Amazing. I got a Tandy computer chess board that had lights on the sides to tell the player how to move back in the 80s. That's how I learned about the en passant. The lights moved in weird ways. This, though, is fascinating.

I just got this one today and love it! One thing though - at first it wouldn’t connect to my Bluetooth but after remaining logged on and just turning the machine off and back on it happened to install latest app update. And after installation, it immediately connected to my Bluetooth! And worked smoothly

I recently ordered one! Is the speed any faster of the pieces moving in the video or is it the same by chance?

@@fainacan it’s roughly the same. To me , I don’t think it’s super slow nor super fast. It’s a normal average speed.

Do you know if the latest firmware version includes the computer resetting the board on its own? And if so, does it work as well as a Milton Bradley Grandmaster ? Thanks for sharing.

if I remember correctly, I showed this in one of the later videos I did. I thought it worked pretty well but my board has developed a curious issue as it loses track of the pieces in the middle of games. It could be just me being unlucky. Maybe the updates will fix this too. Not sure

I remember the app having a setting for that. Actually I just checked. If you go to Square Off app, app settings, you can turn the sound effects off, change theme, and change screen on settings

when I tested it, I don't think it had this feature but really shouldn't be hard to add it. They may have already. I have not tested the latest firmware or updates yet but I will

you may be able to find it used on eBay or Facebook . You never know. Some people just want to get rid of it because they don't have any use for it.

@Gadgetify I have been looking but prices are still pretty high, even for used ones. Also I can't find someone willing to deliver it to me since I dont drive and cant go to where they are to pick it up.

@@MrRedKing may want to check the newer versions too. They put two new boards on Kickstarter. One for Blitz, much faster. One allows for checkers and other games. I will review them as soon as I get my hands on one :)

If they're holograms, how would you move them? Voice activation is the only thing that comes to mind. Wouldn't be the same in my opinion

@@vanno8185 I have covered a lot of chess robots on this channel. I love collecting chess boards :) Phantom Force, Excalibur Mirage, Fidelity Chesster, Fidelity 6100, Square Off. I also have a Novag 2Robot but I am working to fix it before showing it here :)

I personally wouldn't purchase from this company. I ordered a chessboard from them and have been attempting to get someone, anyone, to reply to my requests to return. No one has responded, and they give you 30 days to return it for a refund. My guess is that they don't respond to requests for return so your 30 days runs out and they steal your money. Honestly, this feels like a scam company, and the only recourse I have is commenting on every RU-vid video warning potential buyers of their unethical business practices.

I don't think it is a scam. I think they are a small team and maybe that's why. I had no problem with their Kickstarter. But I can't say what they have done since. I know they announced new boards but have they shipped? Not sure. My dealings with these guys was the Kickstarter project I backed and they delivered. I always use PayPal and if any company doesn't respond to my request for return, I just go through them. Once you open a case with PayPal, usually most companies just refund and don't bother wasting your time.

I tried to order off the website also and couldn’t, in the end I bought one on eBay. I don’t think it’s a scam although the thought crossed my mind also. I agree with the other poster that it’s probably just a small team without much customer support and stuff.

@@sturmanaskie Yup. I don't order from them directly. I ordered one of those new rollable boards and they just didn't ship on time. I cancelled and ordered somewhere else. ChessHouse and all these other places have and ship these.

I enjoy both to be honest. There was a time when I hated playing online but after so much time on Lichess and Chess.com, it's just become normal. I do prefer playing on a real board once in a while.
