The Scutellinia scutellata is so precious. I only found it once so far - very pretty little fellow 😅

I agree - they are really beautiful! They always make me want to shrink down to fully observe, they are so small, but so finely detailed!

That's awesome - really glad to hear! I checked my typical spots while out on a run today and still not quite up in my areas. I keep thinking any day now. Thanks for the update and enjoy!

Just stumbled upon your page, absolutely loving. Currently working out the move to Oregon in June! Can't wait to get out in the forest more and explore, I miss it

Also, the ganoderma applanateum in the video look to be something else, potentially. The woody, and layered top of them seems so odd, nothing like the ones I've found in the Upper Midwest. Maybe something new!

Awesome! Welcome aboard! Appreciate the feedback and, boy, that would be prime time to get back into the PNW! Get all settled in just in time for the Autumn boom. Can't wait to get the next video out your way!

And, yes, that mini ganoderma threw me for a loop ... still pondering it, but don't know of anything else offhand that has those characteristics. Kind of interesting to see...

@@MushroomTrail I haven't been out exploring too much as of yet as crawling out of this winter felt akin to crawling out of twenty and I'm a bit slow off the mark, but found a patch of beautiful Scarlet Elf Cups a few weeks back, and a gorgeous Coprinus sp. in my own back garden. I thought it was macrocephalus as I'd not come across a Hares-foot that robust, but now I'm not sure?.... It's under the new FUNGI 2024 page of my website (macro photography, and many years of fungi pics if you're interested to see the species I see, I'm also extremely obsessed with lichens so I appreciate you talking about those when you find a cool patch).... we've had so, so, SO much heavy rain and gale force winds here, even on brighter days, so not ideal photography weather as you know! ...even though fungi are perfectly thoughtful little subjects as they stand their ground pretty good, but I've just stocked up on healthy food to get my strength up and I intend on going on a massive fungi/insect/lichen/spring plant adventure the first day that allows! : ) I've never found an eyelash fungus btw!! I guess I'll just have to look harder! x

Whoa! Awesome shots of the Scarlet Elf Cup - what a beauty! And incredible website - keep doing what you're doing - awesome to be able to share your gifts with the world!

Awesome! That is great news! I still haven't encountered Verpas in my usual local cottonwood stands ... but a buddy just sent me pics of a nice haul of landscape morels. Curious to know which species you're seeing fruiting out in Oregon? Can't wait to bring some Morels to the table! Any day now... enjoy yours, and thanks again for tuning in!

Thanks - appreciate you tuning in! And thanks for the feedback - I do have an external mic, but I'm not always great about using it. The times I have, the audio sounded flat to me... Still working to get my audio game in gear. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Mush luv!

Can you please tell me where to look I'm in hood river for the weekend. We want to find some morels but it's so hard in our neck of the woods! I don't even want to harvest any, I just want to find some and learn about how to find them hands on
@MushroomTrail
@MushroomTrail 4 месяца назад
Morels can definitely be tricky here in the PNW. Your best bet is to check either under Black Cottonwoods (which there should be plenty of along the river) or where there was a 2023 wildfire. I do remember there being a fire last summer across the bridge from Hood River in Washington. I don't know the specifics on that one and whether it was on public or private land, but I would recommend doing some research on that and seeing if that seems like an accessible location ... I would be super interested to poke around there.

Thanks! I am constantly taking spore prints - so much to be learned! And that can be an incredibly useful step in the ID process. Are you also taking spore prints? Appreciate you tuning in!

@@MushroomTrail I'm trying to collect cultures for fungi diversity preservation of my country(Korea). Due to low population and interest in mushrooms, Korea national agricultural research center says securing culture resources is the most important thing to do

Waay too much loud sound blurring out the spoken word. In the future if making a video ,tone down the noise of the so called “music”

Hey this is a genuine question and not a joke. I see the footage of your surroundings and you seem to really be out in the forest there. Do you ever worry about possibly running into Bigfoot? I've heard so many stories about it and I want to go hiking out there like you, but the thought of it freaks me out a bit.
@MushroomTrail
@MushroomTrail 4 месяца назад
I love this question! I do try to be mindful of bears, mountain lions, and humans ... but I honestly don't worry about any of them too much. And I don't worry much about Bigfoot -- I just feel like if he is out there, him and I would probably get along pretty well. I may be naive on that front. Have you heard of any scary encounters out there? I will say that I always make a very conscious effort to be respectful of my environment, and I do carry a lot of love for the natural world around me. Maybe that helps?
