Brit (Ashley Benson), Candy (Vanessa Hudgens), Cotty (Rachel Korine) and Faith (Selena Gomez) have been best friends since grade school. They live together in a boring college dorm and are hungry for adventure. All they have to do is save enough money for spring break to get their shot at having some real fun. A serendipitous encounter with rapper "Alien" (James Franco) promises to provide the girls with all the thrill and excitement they could hope for. Wow, satire is clearly lost on most of you. This movie is a masterpiece, there are a number of levels to this movie. I think the greatest part is that this movie was marketed towards the exact people this movie makes a mockery of. Irony at it's finest.

I know exactly what you mean, when I saw all the people who were going to see it, I really had to wonder if they knew who harmony korine was. It's a risky move on the films part because your marketing towards people who generally lack depth, but in the end that really was the beauty of it, he filled the theaters with the exact people he was mocking in the movie.

The cinematography is superb. The acting is stiff at times and over the top at times. The pacing is oddly manic yet lethargic. The ending is ridiculous.

The ending was terrible, they were just walking down the little bridge and all of the sudden Alien gets shot once and is done just like that? And then the two females who are 100 pounds or less shoot like 30 gangsters by themselves?

The acting besides James Franco was not that good. I agree though the cinematography is very, very good, with the sequence at the very end in particular standing out to me (the idea to have the girls avenge Alien's death underneath a blacklight with their uzis, wearing neon colored bathing suits and ski masks to complete the look, was genius).

I've thought about this movie and really until this review came up my random browsing I thought some more and came to the same conclusion that it still sucks and enter the void is damn near the same thing only instead of in Fl which the movies description of is denotative ecstasy (reality check it's far from true Texas more friendly) but the void is in Tokyo same aesthetics better story springbreaks just dumb the more I think about it&ik it was critiquing those kinda movies as well idk maybe th

Loved this fever dream of a movie. Much like Drive, has that midnight neo-noir feel, and also an artsy take on a B-movie concept. James Franco deserves a nomination.

A lot of people don't understand this movie. Including these reviewers. This movie is a work of art. A masterpiece. The people who are Bashing it should stick to watching pirates of the Caribbean or something easily melted where you know where to laugh and you don't have to actually think or reflect over anything.

I didn't love the film nor did i hated it, i found quite interesting and very beautifully shot and i thought it had a great use of Soundtrack as well as decent acting from all the four girls and specially James Franco. If i had to rate the film it would be 3.5 out of 5.

Great to hear. When the marketing first started, I thought "I have to see this, because it's going to be so horrible that it will be unintentionally hilarious." But now I find myself more & more intrigued by it & hoping what I end up seeing in it is a solid flick.

When I first saw the trailer for "Spring Breakers", I thought it was basically gonna be trash but surprisingly after reading so many good reviews, I think I may just take a chance at seeing it after all. One review that I read says that the film is actually oscar-worthy particularly in these categories: Best Actor (James Franco), Best Original Screenplay (Harmony Korine), and Best Film Editing (Douglass Crise).

I found the movie outstanding, one of the most truly artistic works of cinema I have ever seen. The theme of the movie seems to be spiritual transcendence, mortality versus immortality, time and the human condition. An absolutely amazing work, truly profound. Rewards repeat viewings.

The robbery in the first act shot through the moving car from outside was one of the most fantastical shots in recent memory. The cinematography is definitely worthy of multiple awards, and in my opinion, the movie is as well. Too bad there are so many ignorant haters around here. Guys, you are the subject of the satire presented in this film.

This isn't a bad movie, I would give it a 7/10. I love how people went in expecting a Project X kind of film, but instead got a mix between Drive and The Tree of Life. People shouldn't write this off because they expected something else.

These girls walked into a gangsters house in Bikinis and Ski Masks with guns.. Guys were shooting back at them but they still managed to kill them all.. and guess what? NOT A SINGLE ONE GOT HIT. NO WAY IN HELL WILL THAT EVER HAPPEN.

For once the blonde lady actually makes a good point, the more you think about this film the more you like it, or at least appreciate it's message and artistry. There is a lot more going on here than most people think. With Harmony Korine, you either love him or hate him, but in a way I respect him, he's certainly original, and he has his own unique style and approach to film-making.

Excellent point. Also, as cool as the scorpion jacket is I feel that it serves another purpose. Imo I feel the jacket is another tool used to explain Driver's character. Like the parable of the 'scorpion and fox' (sometimes frog) as much as Driver wants to change he can't because its his nature aka he is the scorpion. I recently saw the book at a book store so I'm def' going to pick it up.

Haha tell me about it! There was that scene where Gosling & William's character had that moment in her apartment w/o any dialogue for a few secs... a heartwarming scene because we as the audience know its hard for Gosling's character to connect w/people. I still remember these dudes, sitting behind me, start laughing during that scene because of the way it was shot & there was no dialogue... *face palm*

What a bad review. This is a masterpiece, one of the best films of the decade, and these people are just seeing it on the surface. You have to see it multile times ro understand it. Best american movie of the last ten, twenty years for sure.

He also really liked the animated movie this week. He's as reliable as any other critic. If you don't like his reviews that should tell you not to listen to him. I don't care what the people on RU-vid say--it's not like they're any more reliable than anyone on the show.

I really liked this movie when I saw it. It's not one of my favorite movies so far this year, but I echo everything that was said in this video. I think your enjoyment of it depends on your expectations. I knew what this movie was going into it, which is why I wasn't dissapointed. There are several scenes that I found completely engrossing (robbery near the beginning, Franco's interaction with Gomez, Franco's Britney Spears piano montage) even though the ending wasn't completely satisfying.

I am glad to hear it. I am elated when a movie exceeds my expectations. Usually, it is the other way around, and the trailers get my hopes up for a film (against my better judgement) and I end up being terrible disappointed. It would nice for the situation to be reversed.

The movie's kind of grown on me as well, to the point where I might go see it again, if only to better understand the message of the film and enjoy the cinematography. I can understand why a lot of people will hate this movie, but there's definitely something here.

I can't decide if I liked this movie or not. It was just dark and weird and I really wasn't ready for that. That's probably the only reason why I may like it. While most people were expecting a typical spring break "party" movie, I thought it was going to end up with Franco breaking them out and forcing them to help him commit crimes if they wanted to leave. Although that's sort of what happened, the execution was completely unexpected.

Yeah, actually it didn't. It has a 61/100 on metacritic and it's been well received by the people that it was supposed to be well received by (not the young MTV generation that he tried to trick into watching it).

I like Harmony Korine's work for the most part, I don't think he'll ever make anything as disturbing as KIDS ever again but Spring Breakers for what it is isn't a bad movie. It's not a particularly good movie, but it's not bad, either. Whether it's satire or not. The movie is absolutely ridiculous towards the end, but honestly that's where the movie is at it's most fun --- the ridiculousness of it all. Alien is easily the best character in the entire movie. The idea that that guy, if real, would actually be such a world class, successful criminal (and not dead or in jail) -- ridiculous. But he stole every scene he was in, basically.

It's a movie review show. If you want a show where people just say "I love it!" You're watching the wrong show. Even for movies they like they are going to be critical.

This was a fantastic art house film, beautifully shot and well acted - an ecstasy ride and a social satire at the same time. One of the best films of the year so far in my opinion, I gave it a B+. I think that if you hated this movie or strongly disliked it, you are just the average filmgoer. It's an art house film, and if you don't understand how social commentary through filmmaking works, and if you don't care about or appreciate the talent behind camera, you won't get it. :(

Many people saying Alonso almost never likes anything is not an opinion; it's the result of a mass observation. It's far more likely that your powers of observation are handicapped than it is that most viewers' powers of observation are. What would it take to convince you? Would we have to go back and count how many movies he rated 6 or below? It's math. It can be proven concretely. Critics who almost never like anything cannot be trusted. The other three are more balanced. They're why I watch.

I respect that you acknowledge pot as a drug. You're still ridiculous. The director made a remark about it being like a drug trip, but was more so implying the narrative proceeded somewhat like a good bender. A trip filled with drugs more so; not exactly "drug trip" as most use the phrase. The days blurring together, and your memory is almost like a slideshow. Them getting arrested comes to mind, as it flashes to bits of partying, blowing lines under a blurry filter, calmer moments in the pool
