I'm not sure exactly where I'm going with this, We'll see. Based on what I said in the video power at 100% efficiency would be 12'*3gpm*.18=6.48W. This is a laughable amount when you consider the turbine is probably only 30% efficient. What's also funny is the turbine is rated at 200mA which at 12V is a whole 2.4W which is close to my estimate of power available. At 80V which is the rated limit that would be 16W
I'm still going to attempt to get permission to use the entire flow and height of the site for hundreds of Watts (with a different turbine).
As an additional datapoint Google Earth says 20ft head x120ft pennstock length.

Based on the parameters you provided: power is 2.4W, current is 200mA or 0.2A, then the voltage is 12V.

DIG DEEPER bury it to the handle, holes only on the side not the bottom. If it is sitting on the ground how will water flow? I would also add a screen mesh and fill it with fine gravel.

thanks for posting. jm, i'm not sure exactly What amount of power YOU think is available at the site. the flow rate is so low, Maybe, four watts could be generated, IF, a Correctly Designed Overshot Waterwheel is used. Ideally, the radius of such a 'wheel Would be fifty percent of the Available Head. cheers

Ah the small one of these I get like 12 volts at 1-2 bar using my shower hose. If I crank it to like half of max I get around 20 volts

You are correct --- volts is pretty meaningless, since voltage is routinely converted up or down to meet the needs at hand. What you ought to be concerned with is the energy you can capture ---power, which is volts times amps with electricity. One amp of current flow at one volt is an energy level of one watt..

no water, no battery, needed. you heard it here first from me.some one with a brain will hook a Micro Hydro Electric Power System up with a mercury motor ( liquid mercury and a magnet), and there you go power forever, using magnetism. Is that so hard?
