Hi Fabio You are very (too) kind. Thanks ! But it is true that with our tribute band we try to be as close as possible from original tunes. Not always evident as some of these antiques are quite difficult to reproduce, even with al modern means we have today. Christian
Never heard this little tune before by the Shadows, but your playing is flawless as usual. I love watching you play cos I get to see the fingerings, hats off to you.
+James Street HI James, On a blustery November night you really did make it feel like Spring is nearly here, one of my favourite tunes you have done a good job, brilliant, and superb. Thank you. Mick from Barwell.
What a lovely tune (comme diraient The Shads) Chapeau, les VST..... c'est, encore une fois "tip-top"! Merci de poster, Christian. Amitiés à toi et au groupe virtuel! Joel
Bravo! Simply beautiful, superbly played. An interesting and effective combination of trem arm and finger vibrato with left hand. Keep up your great work!
Thank you Geoff. For information concerning the sound (effects, etc...) the best is to consule my web site here: vintage-sounds.freeforums.net Registration is free. I also distribute my solution free of charge to people who are interested. Regards - Christian
Hi, I discover your channel not long time ago, man you Got the ultimate sound of Hank from the '60 ...what exactly equipment you are using ? Would appreciate your reply...thank you
Thank you Lior, you are very kind In fact, I am not using any specific equipent to obtain Shadows (and other) sounds. I tried many hardware equipment many years ago, including EFTP and so on, but without success, so I decided to create my own solution. This solution is based on VST technology, and the use of a laptop PC, acting as effect rack. If you are interested, you will find all the details on my forum, here: vintage-sounds.freeforums.net You need to register to access all the information, but it is 100% free. You will also see that I have 'packaged' my solution and that I distribute it (free of charge) to people who are interested. Package includes more than 250 ready to use patches, mainly for Shadows, but also for Spotnicks and some other artits. You simply need a good PC (everybody has that nowadays) and an audio interface. best regards - Christian
Thank you Geoff For those people looking for original Shadows sound, VST plugins are THE ultimate solution. Of course it requires good skills in computing technologies and some personal investment to learn, gain experience and build VST patches. But I think the result deserves such an investment. This being said, fortunately, many people like you obtain good results with more 'classic' solutions. Thanks again - Cheers - Christian
Hi Christian. Fabulous upload and sounds, as usual. I never did master the art of "plug-ins", but have learned a lot from your video performances. Thanks. Kind Regards, Geoff
Two things you did perfectly 1. You played it exactly the same way Hank did in the 60s 2. You set the tone of your strat (bridge pickup) exactly the same as Hank's in the original recording! I don't know of any Shadows song that has this tone. It's unique in this song. How did you manage to achieve this unique tone? In the song Perfidia Hank also uses the bridge pickup but it just doesn't sound like in "Spring is Nearly Here".
Hi Thank you ! Way of playing is important for the result. So as we try to reproduce at best these old tunes, all band members walk in original musicians step. Otherwise even if you have the same sound, the result will be different. Concerning the tones of my guitar, it is for a large part a matter of equalization. But not only. If you are really interested by all that, you can visit my forum here: vintage-sounds.freeforums.net/ It is free but requires a registration (to avoid spams and trolls...). I explain the solution I am using, and also I distribute it to musicians that want to use it (it's free too...) Regards - Christian
In addition to the above, if you already have a G1 1Nu, you can try to use it. There is no setup guide but some VST users are using it so you may get some help from them.
