Just a heads up but the quartz sleeve cleaner is meant for freshwater and will rust overtime in a saltwater environment. Not sure if you have a way around this but just wanted to let you guys know! I recently purchased A UV sterilizer unit and looked into this but couldn't find a replacement or alternative for a saltwater sleeve cleaner :) great vid, keep it up!

What a big difference in the hair algae you cant really see any and the big tank in the front of the shot is crystal clear. Love your videos! Thanks 💜🐠💜

i have owned two very successful restoration companies. I love ozone. I also use activated carbon in air scrubbers a lot. Don't worry about any ozone danger. It is highly reactive in salt water. It will not last long enough to damage anything. It will age plastics and destroy seals in the air.

I’m new to salt water aquariums and have had mine going for a little over a month now. I found your site on Reef2Reef and made my first order of a couple zoas, especially after seeing how detailed your site is and your in Ohio like I am. There aren’t many stores around me and what they have is limited. I want to start a small Zoa garden in a corner of my tank and have one Rasta doing really well. After seeing your videos here on RU-vid I feel very confident on what I have ordered and can’t wait to get them in my tank. Your system looks amazing, clean, and professional.

I really love the "rounded ring arches" in this rockwork, the right side especially is really unique in shape and design of rockwork. It reminds me a bit of the Apple Park Campus. Just not a shape I've even seen. Fits the big footprint of the tank well. Nice work!

make sure to re-home some of those snails once the algae calms down to avoid snail starvation! So excited to see this tank grow!

We use Ozone at the store. It's only used on the fish systems to keep the water more sterile. It does improve the water clarity and we barely scrub the tanks.

Hey Thane, wanted to reach out and let you know that I enjoy your videos and appreciate the updates at Tidal Gardens. I agree with you that its a scaling issue that hopefully can be solved by looking to the water treatment industry. It would be ideal if you could find a system that reduces maintenance and cost of ownership makes financial sense. Looking forward to a future video that explains the route you chose and rationale behind it.

I think water clarity increases PAR which increases production in the coral farm so not only will you save on maintenance it should have a measurable impact on coral growth
@CharlesLales
@CharlesLales 3 года назад
Ozone is definitely a good investigation! Air dry system before ozone generator to maximize production. And combine it with UV, before UV in fact, will neutralise O3 in water and avoid strong smell. Check out koi setup, eventually comparable sizing as yours. Impatient to see your results ;-)

+1 on being wary on using drinking water uv sterilisers in salt water, loads of metal for the wiper guiding rods

Thane, Andrew Sandler just posted a video of facebook showing some of his life support systems. One piece is the UV system its a 10 bulb 3500 watt. Its at 35 sec in the video.

Super cool! My previous tank I had the pentair with the wiper blades, back then no one ever mentioned the rod for the wiper blades aren’t designed for saltwater applications, if you get one with a slide rod in the future , I would just couple check on that. But anyway super cool, love all your vids! Check out if you can get yourself the Pentair aquatic ecosystems catalogs I get one every year and I love them, if you don’t already have one you’ll love it!

Pincushion does that to hide itself from any kind of risk, please get Pincushion a hat which can cover it and then it would not pick snails or anything else to cover as it's body would already be covered

Made me laugh when he pulled out the 80w HO UV for the 2500g and I’m here running it on a 200g system LOL... Be careful with commercial units, metals are comment used in contact areas since it isn’t a concern with drinking/potable sources
@MrAndyFizz
@MrAndyFizz 3 года назад
These aquaria uv units don’t sterilise wattage way too low, they only clarify and stop algae cell growth, what you need is and ATG UV wafer commercial will sterilise

Do you think there could be any offset in cost if you were to setup a major dehumidifier system in the building, collected the water, and with a boost pump ran it though the rodi system?

We do have UV with wipers, but they have metal parts and that is a no-no for saltwater, unfortunately.

just add coral rubble for pincushions, mine never bother snails with those around
@DarkSky0685

Buy some 3d printed caps/helmets and give them to your pincushions. They're more than happy if a majority of their body is covered and won't pick up sleeping snails.

Going to want to watch using Ozone on that big a system Than. If you can smell it in the air, you're using to much and that can be very bad for YOU and your crew.
