Some years ago I brought a friend who had never been steelhead fishing and we went with David on the Trask. 13 fish hooked and 8 landed, and we still occasionally talk about that trip. Fantastic guide!
Interesting insight on the Clackamas. Hopefully this new Chinook broodstock program will put some more hatchery chinook in that river. I wasn't fishing "back in the day" unfortunately but I feel like this year's winter steelhead on the Clackamas was about on course with most other rivers in the PNW as far as angler success. David is a wealth of knowledge. Hope to run I to him on the water someday.

Around what time of year do you think salmon are in the rivers such as the Clackamas and sandy? I know they are in the big rivers right now but am curious what month would be the best to start targeting these fish? I gave winter steelhead a shot but wasn’t able to get as many days on the water as I would have wanted, and am hoping to nail a spring chinook as redemption.
