I really like your garden. I can tell you find joy in it, so I pray you will have many lovely hours in it. I’m not a fan of the landscape paper. I found it disintegrated too easily. We use the fabric instead, but it must be fastened here, there, and everywhere really well or the wind will pull it up. For your nasty weeds 😡 you may want to get some thick black plastic and cover it until the fall or as long as it takes to kill it all off.

So far I just have grass between my beds, but my garden is also smaller than yours. We have a very small yard! There is just enough space to get the push lawnmower between the beds.

Your garden is beautiful! Have you ever shared what state you are in? Here in Canada it’s not warm enough yet to plant most things.

Oh my gosh. I totally thought that it was too late to plant anything this year, but I take it that it's okay to start planting stuff now in the middle of May???

I believe the weed you’re dealing with is called creeping Charlie. It’s the worst. It has totally destroyed my lawn and it keeps trying to creep into my garden. It has a particular smell. I think you might enjoy cardboard and then mulch on top. I get a local tree company to dump their wood chips in our yard and use the wood chips for mulch. They dump for free cause they usually need somewhere to dump their load. You videos are always a joy to watch. You are a great mama! Happy gardening !

I looked up creeping charlie and you are correct! It is AWFUL. My husband ended up adding layers of cardboard, landscaping paper, and tanbark. I'm hoping that's enough to snuff out those persistent, infuriating weeds!

I love your garden beds. I have a couple greenstalks myself and love them as well. I would like to mention, that when you are adding your soil to the greenstalk, you should cover that center water hole with a cup or something. Just until you fill that layer and move to the next, because soil can clump up in there and clog the watering system. Happen twice to me before I realized what the problem was. And it is a lot of work to take it apart filled with dirt to find the clog. :)

Thank you for the encouragement! There are many benefits to gardening--one of my favorites is my good mood after having my hands in the dirt. :)

I heard that it's good to turn over soil when the sun is almost going down because then whatever you turn over will not have time to start taking root (like weeds and such) and will die because there's no sunlight overnight.
