Yeah man, I picked up an XDS Mod2 .45 in 2022 as one of Springfield’s Gear Up packages (5 mags & Crimson Trace red dot included). I don’t know what kind of voodoo magic they put in that gun but I totally agree- it’s VERY mild to shoot for the size/caliber plus it’s insanely accurate. I cannot recommend this firearm (in .45ACP) enough. Don’t let the capacity bother you- 6-7 shots out of a semi-auto is different than a revolver because of the quick mag change. AWESOME GUN!!!
In my opinion, for most people 5 shots is plenty, so why compromise power for capacity? 90% of people will never be able to get off more than 3 rounds in a defensive situation anyways, they happen in split seconds. I could carry a J frame with plus P .38s and I would not feel any less armed than I would with my 43X MOS, other than lack of red dot and light.
How about the MOST overlooked? I tried the XD line in 9, 40 and 45 and they have always impressed me how well designed it is. If I wasn't a CZ fan, Springfield would be my baby
I am digging the new sig p365 Xmacro, but if I didn't have that it'd seriously be the hellcat pro or the echelon in my holster. I also have a non optics ready 45 xds mod 2 as a backup to my Xmacro
@@benknight6856 the 9mm is more comfortable to shoot. Comfort/low recoil = accuracy & fast follow up shots. I’ve owned the 45-sold it and bought the 9. Just my opinion. Good luck with your decision!
@@benknight6856 I was a new shooter. Highly recommended! Excellent quality! The Mod2 in 9 is 7 +1 and 9+1. With the 7, you almost forget it's on your hip. Feel it a bit with the 9.
If you need a gun quicker I suggest this, because it's cheaper to get into than a good 357 magnum. If you don't, well then I would suggest the Smith and Wesson 686+. It is a 7 shot 357 magnum.
I shot this gun extremely well in a promotional shooting competition, love it! I had the original before the recall, it was a PRP special & the recall took out most of the options…lol great guns
Great table-top review. Hope to see on on that model with shooting footage. I have the older XD MOD 2 in 45acp and I have loved that gun to this day. The trigger took some getting used to but once I did it is pretty amazing and I have never had a malfunction out of it at about over 2500 rounds of various ammo. The new one you show looks even slimmer which is great for concealed carry no doubt.
I have a Mod 1 in.45 and it’s great. For a 3” barrel it’s a tack driver and extremely reliable. It’s also one of the most comfortable guns to carry, and I can actually get a full grip on it with my XL size hands with a 6 round magazine.
I love XD series their the best imo I currently have the old faithful XDM in 9mm very reliable and it holds 19 😊 going to purchase this beauty for sure thanks great video
I've got the osp 9mm. It has 7, 8 or 9 rounds. I prefer the 8 rounds with one in the chamber. The size and weight of the handgun is what keeps on my hip
I got one with the crimson trace package which I didn't mind, but I upgraded to a Holosun. I carry it to the gym on my sweat pants no issues. Great gun.
I have a Springfield xds 40 caliber and I love it. And I realized the bigger the caliber the less rounds and that's because you don't need that many rounds because of the size of the rounds. Desert eagle hold like 7 or 8 I believe. A 9mm hold so many rounds because that round doesn't have that power like a 40 or a 45. It can take one or two shots with a 40 and a 45 but you damn near have to empty a mag now does to drop an enemy. And you don't need that many rounds to drop your enemy with the 40 or 45.
I love mine. .45 hand cannon in a 3.3 inch package, I bought a pretty great blue laser/like 1800 lumen light combo from olight for that added feature of being able to clear a house etc at night with the combination of mine coming with tritium night sights out of factory. But I do wish mine came with the slide for things like a red dot. So I’ve been trying to find a replacement slide to be able to throw a red dot on it but even without it still has been a reliable EDC firearm. And another great feature is the iron sights that come on these guns are sturdy they don’t break off that easy allowing you to rack it on a desk or potentially even your leg of your pants if you get good enough to be able to do that I’ve seen people rack these on their leg of their pants. All around these are a pretty great EDC
I had both the 9mm and the 45 acp versions. I didn’t like the limited round count and the recoil was just too much with the 45. I recently got the Shield Plus in 9mm and it seems to be a step up in all counts.
Great gun. Always wanted one myself. I'm like you when it comes to smaller, easier to conceal firearms. (I think I like the smallest guns a little more though, like the Baby Browningsm NAA revolvers and other guns around the same size like all the .25acp and .22 pocket guns).
Everybody craps on Springfield but my old xd9 I had, honestly I regret selling because it shot so good and reliably. I recently got one of these xds in 45 with a range bag and 5 mags plus a ct-1500. It feels awesome and I can shoot it better than my g43. I reload some of the Lehigh 135 xd for thid thing and cant wait to test them out. I like the norma 175 mhp out of this as well becsuse they shoot really flat and hit steel really hard. Test show they don’t fully open but they do open consistently enough and get about 13-14” which is good enough for me. Keeps the weight down some but the 135s do even better with weight but I just have to function test them before carrying them.
@SPN Firearms Thanks for the video. Unrelated content suggestion - it would be interesting to discuss which non-Glocks/clones take Glock parts and mags. Give that some thought. 👍
Thank you for the video! Just buy mine yesterday earlier Bday present, quick question what holster brand do you recommend for pocket holster? Again thank you!
There are certain guns or companies that are almost popular to hate on. I still carry the shield 2.0 and don't plan on changing any time soon. I am so comfortable with it. I am pretty bummed that I started having rust problems a year after buying it.
bought my mod 2 40 brand new and it along with my 9s are my edc's. i have shot the 45 and personally didn't like recoil at all. mine has the red fiber front. i don't mind the 7+1 as statistics show i won't need more than that. i have larger hands and everything is iwb so I'll never use the flush mags for pocket carry and i can fit all fingers on the extended mag
@@BigGoat313 no worries. Honestly they are both great choices. And if you want to use them for either a concealed carry or home defense role, both would be effective. I’m a detective and i carry a G30 at work every day. It’s a great gun; reliable and accurate. But i personally find it too big to comfortably conceal. Once I clock out, it gets locked up, and it’s either an XDS-45 or Shield Plus 9. I have a bunch of other stuff, but those are my two primary choices.
