Thank you SJ I was waiting for this video. I was wondering about the liners.

The liners are definitely not LC200N. But I carried it for 10 days and it went swimming with me every time. I wouldn't worry about it. However...from a pure "practical" POV the frn models...like your UKPK of the Pacific Salt knives are even better. But then again...this one is pretty cool. the only thing i would do, if i ever get around to it...i would like to get some better scales..micarta maybe....it would be so much better

Good review. I like your strop.

Thank you. I have a few strops which I kept over the years. Most of them I gave away to friends. TBH, out of the strops I made, with BRKT Compound, I have 2 left.

LC200N is the steel I can keep most sharp most of the time, quite like 1095 but on the opposite spectrum in terms of composition. My two sharpest knives are infact usually my ESEE 3 and my Spydiechef. Edge retention is quite overrated IMHO.

@@tacticalcenter8658 don't get me wrong I do value edge retention to a point, but for example S35VN is very hard for me to get back to shaving sharp by just stropping it, and unless freshly sharpened it tends to default to a barely shaving sharp most of the time. Yes it stays long that way, but if you value maximum sharpness it's not quite it imho.

I agree. I don't go higher than S35VN. There has to be a healthy relation between edge retention and sharpening effort. If I could choose all my knives would be S35VN or 14C28N even though I still enjoy AUS10(A) and 440C allot. ...depending on what I do with each given knife.

People only talk about Steels and Edge retention etc because of this EDC trend… you ain’t cool unless you have Super F’ing Duper Cuttin Slicin n Dicin Steel. And this particular spyderco 🙄

I 100% agree with that. The effort you put into sharpening vs how long it stays sharp. Especially at a level of sharpness you are happy with. I only have S35vn from Cold Steel and i can't really say anything bad about it so far. I have been playin with 14C28N a lot lately and I really like it. Especially at edge angles below 15 dps.

It seems that the screws in the handle now come in steel color instead of black. I was wondering why that is? Why did they do that? Another question. Do you keep this knife in a pocket/sheath at home ir how do you store it?
@SpartanJohns

For all new "salt" knives now they do that. The screws are steel and the coating helps with rust resistance. At home the knife just sits on a table or in a case or... wherever.... I don't have a special place for them..
