Top of the New Years Day 2018 to you!
Here are getting a small Redwood handled with the aid of my Springboard that dates back to the mid '80.
I think it is pretty well explained in the video dialog in a concise but brief description as far as the ins and outs of the notch.
I did mention jack seat @ 10:19 as a miss que. I was thinking about a sag-way into what is important to look out for if you are needing to jack a tree while on a springboard/s/staging but that will be at a later date.
As we embark into 2018, I hope that all is well in your camp and that God is smiling on the coming adventures!
Thanks for watching.

Good to see somebody still spring board something every great once in awhile. Jack.......you made my 30 year old knees hurt watchin you jump from 5' off the deck, but survival is the key factor in that program. Always a pleasure watching you in the brush, safe cuttin pard

Happy New Year Jack! No logging for me for about 7 days. So I'll watch ll your videos! Got a real bad flu and sinus infection. Plus it's 6 degrees here in the Blue Ridge of the SW Appalachians. God will heal me and bring me back to the woods next week. Be safe and may God continue to Bless you and watch over you. Good seeing you.

The saw in the video is the saw Jack did for me. Excellent running saw it is very impressive. Night and day difference between that one and a stock one.

You are too cool. Do you think you could make a tree like that fall on my neighbor's house? Jerks blast rap music all night long.

Pretty work Jack, pretty work. Most days I can't make getting into the driver's side of the pickup look that easy. Saw sounds awesome, very crisp. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, God bless.

Steve hi. I've done paid..... But I like a bonk on the gourd even less. In the 80's this was pretty much a daily experience. Had to hang right there more than I want to admit. Thanks for watching.

Pretty cool. Don't see a lot of springboards used these days outside the logging show. Neat camera angle too. The first step is a bit hard on the knees, but beats being beat by a top I suppose!

Steve hi. It was sop back in the old growth days. A guy would have several spring boards and lots of staging. Doug Fir - I'm down to this is one. It's from back in the '80s Wait What!!! LOL. Thanks "fir" watching

Cristi hi. This is a clients' saw, on the maiden voyage, so it's running quite rich. Assembly lube and a really fat high speed needle = what you see. Thanks for watching.

Good job! I love your videos! Reminds me of growing up tramping around the northwest, and getting to go out on the strip with my dad. I was in my teens when he retired. Finished his career of just south of Fortuna cutting old growth back in the early 2000's. I got to see and help with a couple 8 and 10 footers. Anyway love the vids thanks jack!
@hotsaws101
@hotsaws101 6 лет назад
Jake hi. Yager Creek? There was not much really big old growth being cut by the early 00's. The Headwaters Forest kind of curtailed that. Seems like it started to wane by the mid 90's. Understandable why a guy would choose to retire. Thanks for watching.
@jakemesa3211
@jakemesa3211 6 лет назад
hotsaws101 yeah not much at all back then. He cut for high country timber at the time. They where contracted to fall for Columbia helicopters. Can't remember where at exactly where at. I was about 13 at the time. I do know it was a pretty select group of fallers that was working that job. Trees big enough they had to be ripped in half so the Chinook could fly em out.
