In this video, we'll do a deep dive into setting up, managing and selling events on your Squarespace 7.1 website.
One thing I didn't mention in this tutorial is the calendar block. You can add a calendar block to any page and link it to your events so visitors can scroll see and see which dates you have events on. Just a little extra tip if you want to add a calendar to your Squarespace events page.
If you have any questions, let me know. :)

Thank you so much! I was all kinds of confused and you answered so many questions! One more... if I'm hosting a series, should I just input the first date and then indicate the other dates in the text? I set it up to "start" on the first day and "end" on the last day of the series, but I wondered if that would convert oddly if they added it to their google cal. If you have any thoughts, I'd appreciate hearing! Thanks again!

This was so helpful. I'd like to sell electronic tickets for events... so when someone buys a ticket for my event on my Squarespace site, how do they receive the ticket?

Thank you, great video. Frankly I'm shocked at how little possibility there is to edit the way the event list is presented. I've seen all the options and I was looking for something better. Squarespace could do better in this area. Do you have any tips for how to make a more enticing presentation of all the events - maybe with some integration or something? Thanks again for the video.

agree with this - also, from an SEO stand point, I've noticed the past events created are indexing on Google. Squarespace doesn't have an option to disable SEO for these past pages. You run into this too?
@Barrrt

@@JonathanTrang No but I (still -.-) havent launched the site with which I'm working with the events module. A fix would be to turn off the event? Good luck

HI Chloe - super helpful, how would I pull the top say three events onto my home page ?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 5 месяцев назад
Hi Susie, there's a few ways you can do this. You can design 3 blocks any way you link and link buttons to the event page. You could also pull in a summary block and link that to the events page.

Hi, Chloe! This video was really helpful - although I'm trying to create a registration page for a free online event - how can I create the sign up without having them have to pay? Would I have to integrate some other program?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 5 месяцев назад
Hi Shannon :) You could make the event a free product on your website or have registrants sign up for an email list. This would allow you to set that up. Hopefully that's helpful.

Hello! Do you know if it's possible to display the past events?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 5 месяцев назад
Yes :) If you click into the page displaying events > click on Edit Section, you'll see a toggle to turn past events on.

When you put an event on as a product, does it charge taxes to your customers?

I haven't been able to find it. Do you know if there's a way to create an event template? We have a weekly event and it would be nice to have a template for it so that I don't have to create it from scratch every week. Thanks!
@Barrrt
@Barrrt 3 месяца назад
I'd say you can at least duplicate the event each time (go to Manage Events on the events page, and then select the three dots next to the event you want to duplicate and press duplicate). Good luck.

@@Barrrt Wow! Thanks! Don't know how i missed this.
@Barrrt

@@mistawinta Well I gotta say Squarespace doesn't have the most intuitive interface for events, so it's not weird that you missed this IMO. I think the whole thing is kinda limited and outdated - why would you have to duplicate and event rather than set up a template? I still love squarespace so I'm trying to make it work just like you! :)
@mistawinta

@@Barrrt Absolutely. And I concur with your other comment about their lack of events templates. It's ridiculous that there aren't more options for the layout. Their UI is not great either. Kind of crazy for the service they offer. I got hired on for a website redesign, and the company wanted to stick with squarespace, otherwise I probably would have moved over to wordpress. However, squarespace's site builder is pretty good (except for the events page, obviously); so I have to give them that.

@@mistawinta I think their Events module is lagging behind a bit on other aspects of their design system where I'm pleasantly surprised. What really levelled up Squarespace for me was using Squarekicker. I was distrustful at first (because of their ugly logo and unconventional subscription system) but I designed some pretty nifty stuff during the trial period and it allowed me to add some dynamic extras that elevate my current project above normal squarespace stuff. Still, I wish squarespace would think about the professionals more. Or about.. I dunno.. people wanting more than cookie cutter crappy event pages that no one will use with ease or pleasure. Did you see the Summary blocks with filters engaged though? I'm delighted by that because I'm building a page that will have a lot of events and this allows me to create separate overviews per tag. Good luck with your project/site! PS: For me Squarespace is a marketing organization that's pretty much a pyramid scheme to sell overpriced web/design services, but even with all that they are still better than most of the competition for me because I can build a site in no time with the right amount of customizability. I don't mind overpaying for a site I'll actually build rather than postpone, and will actually maintain rather than be scared off or bored to death by the wordpress backend :)

How do we add a recurring event?

There's not an easy way to do this with events other than duplicate. You can do it with Squarespace scheduling. This is an add on feature though.
