Thank you for posting a normal tool video on this. All the other ones wanted me to "pick up" a 2k dollar tool, but I only have a little wall to deal with! I'll grab one of those saws!
Hey not rocket science, but I was stymied trying to figure out how to handle some foam in my RV floor project. I even have that Irving flat saw.🤪 Problem solved. 👍 Well done video! Thanks!
After you cut it do you recommend sanding it? Im using it on a a few gaps i had in my wall. Also does the foam debres still fly all over the place after cutting it?.
Depending on the spray foam you use you can definitely sand it. The major US Brand “great stuff” gaps and crack filler is sandable and paintable and does so very well after it’s trimmed
I was told to use a serrated blade/knife. I used this spray foam in a small spray bottle to fill in around the edges of my attic stairs that fold up to the ceiling (there was a cold draft coming from the attic). And it expanded over the edges and I could not pull my ceiling stairs down any longer, so I had to cut some of the foam away. The serrated knife worked ok, but not great. Pieces of the foam everywhere and dust too. Do you recommend wearing some type of mask and protective gear for eyes when cutting this stuff when it’s dry? Your video was very helpful.
i think it depends on how much are cutting. if the debris is getting everywhere a mask would be good to keep it out of your mouth and goggles to keep it out of the eyes. no fumes when cutting so mainly dealing with debris.
thats great if you have room for the saw and are cutting straight down like slicing bread. but what if you are in a corner and have no room for sawing?
The saw is a 10” Irwin/Marples Dovetail/ Jamb Saw. Great idea! I bought one after yer video, at Lowes @ $25.99 (Canadian $s)-the offset blade is also reservable, w/ that spring thingy (for left-handed cutting. The curved knife is a linoleum knife (also made by Irwin & others). I used a Olfa knife & a scrapper for glass windows (replaceable blades). But I liked yer ideas better!
My double wide trailer was never correct put together one room (my bedroom) has no trim and has a massive gap and here in Mississippi it gets very hot there's no insulation up there it's usually 90° in my room and I've even had plastic stuff melt if it was sitting close to my curtains I made a big mistake spraying a bunch of foam Into the crack it made giant things and they're super hard to cut off
