As far as forums. Their are so many assholes on there judging people that I never use them anymore. I never use Facebook, and RU-vid can be very helpful when you’re working on something. Your channel is one I’ve looked at when looking at Golan stroker kit or motor installs. I’m with you, I buy what works for my friends.

Amen to the Milestar comment and assessment. Terrible for a daily driven, weekend beaten Jeep. Loved them for the first few thousand miles, but they wore like $h*t and barely got 12K miles out of them. Went to Nittos and won’t be going back.

Disagree ... I have 10k on my Pats and they are riding and wearing like every other brand I've tried. In regards to poor wear there is usually more to the story such as not frequent enough rotation, etc, etc. It's a little disappointing that a brand call out was deemed appropriate. Yes, the Milestars might not be for every one, but they are far from a crap tire. And to have the guest insinuate that they are garbage because of the price is ridiculous! ... just because a tire is 50-60% more $$$ doesn't make it a 50-60% better tire. Tire topics are like oil threads ... everyone (including myself) has an opinion ... and you know what they say about opinions.

It’s wild how dead the forums are and it’s not just Jeeps or 4x4s, I’m into RC Cars, and paintball too and those forums are a whist town compared to what they used to be. From what I see everyone has moved to Facebook groups. It’s one of the few reasons I have my FB account active. You have groups with 20K+ members, FB groups is where you’ll find what everyone is talking about. I’m surprised you suggested RU-vid as a forum destination alternative. I don’t think the comments section here provides and adequate place to hold technical conversations that can easily be referenced by thousands of others like the forums used to and the way FB groups does now.

Love it… 4x4 based Pod Casts by You and Team would be Awesome! …. Side note though, keep them at that 15/20min limit… Some of these 1hr + Pod Casts are hard to make time to watch … 👍

One of THE best RU-vid channels out there that doesn't have bias on their products is Project Farm. I wish we had a similar channel for off-roading to purchase everything, test it, and rate it like Project Farm does.

For me, it’s not just that RU-vidrs got a product for free and threw up some BS biased review, it’s that they put it on their rig and “review” it based in an hour of experience with it and no real building/off-reading life experience. They don’t know what the hell they’re reviewing or what functional points/historical issues to look for in said product. You have the blind leading the blind.

I get the sentiment about being aware of if the video creator was given a product or paid for it, and I always try to make sure people know when that happens in my case, but with that said I know a lot of people who would find it hard to tell the truth about a product they paid for just so they don’t feel like they screwed up buying it. When I spend my own money on something I want it to work and I feel stupid/swindled when it doesn’t. Ego gets the best of some people when this spend their own money sometimes too.

If I want to know about a product I will go to the forums and see what everyone is running. I have found some products that I never heard of till I when to the forums. They seem to be the best product for what I want.

I’m with you on the product review aspect. Even though we’re a small channel, I still get offers for free products and I always say no. Still, I’d be up to reviewing something if they don’t require anything of me. I personally want a company that believes in their product so much that they say, “test them well and we’re interested to hear your thoughts!”

Do you think there are influencers who can be honest with product reviews regardless of whether the product was free or not?

Facebook is really only good for the groups, and specifically searching for things within those groups with the search button. I feel it’s a great first stop for looking for stuff because the user base is larger and more active. But I still go to the forums and look through it for help. It’s very easy to see which of the big RU-vidrs in the Jeep world are who has biases thanks to free products. And yea many of them were pumping patagonias.

I think you guys nailed it with the bogus reviews on RU-vid. I have gotten burned multiple times by well known RU-vidrs praising a product, only to get it and says "no way". Seems like Tembo Tusk would fit that bill.

Great discussion, I'd add that I have rarely if ever seen a product review where the person ripped a product which makes all product reviews suspicious.

Ok riddle me this dichotomy. Every 4x4 shop in my area that i have been to keeps saying that lowest psi you can run on 37 inch tire on 17 in wheel is 25-28 psi and yet entire youtubez keeps running 10-12 with no beadlocks. Who is right and who is wrong? Shrugs.
@chadsmith8418

I run almost flat 4 psi bias ply TSL 39.5 x15x15 on cheap non bead lock steel wheels for 7 years on a TJ that weighs 5300LB & tons I wheel Oklahoma & surrounding states only lost one bead this hole time drives me nuts to see ppl running tire pressure in the double digits 10-12 psi especially when they have a single or double bead lock rim but they say it’s cuz the rig is heavy lol I understand that cuz I have two heavy 7600 pound rigs that run 7 & 8 psi & no bead locks..but 10 or 15psi is ridiculous I don’t no one person that would agree to that kinda pressure unless they was pulling a gooseneck trailer & on top of that they have bead lock rims absolutely no reason for that & they will stand there every time with a puzzled look on there face wondering why they can’t make a obstacle without throttling or winching lol don’t be afraid to air down it’s only a tire bead & it’s easier on ur body & rig…Maybe the shops are saying a hi number because of liability but I run with 6 really built rigs & every one is under 6 psi I’m my group

That’s crazy talk. I run 12-15 on the trail with 37” non bead lock. Never had an issue.
