Full video of the paint job on my USS WHITEHALL radio controlled boat. Got 6 layers of paint. I chose so many layers because the hull has extremely thin ABS, which can crack too easy IMHO.
You never spray paint like that! Always start outside the item, then spray across the item, then continue past the item. You are asking for blobs and runs the way you are doing it.
From my experience the best results are first a light mist, then another spray, then after that dries do a final finish. Ive made the mistake of trying to do it all on one shot and it doesn't work out so well.
I didnt understand why you first paint all the hull in red to paint in flat gray afterwards the upper section an its deck...masking the upper hull first knowing that it will have another color, will save you time, paint an some euros…. Such a nice boat deserves painting with an airbrush and The working table will be also grateful to cover its surface before painting something on it. :(.
***** Modeling in general have gotten way to expensive ! they wonder why the hobby is becoming a lost art. well when you can buy a DVD, or computer game for less than what it takes to buy and build a model these days it's no mystery. And they try to insult our intelligence by say well it's manufacturing cost. B.S. it don't cost that much to justify the high price mark up they place on kits and supplies and yet they are the first to bitch about hobby shops going out of business and the hobby sales declining. yet they would never consider dropping their prices to stimulate sales and interests.
Your wrong. I chosed to put so many thick layers of paint onto the ship because the hull is super, super thin. Almost paper thin hull. So that was made on purpose.
