Can't believe I talked about this last night with www.youtube.com/@the_dixon_way and now it is a rumor. Would you want it to happen? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO! www.kens5.com/article/sports/nba/spurs/rumor-mill-spurs-packaging-first-round-picks-hawks-no-1-overall-pick-san-antonio/273-f129de29-20db-4344-8984-c300e7905842
I wouldn’t I’ll grab Sarr.. Funny how our pettiful Atlanta franchise can be swindled, but the championship organizations know what to do and in every trade scenario the Hawks get fleeced. So there’s no stars in the draft but the spurs want our number one and a give us two futures first for it??? Or how about trade a hof pg for some Laker or Miami Heat future firsts whoa that’s always nice. Man bump that take Sarr give your diminutive pg star a great defender who has handles and a shot and you can’t teach 7’1. After that if you wanna trade Murray and Bogi for KAt , or Beal or Ingram do it. Just trade Capella for a Caruso or Marcus Smart and roll it out. Trae Trae Trae. Smart Caruso Beal JJ. JJ. B.I Kat Kat. JJ Sarr. Sarr. Sarr
@@sinastir7688 no they wouldn’t . Memphis don’t want Smart, Chicago looking to have a fire sale, n.o. don’t wanna pay Ingram he’s always hurt, and KAT back on the block after bombing and the wolves need a pg and the best move is moving Rudy but no one gonna overpay for Rudy they gave up five firsts. The Hawks are having Murray, Hunter, Bogi, Capella,& possibly okungu on the block. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, as a business owner you gotta know when to buy or sell
I'm not saying they should do it, but, Wemby can defend in space and on the perimeter. Saar could lock the paint down and protect the rim against anyone. Wemby is the weakside help defender who is watching the weakside corner, if they get past Saar, Wemby could be coming in hot. It could work.
Spurs need to keep both picks and draft best available i.e. point guard and a wing. Castle or Topic at 4 and Tidjane Salaun at 8. 2025 is when the Spurs should package picks for either Frenchmen Noa Essengue 6'10" SF/PF, Nolan Traore 6'4" PG or Rutgers bound Ace Bailey 6'8" SF
If the front office would guarantee me that they would get a PG like Darius Garland, Anfernee Simons or Dejounte Murray, then yes i would luv it if they trade up the 4th and 8th picks to Atlanta's 1st pick in a heartbeat to get ALEX SARR.
Difficult to respond if Risacher is better by himself than Topic + Salaün for exemple. Sarr is something else. He could get the Spurs from a bad defensive team to a top defensive team with Wemby. The amount of rebounds taken by these 2 could be huge. But what about the offensive part? I don't know if it would get the work done but it's a transformative move on the team. And it settles the Wemby replacement problem. Sarr goes to 4, Wemby to 5, Sochan goes 3. When Wemby's out, Sarr goes 5, Sochan goes 4. When Wemby and Sarr are on the floor double teaming Wemby would be way more difficult.
I agree but being the number 1 pick means we need to pay him a lot.. extension after rookie contract+wemby contact then our capspace probably gone T.T unless sarr is okay being a borderline quality player on winning team, coz he will want that max contract
I honestly think teams drafting any French player have to think in the back of their mind "this is just a rental". We don't need to poach French players, they are smart and want to come play with Vic and the Spurs soon enough. GSG!!!
I was contemplating this trade for the past couple of days*. Trying to get inside the minds of PATFO. I think they want the "Twin Towers" 2.0 because of the rule changes that the NBA has made and are highly considering for the upcoming years. Its going back to the gritty defensive interior, and having TWO elite 7ft defenders with abnormal agility covering the paint would literally make all teams wanna quit. Not only is Sarr an elite defender and athlete, he has shown glimpses of great modern offensive ability. My only concern with pairing him with Wemby is that we are in desperate need of a wing and pg. However, maybe pushing Sochan to SF and allowing Tre and Wemby to operate the offense is the plan? Giving Wemby an option like Sarr to pass to on the inside would be insane. Only those two players could actually grab the passes they make to each other, and that would cause chaos for defenses league wide. Edit: typo
I think the Spurs hold the offer until they see who takes who... And it may also have more to do with who the Spurs draft as well... Plus it spices up the draft night and gets people to tune in. 🙂
I mean I guess I wouldn’t hate that but they have to be sure that either Sarr and Rishcher are going to be future potential all-stars. With the 4th and 8th we can get some solid role players so im not sure if this is a deal you would want to make.
I would only do this for Sarr AND also only if I was getting a vet point guard via trade. Put these 2 moves together and you have a playoff team next year. My feeling is that the potential for this comes down to how you view Sarr. If Atlanta does not think Sarr is a player to build around, then this makes sense as they could get a big man in Clinghan as well as another top 10 pick. For SA, I think they have to see Sarr as a big mobile 4. If you do this and add a vet PG who can also defend, then the defensive prowess of this team changes overnight. I can see SA being a top 5 defensive team next year. The PG would also now have 2 bigs to get the ball to. Even if you stuck with Trae at point, the defense gets a huge upgrade. Personally, I like it, but I doubt Atlanta would part with No. 1 for just the 4, 8 and a couple of second round picks. But if they were willing to part with No. 1 for a reasonable price, I would think long and hard about this. This could make you a playoff team next year. I’m not convinced that picking at 4 and 8 does that.
No doubt that Sarr will change the face of the Spurs. I would make that trade. It's all about investment. We are going to invest into Wemby and Sarr for at least 10 to 15 yrs. In that time, the trade we make will be less of a shock and more of a great deal. We have 30 more draft picks coming in the next 4 yrs. Plenty of time to move up, make trades, and sign FA's.
I would be happy if PATFO will give up the 4th pick, the 35th and the 48th pick in exchange for the number 1 pick for this year. To save the number 8 pick for this year would be crucial. The SAS could use it pick one player from these guys: Salaun, Reed Sheppard, Castle, Clingan. Or use the number 8 plus asset/s(KJ, Tre Jones, Collins or Malaki or whoever)to trade for the second pick. That will secure the SAS both the number 1 and number 2 pick. It would be great to pick up Sarr and Risacher in this draft . It would give SAS a starting five if Wemby, Sarr, Risacher, Vassell and a point guard. Sochan can play off the bench together with Blake Wesley, Mamu, Sidy, Dom Barlow an few others.
Hello TSR…. I subscribe and love your Spurs content! Bravo! Have turned on others to your channel. In a previous post, you took a poll and were surprised that most of us Spurs fans are pulling for the Mavericks in the Finals. (I was born in SA in the mid 60’s) I grew up ABA… Spurs nation does NOT hate the Mavs - we want to beat them, but we respect them (see Dirks final game in SA) Spurs nation hates the Lakers! THEY are our real rivals, NOT the Texas teams. Just wanted to clear this quandary up. Go Spurs Go! Kevin S.
IMO Clingan is better than Sarr. He has the same standing reach as wemby @ 9'7" and the body 280lbs to match up against opposing physical bigs that wemby would otherwise have to defend.
Idk about "better" but I'd still love to have him on the team we wouldn't need him for offense mostly for the other things which would be perfectly fine to pair with Victor and having a huge frontcourt would be a bonus
The only way I would trade 4&8 to the hawks is if we somehow do a Trae Young deal as well. We can’t leave the draft without an answer at the Point Guard spot
With the acknowledgement that the Spurs staff knows more than I do, I think 4 & 8 have more value that #1 in this draft, In a draft like this your all stars are probably going to come from more random picks (think 2013 where it was the 2nd, 15th and 27th picks). If we compare Risacher or Sarr, to say Ron Holland, I personally think Ron is more likely to end up a star, but he is also way more likely to be just a bench player. There's no one in this draft that is an obvious homerun, so taking more swings makes more sense to me.
How about go for no.2 pick with Wizard instead of no.1 pick with Hawk? Hawk only can pick one between Sarr and Risacher at no.1, then we can pick anyone who isn't no.1. Sarr and Risacher are all good additions to Spur. But if we trade with Wizard, we can get more. I think no.4 + no.8 + Keldon for no.2 + Avdija is available. There has no chance with Bilal unless we put Vassell on the table. I don't want see we give their picks back to Hawk just for this year's no.1 pick. Maybe next year.
Honestly sure, I believe in Sarr or Risacher at #1 if it only takes 4 and 8. But, I’m only ok with that if we can still get Garland because we need our point guard. And I’m pretty sure they’ll want pick 4 and/or 8 for him. But I wouldn’t give up both. We need to get a good point guard and wing this offseason.
NO, ALIEN IN THE MASK👽... Sarr Isnt the best center in this draft right now .His "potential" is higher the experts say, BUT if he was who they say he was.... THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY TALK OF TRADEs.... Or this much movement in mocks ... Call me CRAZY .... Atlanta wants to screw Satown so they pick Risacher, Wizard shock the world .. Best Shooter Reed.... And Houston links to dilly and have time to develop his weight...... Ooh shit there is Sarr in 210. This draft is funny cause bo natter what they do infront of Spurs ... Spurs can counter it if they choose best available or fit ..there isnt a player who comes perfect but this draft is a great guessing game. MY OPINION. IF SPURS package there second round picks and a player like devonte/blake/malaki..for a mid to late first round pick... We could have the ultimate insurance if we want to hella swing for the fences ... Oooh we niss on a guard early ... Check all the guards will potential and height inlate round... Boo hoo we miss a wing or center early ... Do u see the "potential". . SPURS after the "experiment pg" we were fighting and in games with backups.... And FANS want to ruin Chemistry ... with stars who couldnt lead whatever team they were on anywher... Dont spend noney ...FANS need to lift our players TO STARDOM.... And BELIEVE WHAT U WITNESSED AT THE END OF THE SEASSON.... Denver remembers..... GO SPURS GO
Only way I'd trade 4 and 8 against pick 1, is in a bigger trade. Atlanta would have to include Trae or Dejounte and ofc we'd have to have some first rounders and players to balance salary. We still need defense, 3 point shooting and a floor general, that's why this situation is so tricky :O
One other thing that needs consideration: Victor Wembanyama. How well does he know either of these potential top-2 picks? If Wemby signifies that either of them will work well with him as they develop, PATFO should listen and consider taking a swing.
I rather keep our picks. Prefer castle, dilly at the point. We can get some sf in this draft- buzelis, Cody Williams, Ron H. I would entertain Keldon, Branham, Wesley and one of these picks to get a guy or two move up and get a guy or two. To me Wemby, Vassell (for now) and Sochan are the key building blocks. Keep Trae jones and champ. Collins and Graham are other guys to trade maybe sign and trade with our plethora of 2nd round picks. KCP, Derrick Jones Jr would be nice additions. Defensively wings to mentor a young wing
The College Program is in a Really Sad State.....for this Year. I mean, a Two Time College Player of the Year is hardly ever mentioned. In any Year in the 90's or the 2000's, He would have been the consensus Number One Pick and probably would have been Considered as a Generational Big Man. Now, he is like a "fart in the wind" because he can't Shoot The 3 and Space The Floor. That is why I like Dereck Lively of Dallas. The dude is not a shooter/floor spacer but everybody can see his impact to Dallas' Game.
With those two second round picks trade up to get Ryan Dunn late first round or early second round. He’s the best defender in the draft but he can work on his shot. He’s essentially Sochan but way better defender and way more athletic. He can work on his shot. At that part of the draft he’s worth having as a lock down defensive specialist when needed. Update: As far as first round picks it doesn’t matter they’re all good players in the first round.
Honestly, I think this makes a lot of sense for both clubs if Atlanta is not sold on either Frenchman. Personally I think it would be to get Risarche. I mean he could slip to 4 why risk it and be stock with projects that don't quite fit the bill at either position.
Ya with this draft the players the Spurs will be interested in will likely be going around the 7 - 8 range maybe even lower. Players like Rob, Castle, Cody Williams, Ron Holland. All of those players should be available at that range.
Sarr and Wembanyama both can cover the 3 point line as well as the paint. Sochan at the 3 is concerning but there is Nolan Traoré to pick at point guard in 2025
Well this year Spurs pick Sarr at #4 and Risacher at #8 then as they miss a PG they tank again till 2025 so they draft Flagg and Traoré. After that their record is 82-0 and NBA collapses 💥
What do the Spurs need do they need 2 players maybe, do they need the no. 1 pick which will likely be Risacher or Sarr. Does anyone really want to give up the #1 pick? This year might be the only year to give it up.
On a solid Draft I'd be ok with that trade... But that's not the case for this draft. I really like Alex Sarr but he's far from perfect, he's not Wemby. On 2025 draft he'd probably not be in the top5. Same goes for Zach' Risacher, he's a good 3&d but Zach at #1 is a reach, I doubt he'd be top10 in a solid draft like 2025. I don't think they are that much difference this year between #1 and #4. Giving up #8 pick just to take #1 looks really bad imo.
Addressing 2 needs is better than addressing just one. If any trade partner makes sense its Portland. Picks 7 & 14 For Pick #4 and take choice between Malaki Branham or Keldon Johnson
Teams with picks 5-7 don't really need a PG so Spurs aren't in a hurry at #4 : any PG who falls to #4 likely falls to #8. Spurs should use their #4 to pick a 3nD wing instead. If they have no interesting PG at #8, they can pick a backup center and trade for a PG after that... or wait one year more with Tre Jones as a starter and chase Traoré in the next draft. They don't want to be a contender this year, just a play in or play off team. If they get rid of Collins and Keldon plus forget Sochan at the lead and give Wemby 4-5 minutes more, it will be enough.
If we can get Sarr, I want him in a Spurs jersey. From an athletic standpoint, he reminds me of David Robinson, even down to his shooting form (whether he's got the character of The Admiral is a question I'm sure the Spurs would like to find out before trying to trade up). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G456sRy6660.htmlsi=wVyF5d5-MAA_Q2ja Sochan should be playing SF anyways, and rather than experimenting with him running the point, we should be experimenting with making him shoot more 3s to get his accuracy up. I think there's a world where Atlanta wants pick 3 (to guarantee either Risacher or Clingan) and one or more of their future first picks back, where Houston wants the 4th pick, and to make a trade for Murray, and the Spurs want Sarr and to try to keep the 8th pick this year for a PG (Castle, Dillingham, Topic). Almost every draft class has a HoFer in it. Notably the 2000 draft class doesn't and was considered one of the worst draft classes ever, and neither did the 1951 draft class (I'm excluding draft classes less than 20 years old since they still are going to have players not yet eligible).
You telling me risk the pick we got from the raptors of Jakob poetl to take the best player available in this draft. Ina heart beat most teams only have one pick in the first round let alone the number 1 pick and your choice of the pack.
You can add Risacher who could fall to #4. Sure Sarr won't. Not obvious Cody will be a very good option with #8. Holland or Sheppard would be if they are available.
I don't think it's worth it because there could still be some worthwhile dudes at 8, depending on how the draft goes. I've seen mock drafts with Castle/Topic at 8 and that would be great value. You can't predict how all the picks in between will go so it's a gamble
Rich, Spurs may go for this and it makes sense. #1 pickis paid like 10 mil per year. If Spurs have 4 & 8 in a questionable draft then between the two players may pay like $17 mil per yr combined. Why not go for the one player (Sarr, Richaser) you will be happy with and financially is better for the Spurs. Spurs can offer a second rounder included. Atlanta is able to take some sting from last trade by getting two lottery picks. They csn keep them or trade away. In the meantime the Spurs could sign Chris Paul on teo year deal or sign Tyus Jones for two years (he is a capable three point threat unlike Tre). Trading up makes sense as Spurs at a minimum will have two first round picks in 2025 and possibly four.
Hi Rich! The talent in this draft is uncertain. No real #1 franchise lottery talent. My advice is stay at #4,#8. If there is an offer to trade for an established young vet, pull the trigger. I like the idea of Sarr but he did not produce a lot in 1 yr at Australian NBL. Pass there. Thanks
It would be awesome if we can see Wemby and Sarr and Risache play together in France 🇫🇷 so we can see how they flow together. Too bad the 2024 Olympics starts a whole month after the NBA draft. Perhaps they will be practicing together this month? Let’s see some footage Paris!
Naaah not worth it 2 for 1 even if its a number one pick now if it was for wemby last year i'd do and look it paid off Wemby is clearly no bust but i dont get that same vibe from Sarr ive seen his highlights and replays hes good but i dunno about great but if its wemby just giving a hint of trying to get Sarr then im with what Wemby decides we are building around him! So i guess we'll see in 3 weeks!
If we can get Risacher I’m all in with trading up. I can’t believe I’m saying this but if not Risacher the best scenario will be Reed Shepard and Tidjane Salaun at 8. I wouldn’t mind trading up our 8th pick for Matas Buzelis either though
