Castle has been my favorite player all year long. I am super stoked that he is become a favorite to be picked by the Spurs. Now all I just have to worry about is that Atlanta, Washington or Houston might decide to draft him.
Most important things probably are * winning mentality, work ethics, IQ * versatility * upside of course I agree with you Rich, Dillingham and Sheppard look more like interesting 6th men in today's NBA. After 478 hours of brain torture, I think the best picks at 4 would be Castle or Risacher. I'd be happy with a combo Castle - Salaun for example. Seems people see more or more Salaun as the possible biggest potential of this draft and Victor seems to like him, he said he was a crazy hard worker.
@@arnodil5325 Castle has a lot of upsides and would be a worthwhile punt in this draft. I think the same can be said for every player in the lottery this year. My feeling is that the ceiling of this draft is, at best, maybe an all star or 3rd option on a team. With that in mind i would be going into this draft looking for players that have a single strength that could make them a solid role player, 6th man or specialist/impact off of the bench player with high character and work ethic. Having the 4th and 8th pick is a great opportunity to basically give Wemby one to just pick a guy he wants on the team and the other should be used for a wing that can shoot and move well, another big or a SG. Essentially the Spurs should be focused on stretching the floor on the offensive end and building defensive length and switchability with their picks. A guy like Tristen Newton at guard in the early second round if you want a guard specifically given that none of the other guards in the lottery are really worthy of their projected pick.
Spurs are finally in a position of power. Two picks in the top ten and already a promising young core with Wemby AND plenty of cap space. We're gonna be good as long as we don't do something dumb
I'm 100% on board with getting castle I would get him in #4 it's difficult to think he'll be available in #8 and definitely have him on pg that's a need for us holland at 8th
Wemby's last rookie year could be the time we wanna give it a shot to shock the Western Conference. For now, wish we could team up for the start 5 and the second team positions piece by piece, brick by brick. Yep, patience is a virtue, and it's also a beautiful progressing adventure. ☺

I'd be happy to take Castle at 4 and Salaun at 8. I'm personally higher on Salaun than Risacher. Will be very interesting to see their measurements because Salaun looks massive and there has been rumours about him having grown from 6'9" to 6'11" during the season. Ps. Much love from Finland! Rich using stats on his channel nicely done sir. I think this draft is “Spursy”, and this draft is setup perfectly for our Spurs, they just really got to hit just as perfect as it is setup. If they draft well, veterans will come. 😂 all “Field of Dreams”
I say we go all Huskeys, Clingan at 4 and Castle at 8. Clinging can start right away, Wimby moves to the 4 spot, Sohan to the 3, and Castle starts at Point by the all-star break. Our Defense would be solid and scary.
If Castle is that good defensively and can run the team at PG, draft him at #4. As a big guard, he is on SGA, Luka, Booker. At #8, draft the best available wing, big.

Risacher and Castle could be possible, though Castle will probably be gone at 8. 8:32 In that case I'd like Cody Williams or even Nikola Djurisic (sleeper riser). Castle makes more sense at 4 for Spurs needs. Great coverage ! Thanks
We agree on so much! Yes, it sound like Castle would be a good fit for the Spurs. My only regret is the outside shooting. I wish that every starter was an outside scoring threat to keep the defense honest, but that is not realistic. I just compared regular season team stats for FG%, 3P%, and 2P% between the Spurs, TWolves, Nuggets, and Celtics. We are right there with the TWolves and Nuggets, but a couple percentage points behind Boston in all 3 categories. Still, better than I expected, so maybe our PG doesn't have to be another Steph Curry!
That's why there will always be one and only Steph Curry... Dame tried and failed, Trae tried and failed, Garland is still trying, and nowhere near him at the same age.
Having 2 non shooters is a bad move and they already have sochan. They were only not too far behind in 3 percentage because of Tre’s second half of the season shooting and if you replace that with a non shooter, like the first half of the season, you go on a historically long losing streak

I would be happy with Castle with the 4th pick and with either Holland or Dalton Knecht with the 8th pick…ESPN had the Spurs selecting Dalton Knecht with the 8th pick in their latest mock draft…If this is the way things fell for the Spurs on draft night I would be very happy…This team needs defense and scoring and these two picks would address both issues and improve the team immediately…Can you do a draft profile for Dalton Knecht #GoSpursGo
I like Castle at #4, one of the French guys (Risacher or Salaun) at #8. You should do a video speculating what the Spurs are gonna do with #35 and #48. I think if they’re able to get their ideal guys in the lottery, these two picks are as good as traded (unless they are able to find another “gem” or two as per usual)
Another possibility Tyler Kolek 6-3. Per NBA Draft Room "he’s got an elite feel for the game and a very high skill level. Has an uncanny ability to score in the lane, using great angles and timing. Kolek is a special passer with awesome court vision. He runs the offense well, operates ball screens with good feel and is a true facilitator and leader on the floor. He’s also a really good 3pt shooter who is even better in the clutch."
If we go through our #4 and #8 picks and don't have Topic or Dillingham, Spurs should trade their 2nd round picks and move up and grab Kolek, probably in the 24-30 range. One of the Knicks picks(#24 or #25) should suffice. If for some reason he's gone grab Dunn. We gotta find a way to stop offensive beasts like Booker, Murray, Ant Man, Doncic, SGA, Curry, Fox, Leonard/George, Maxey, Tatum/Brown, Mitchell, Halliburton and Banchero. Castle, Dunn and Holland appear to be the best in this draft for that.
Hey Rich. You should look into Garwey Dual I really like his feel for the game and his defense. He’s 6’4” with a 7ft wingspan and a good handle on the ball. He might go back to school but he could go in second or undrafted.
The way the League is going or thinking of pace in the game, will have a huge affect on this draft. Befor the playoffs and during the game has slowed down and is showing a main part of the game ... Defense... If the Spurs get lucky and pass all the maddness of talk , they will find the best point guard available at 4 ... Castle by far is the best defender in this class for guards . Reed is the best shooter by far... And Dilly ooh man can he create... So pick our poison... BUT I HAVE TO RANT. Tons of shooters in this class loom for them .... But Edey is without shoes 7'3 300 pounds and moves as fast or faster then Emid Joker Gobert lLopez .. etc , and when the game slows down which it Always does ... He is A rebounding get out the way back to the basket not gonna Miss point Blank mid shot specialist... Yes u not gonna start him right off if he doesnt know the stystem or players, but he is a gym rat , a mature young man who can shoot at 7'3 ... Not 6'11 or 7 '1 with shoes .. with short arms ..or slow.... Like other exSpurs centers. There are enough hidden gems in this draft to make me laugh that we be ok no matter the spot.... But stop sleeping on Edey. I wanted Spurs to draft Naz Reid , Duncan Robinson, Halibourton, Coby White... And last year Podi, ... When we didnt get podi i knew and wore two french alien mask to the airport cause i know siddy would come.... So from Alien in the Mask 👽... Yell Edey for the Spurs over and over again
Whoever skips on drafting Sheppard is going to seriously regret it. Kings drafting Bagley levels of regret. Oh, and he just so happens to be the most 'spursy' player in this draft.
We need size, if it as a point or or wing, we got destroyed last year with our lack of size, our 6'5" and smaller guards are just too small at times, and we keep drafting them over and over, but like with Murray and White, a 6'4" or taller point like Castle is an intriguing idea!
If the Spurs want to save money they can get his team mate true PG Tristan Newton. He’s a walking double double. He’s 23 and that’s the reason teams are going to let him drop to the second round. Crazy
@@Lab-Rat I have nothing on him except draft combine and uconn stat. 1/ Castle is 6'5.5" without shoes (6'9" wingspan), but Tristan Newton is in fact 6'3.25" (6'6.75" wingspan) 2/ 41.5 / 32.1 / 80.8 doesn't look very promising for a 23 years old playing against younger guys...
stephon castle plays just like cam whitmore. He'll be a good player but the spurs should prioritize a guard like dillingham first or risacher if he's still on the board.
I feel like the best Comp for Castle right now is either Marcus Smart or Okoro... I mean not bad in a small year, but you can kind of see his ceiling already unless he can have a miracle jump in play-making skills and shooting %. Tbh this draft is just weak, everyone has some serious holes in their game.
As he said he didn't play his true pos. He sacrified himself. You don't know his playmaking as a PG, as his ceiling... It's like comparing the Fine offense/defense from Wemby at 4, with the Dominance at 5... Wemby at 4 was not ROY... I have issue with his shooting tho... I really hope if Spurs draft him the other pick will be at the very least 36+% shooter from 3P. But at least he have D, where Topic have old-school PG skill with a long neck... @@Leo-nc3yx true... They already have plenty of "project" who can't shoot (hoping for improvement) But ceiling =/= atm. I don't know his ceiling , I just know atm he's a poor shooter. You can't know his ceiling as a playmaker because you didn't see him at his true pos. But if Spurs have no choice but to take another project (guy who can't shoot) ideally at #8 He's probably the (only) one I'd be ok with.

Wiz are run by two guys from the Presti tree. A fair number of fans on Wiz blogs want Castle at #2. I think they would listen to offers if 4 and 8 are on the table-- at least they would get Holland or Risacher out of it.
I like castle as well. Could be like a Mike Conley/ Tony Allen type of player. Build a team like the twolves, and nuggets. You need defense and shooting
If Risacher is at 4 we need to talk him, but I wouldn't be mad at Castle. We need help in both areas and I just hope when we look back on this draft in 3 or 4 years that we picked correctly.
If the Spurs want to draft a good second squad for the future and save money and go all in for 2025 draft they should get Tristan Newton his teammate a true PG, Ryan Dunn, and Baba Miller. These dudes are beasts on defense and two of them can shoot lights out while Ryan really can shoot and they all are play makers, great passers perfect for Spurs ball and great finishers. Just sayin if they want to put all their eggs in the 2025 draft I recommend these guys. For this 2024 draft

Risacher >>>> Salaun. Salaun is very very very raw. ATM he's a liability on offense. He might become good (he's very young) but it's really a pure gamble.
@@aspleen1102 actually Risacher is > Salaün, but for me, Salaün is our best young French player.. He is younger, but has probabaly better mental and better capacities, big agressivity, exceptionnal physic and works so hard than Wemby. And more, recently, Wemby said he would play with him again. I think they are Friends since they was juniors. 🇨🇵
@@aspleen1102 there is an other exceptionnal French player who could be a good choice for Spurs too, it's Melvin Ajinça.. Nobody speaks about him but he as an enormous potential too.. Why not... Pay attention to him..
While Dillingham has real enticing star upside, Castle is the safe bet. Has a real chance to be Derrick White or DJ-type player. Pop will love him from Day 1. He won't need to be a full-time facilitator because the Spurs let everyone bring the ball up to make plays, including Wemby. But he'll probably have to start by coming off the bench until his outside shot gets better.
UConn fan here.. Castle is a play creator and a play finisher. he was the 5th option on the best offensive team in college basketball within the last 25 years or so. he wasn’t able to show off his offensive capabilities because of this. he could truly suprise a lot of people of how good he will be.
I would take Risacher at 4 and take castle/Sheppard/Dillingham at 8..however if richacher is gone...I'll take Castle/Toppin/Dullingham at 4 then Holland at 8
I really dont like Topic and Holland as draft picks. Castle would fit great, now you would have 3 great defensive players. You can take a more offensive prone guy at 8.
As a Spurs fan myself, I would be happy with any one of these FOUR SCENARIOS on draft night: - Ricasher with the #4 pick + Knecht with the #8 pick - Ricasher with the #4 pick + Castle with the #8 pick (even though this one seems highly unlikely) - Castle with the #4 pick + Knecht with the #8 pick - Castle with the #4 pick + Saluan with the #8 pick I would be a happy man if we ended up with one of those choices.
Based on the information I have seen and heard Risacher is going either number 2 to the Wizards or number 3 to the Rockets so if I were you I would try to temper your expectations about Risacher being drafted as a Spur at number 4 or 8
Crazy thing is his team mate Tristen Newton PG is just as good he’s a walking double double but the fact that he’s 23 teams are shying away. Golden State seems to be ready to pull the trigger and draft this champion.

I feel that the Spurs want Risacher but getting him at 4 is not likely especially with how he’s been playing. Realistically I wouldn’t mind getting Castle at 4 and Cody Williams at 8. We need size in todays NBA the “small ball” era is over.
If we draft castle at 4 that’ll prob mean we don’t go for a rob dillingham at 8 maybe we take a Matas B./Dream scenario risasher at 4 Castle 8 but he won’t drop that far.
The small factor on Rob shouldn't be an issue. Lot of small guards dominating now. Isn't he bigger than trae young? The anticipation in this draft! I'm so ready! 😅
@@Abdul95Rachman maybe he had a pebble in his sock for the ".5" 🤐 Serisouly: Building muscle is the easiest thing to improve in the NBA (if you have a good work ethic) I don't mind light frame like him or Cody Williams as a prospect. Anyone can bulk up, but not everyone can become an elite shooter.

...with 4th pick I would get risacher or buzelis...then draft dillingham topic or castle with the 8...I think the Spurs should trade there second round picks and there own first next season and keldon to get the Pistons 5th overall pick...three top 8 players in this year's draft... risacher buzelis and a pg with the 8th pick...I think Detroit will do it...cause they'll get two picks in next year's draft there own and the Spurs pick...
Why not. A good shooter with Knecht (who is not a liability on D, but nothing more) and a very good D with Castle (who need to improve his shooting) That could work.
I hope spurs don’t trade for Trae or dejounte ….. Wemby is a year in let’s give it a try to build around if things aren’t looking promising by the middle of year 3 or 4 then we start looking for a trade that’s just my opinion
I agree with that. Future is the key word. There may be future all-stars in this draft, but it's anybody's guess who they will be. Probably second round players.
There's another French guy, Zacharie Perrin. Depending on where you look his height is anywhere from 6-9 to 6-11. He's a year older than Risacher. From the NBA Draft Room Page this is what they say about him: " Perrin is a high energy forward who impacts all aspects of the game. The former Illinois recruit has a solid frame and is a naturally strong player who isn’t afraid to throw his weight around. He’s also a decisive and quick mover, screener and cutter who always looks like he knows what he’s doing on the court and makes good, quick decisions. He’s not an elite level athlete or above the rim player but is very crafty, tough and skilled. He’s got a decent perimeter shot, can face-up and beat his man off the bounce and gets above with rim with his size and length." If Risacher is gone by the eighth pick, maybe this guy could be the consolation prize.
I like it, He's ready to hurt his draft stock just to play on a team who need a PG. You know he's not here for the bag 💵. He's here because he think he can impact winning as a starting PG. Better your draft pos. is, better you get paid. If he's ready to go down for that reason, that's a very good sign. But if Spurs draft him the other pick need to be a shooter... Spurs can't continue beeing one of the worst shooting 3P in the league! Castle + Topic or holland would be completely *stupid*
I don't think we are starting any rookie in this class right away. Second unit, maybe. I think it's highly unlikely we draft anyone who is better than Tre, Julian, or Jeremy right out of the gate.

Get Castle @4 and Edey @8 both players are NBA ready on day one but can still grow their game. Also they both have a competitive spirit to close or equal to Wemby! All Defense Team!
From what I've seen, I'd love him on our Spurs, but I heard that he said he will refuse to be drafted or play for a team that won't make him the starting PG right away. If that's true then imo, he sounds entitled and has an attitude problem, like the nephew...
