@kl-1447
@kl-1447 2 года назад
@@wonderwildly24 Absolutely the same for me. I was introduced to DWSA first and it is always going to be my defining Spring Awakening. It completely changed the way I think about language and communication (particularly in storytelling), staging and direction, and how we can adapt our stories to have new meanings (by which I mean Michael Arden is a genius). It's also just an absolutely gorgeous production all around and I really wish we could have seen more of it when it was on Broadway.

As much as I'm grateful to the original cast for their performances (and their cast album, because their harmonies hit understandably harder than the DW production), the show makes so much SENSE with ASL that it feels like there's something missing when I watch clips of the original cast. My ideal Spring Awakening is OC vocals with DW visuals.
@kl-1447
@kl-1447 2 года назад
@@angelicalicari8355 I really wish we had a good recording of the DWSA because its a performance you have to watch to understand, since the listening is the secondary. (also because I'm in the minority of opinions that likes their vocals better too)

The Deaf West version took a musical that was so important and emotional and sacred to me and just made everything - better. It was truly a theatre night unmatched. In fact, I cried so much throughout the entire production that I bought a ticket for the following night just so that I could actually SEE the show instead of having foggy eyes the whole time.

Was there. Original cast. Atlantic Theater. Second row. I was 14 years old. I went in completely blind to the show, the plot, the music -I walked out and felt moved in a way I had never felt before. That feeling has stayed with me and this show has had a lasting impact on my life. I truly feel like it was MY ‘awakening’. I’ll be 30 in October.

I am in the middle of my community theatre's production of Spring Awakening. To hear these guys who made the original Broadway show talk about how much trouble they had to deal with to get it on stage is EXACTLY what we are dealing with. We struggled to find a performance space, don't have a music director, and are trying our best to raise money due to how controversial it is. But because of how much dedication and effort we are putting in, no matter how much rejection and hate we are getting, I'm sure it is going to pay off in the end, like these guys here. Can't wait to see this.

She was ganged up on by her Glee cast mates. She might not have been the best person on that show and made bad decisions, but it was ONE show. All the news was just about her time on Glee. Other than that, there weren't really any news about her behavior. I also believe people can change and grow. And while her Glee co stars continued to speak about her, after she made her apologies she just remained silent about the issue and quietly moved on with her life.

So excited. Thank god they filmed the reunion concert. Sold out in 3 minutes. I did actually got to see it on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (with about 85% of the original cast including Lea and Jon). Went for my 16th birthday. Sat on the stage. Really unique experience to feel the adrenaline, the angst, and the action take place all around (especially during B**** OF LIVING and TOTALLY F*****). I got spat on my Groff during the reformatory when he jumps off the chair attached to the wall. 5 months later, I auditioned for it. They did a huge open call for replacements in the Broadway production & for the tour. Didn't work out but it was all thanks to my late mom who encouraged me to go in. I remember my mom looking at me after TOTALLY F*****, she said "I can see you doing this. She called it and then a few weeks later, we found out about the audition. Still a learning curb I needed. Still guilty of missing the Deaf West production. Had tickets 2nd to last day but cancelled due to a blizzard. I BELIEVE!!!

She's a bully. Many of her different costars in the last few years have come out and said how she made racist comments about them, bullied them. And this is going back to her Spring Awakening days. And she finally admitted what they said was true. Even some of her Glee costars said she was awful to work with.
