Idk why people bash on the Japan factories, comparing them to the China factory. Keep in mind China and Japan are vastly different. In fact Japan in house manufacturing far succeeds US manufacturing. The only spyderco knives I buy are from the Japan factories. From my experience all the spydercos I’ve recieved from the US factories I’ve sent back due to defects or just straight up cheap feeling. Japan #1 fam

Seki-city may have fit and finish issues but apparently a superior heat treatment compared to American spyderco K390
@tonybranton
@tonybranton Месяц назад
exactly. The Japanese aren't afraid to put a harder treat on their K390s. The Police in K390 G-10 is the hardest K390 of all those tested that I've watched get tested. The Japanese FRNs and then the Americans are softest. Way too soft but the way they flick the blades is hard on them. They're made to cut with. Period. A thin hard blade is easy to break so the fact that the FRNs hold up so well as another testament to Japan's heat treatment.

Spyderco needs to make this in LC200N

Or magnacut! 🤔
@tonybranton

They should! They already have made the salt in two stainless versions. The lc200n is a natural progression in that direction.

The Japanese K390 in these is great as is the Delica4. K390 and zdp189 cut cardboard and plastic at work amazingly well. I have used several k390 dragonfly knives and Delica4s and honestly my zdp189s have been slightly better for me. I have lots of these and the g10 full liner ones and use them to cut trim and facia on new pickup trucks for grille guard mounts and of course opening boxes and cutting plastic strap and I even cut jounce bumpers off a new Toyota that was getting air bag air springs. The zdp189 still shaved after cutting the almost 2 inch square rubber overload jounce bumpers off the truck’s leaf springs.

I've used my ZDP-189 Dragonfly 2 for years to cut various materials and it's still shaving sharp! 👍

The Dragonfly is one of the best little knives. I do wish it had a deep carry clip though. Steel wise - it is nice when these little/light use knives hold edge for a long time, but since they usually don’t get to be used super often, a more stain resistant blade would make sense to me. Still - I think it is cool that Spyderco offers it also in k390

I agree because with this knife it could honestly be 8cr and I wouldn’t feel the need for anything better. I feel like the dragonfly is one of those knives that I will own multiple of in the future. Thanks for watching

This is one of the craziest knife videos I've ever started to watch....4 minutes in and you've told me about 8 things you will talk about later...and it rusts. Chaotic.

Dragonfly 2 wave is my first spyderco, love it. Try to make it as a 2nd knife and my pm 2 as the 1st knife but the fact is the dragonfly always be my 1st knife😁

Curious about what your job is? I used to have a bad weather job where my only cutting was paper and plastic. I was installing radon mitigation systems.

It's great when open, but getting there is pretty awkward for many hands. I had to exchange it for a Delica. Pity, it's small but very ergonomic. Just don't try to open it with one hand.

You certainly do “ramble on a lot.” I’ve never had a lockback on a knife fail. The only failures that I’ve experienced were on liner lock knives. I bought 2 Dragonfly2 knives in VG10 and one hasn’t been out of its box yet because the other is indestructible and having so much fun being a knife..!!

I know I will get a lot of hate for this comment, but it is what it is. Spyderco raised prices by 30-40%, but their quality control dropped drastically. Given that it is 2022, at least they could upgrade their cheaper versions from 8cr13mov to 440C steel. Personally, I had the same problem as you, that I had movements in the blade because it was not locking properly. I don't think I can recommend Spyderco anymore considering the price and quality ratio, even though I'm a big Spyderco fan.

Seems like a good knife. I opted for the ukpk in s110v and I'm liking it so far. If you like axis locks have you checked out the ultra xr?

Is that a Sog? If so I have tried the terminus XR, but never the ultra. Thanks for watching

Just got one of these. Initially, it was like yours, with the blade decentered to the left almost identically. After fiddling around a bit, I discovered that loosening the clip screw and then wrangling the tail of the FRN handle a little has brought it into perfect centering. As if some stress had been set into to the handle during assembly. I didn't have to force the blade over whilst re-tightening the screw or anything. And it's held its position through multiple deployments. Might work with yours! Haven't sharpened it yet but will be interested to see how it feels on the stones compared to my Chaparral's CTS-XHP. Nice detailed review, by the way.

My personals: Dragonfly 2 - VG-10 - Full Serrations, Delica 4 - VG-10 - Partial Serrations, Endura 4 - VG-10 - Plain Edge, Native 5 Salt - LC200N - Plain Edge, Native 5 Salt - LC200N - Full Serrations, PM3 Lightweight - CTS BD1N - Plain Edge Coated, Ladybug Salt Hawkbill - H1 - Full Serrations .....if I could keep 2 it would be Native 5 Salt plain edge and Dragonfly 2. This is with full outdoorsman experience im all weather and every day carry use like boxes and carving. One thing I will say about VG-10 is don't drop it if you don't appreciate chipping blades.

I just ordered my second spyderco. There was a one day sale. My budget was just short of a sexy green endura 4:( but I did order a dragonfly at a slight discount. Two days later I received a tax rebate cheque..if sooner I could’ve snagged the endura at a great discount. Hopefully I’ll still appreciate the dragonfly. I appreciate your comment. You have a few spideys and seem to like your dragonfly. And yes I got it in vg10

@@michaelgeorge5197 You won't regret a dragonfly. Can literally carry it on you 24/7 without any discomfort, and it can open 100 boxes or skin a deer before it needs to be resharpened.
