I never seen such a bunch of hypocrites, worrying about the shell sponsorship. Every part of a bicycle could not be made with out some type of fossil fuel being used in the production of it. You all drive to cycling events using fossil fuels. I’m in Turkey at the moment and it is full of Brits flying in from the all over the Uk for their holidays. Hypocrite s every one of you moaning about fossil fuels. How are you going to keep warm this winter, some type of fossil fuels. Even if you burn wood, pollution. Hypocrites. By the way Chris , love your show. 😀
"Every part of a bicycle ..." we (humanity) are fixing that - electricity now being produced more cheaply sustainably. Iron can be smelted more ethically, drive to events in an electric car more cheaply (over the lifetime of the car), go on holiday using ethical transport - trains are faster to some parts of Europe from the UK than planes. It isn't hypocritical, it is well informed to dislike Shell Sponsorship! We need fossil fuel at the moment but it is rapidly being replaced because it costs us FAR more than we pay for it in terms of environmental degradation. You fill up at a petrol/gas station and you pay for your fuel - you aren't paying for the damage you DIRECTLY are causing by driving that vehicle!
For Mr Cippolini He can appeal. In Italy it’s normal to appeal and these usually take 3-5 years to be heard. A bit like justice will be like here in the UK soon.
The deal British cycling needs to make is a tv deal, maybe even with gcn, actually show some UK races & the tour series etc live and maybe build the sport more here... Or do British cycling like it to be like a big secret
@Mark Roe already mentioned it below but every cyclist that is aghast at the Shell sponsorship best be equally ready to abandon their prized carbon fiber steeds. CF requires petroleum for production and its end product is not easily recycled.
Drugs don't work people Drugs don't work coming out pro cycling Lance knows, chats about it his pod, Jan Ullrich battles his own drink. drugs post cycling woes, same DV
Tbf, Shell is investing a lot in green(er) energy in the UK, so it’s not like they are just producing oil. HSBC is arguably as bad or worse, once you do some light digging.
Pro cycling is one of the least environmentally friendly sports out there. Have you seen how many cars and motorbikes are around a pro race? Formula 1 is carbon neutral, pro cycling isn’t.
