Had the Springboks won that game against the Aussies it would be the ultimate humiliation for the All blacks to play a semi-final against the Boks and lose in their backyard. The fact that the All blacks did not play the Springboks in the semi's is the ONLY reason why New Zealanders still play Rugby to this day. Had the Springboks play the All Blacks and after that go on to win the world cup against France the All-Black brand would be so damaged it would have destroyed the culture in the country. Had the Springboks defended the world cup in 2011 New Zealand Rugby would be in the same state as Brazilian Football - the All-black magic would have vanished, and the New Zealand public would have fell out of love with the game because they would have KNOWN that there is only one team in world rugby deserving of the title of GOAT - I would go as far as saying the fact that the Springboks did not win the 2011 world cup is the greatest reason why the All blacks were the dominating force between 2011 to 2015.
