf9NMqC1qY.html
Hi Rocco, on my 05’ 883 XL Custom, discovered oil on top of my oil tank and all over the fuse block from a leaky oil vent hose at the back of the oil tank, right in front of the rear wheel. There’s an inspection opening in the plastic fender/mud guard in front of the rear wheel that I can see through and I noticed the pinch clamp on the vent hose is loose. Not sure why it’s spitting oil out of that vent hose. Oil level is normal at hot. If I could remove the mud guard I could get a hose clamp on that line and tighten it down but the mud guard is riveted onto the rear fender. Any suggestions on getting access to the back of the oil tank to that vent hose connection? Thanks,
Happy to help. I would take a look at the oil level, Sportster do not like to be past the halfway mark on that dip stick when warmed up. That top line is trouble your air filter will getl oily. if you run your finger under the your air filter cover and you have oil on them you have to much oil. . Let us know how it works out. Thank you for watching and your sub Ryan. Ride safe and have a great day.
@@Shneablay remove extra oil clean filter. clean spark plugs and she'll be as good as new. no more than halfway on the dipstick when Warm. let us know how it works out.
