So I did this tutorial today - first time with stamps let alone Vaseline 😂 and I cannot believe the result - it’s incredible 👏👌! I never say that about my paintings but it was such fun to do and beyond effective. I cannot thank you enough for teaching us this 🤗👌🙏!

Came across your video. I’m rapidly losing my vision and it’s gotten extremely frustrating trying to draw things naturally. I thought stamps were “cheating”-at this point, I just want to keep painting. And you have completely changed my mind on how stamps look-this is stunning!

Ohh my dear... I feel both happy and sad reading your comments... Sad because I soooo feel for you regarding your eyesight. I just wish you don't loose it all together... ohhh, my heart goes out to you!! On the other hand, I'm so happy that you find my way of useing stamps something you might consider... I dicovered Laninia Stamps in April 2021, so I've just done this for a few years myself. Fuseing stamps and watercolors is sooo much fun, and almost all my pieces is like this now. If you really want to try this technique, I highly recommend Lavinia Stamps. I find them sooo detailed and delicate.... If you check my Playlist here at Del Bello's, you'll find that I di a lot of nature inspired pieces, and you being a watercolor artist should start with some of the lovely trees, foliage and flowers they have...just a suggestion from me, tho.... @@nprudtatorn The vaseline kinda soakes into the paper. No residues, I mean you can't feel the vaseline... I let it dry for a few minutes before adding colors... love, E

Stunning work. You put so much work into this and it looks natural, like a picture of a field of flowers. My one question is this: what happened with the Vaseline? You rubbed off the masking fluid, but I didn't see what you did with the Vaseline? Did you remove it? Thanks so much. Love your work!!!

Thanks a lot for your comments. The vaseline kinda "soakes" into the paper and make a resist, as you can see when I start with the watercoloring. So the vaseline is still there, but you can't "feel" it. I mean, there is no kinda greasy parts on the piece...I hope that make sense? Please, give it a go... love E 💜

@ElisabethSchwabe do you have worry about residue from the vaseline affecting the paper? I would think you would get something that would resemble an oil stain. The picture is beautiful as is all of your work.

It’s a beautiful card! I love what you did - however I think I missed a step somewhere - did you rub the Vaseline off or did it somehow dry? I’ve used Vaseline for other types of resist, but never something quite like this - and we always rub the Vaseline off, so I was wondering if that’s what you did? Thank you.

Oh my gosh, this is soooooo beautiful! I have never had the knowledge or courage to try these techniques but I love yours so much I really want to try! I do have a question though, what happened to the Vaseline that you stamped with, that is, does it dry away by itself or did you pat it with a paper towel? I had heard of using it but assumed that it would leave a big grease/oil stain on the paper. Thank you so much for sharing your techniques with us. As an aside, dandelions are one of my favorite flowers. Did you use to wish on them as a child?

Imean, there are no "greasy" spots on the card, if you know what I mean... @@DelBellosDesigns I often bring them up and say that adults should have to make a wish on one because doing that will make them seriously think about their priorities--one wish only, what shall it be? We also used the power of pinky wishes for really, REALLY important wishes. You and your bestie would link pinky fingers, you'd tell your bestie what your wish was so they could wish it right along with you. Pinky wishes were seriously powerful! And dandelions saved a lives during the Great Depression--they were a food source! Thank you so much for your kind reply Elisabeth! Thank you so much... The vaseline kinda soakes into the paper, and leaves no residue... when you touch it, you can't feel the vaseline and there is no "greasy" parts, if that makes sense?? I hope you'll give it a go... love, E

I have now ordered some watercolour paints and want to check in my Lavinia stash that I have the dandelions. Can you tell me does the vaseline just dry or do you have to set it in some way?

Hi there.... the vaseline kinda soakes into the paper, with no residue, so no fixative needed. I do, however, usually use a fixative for my watercolor pieces to preserve the colors bright over time, espesially if I'm going to frame it. You could use a cheap hairspray, but I do recommend a fixative for watercolors though.... they are a bit costly, but will last forever... hope this helps... love, elisabeth 💜

Merci beaucoup. Oui, les pissenlits sont des timbres. Je mets la vaseline sur un morceau de bloc acrylique et tapote doucement les tampons dedans. J'espère que cela a du sens ? Hi there... yes, the vaseline kinda soakes into the paper and makes a resist, as you can see when I start watercoloring in the video. There will be no residue on the piece, I mean, no "greasy" parts, if that makes sense?? Hope you'll give it a go.... love, E 💜

Hi there Sue. The white gouache is much more opaque than watercolors, and when the paper is still wet, it kinda reacts like watercolors. meaning that it blends naturally with the other colors, and gives you a lovely background. You can kinda see the different ways it reacts. The first time I flick on white gouache it kinda blends in because the paper is wet, and creates like orbs on the paper. The second time I flick gouache, the paper is dry, and the color doesn't blend in... I hope this makes sense?? P.S.And you could also use white acrylic paint, but deluted.... Love E 💜
