Great video! Is there any way in squarespace to have customized page for each customer individually? Example if customer wants to buy pen. I could put offer for each type of pen on their "customer" or "account" page and only for that one customer.

Nice to hear another Scottish accent! I'm thinking of members areas for my teaching site, do you know if you have the option to also have a community area under the membership, as well as access to members only videos?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 2 года назад
Hey!!!! A fellow Scot!!! With Member Areas, you can create member only videos, for sure. No community area unfortunately. I really hope they add this. It's a must. I'd recommend using another platform in conjunction if you wanted to use Member Areas. Mighty Networks, Facebook Groups and Circle are all popular options. Hope that helps! Great channel btw. Congrats on breaking the 1K mark. :)

Hi Chloe. Great video. Do you know if Squarespace can do member content, that displays on a free-member page? I want to create a membership that allows paid members to fill out a form which displays their services to free members.

Thanks Chloe we signed up as this seems to be a great add on to our squarespace. Appreciate your easy instructions as it was as intuitive as we thought it would be. Any idea for a monthly group using subscription how much content the space will hold? We want to build community.
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk Год назад
The limits would be around video content. If you are embedding a loom or vimeo it's fine but if you are uploading using Squarespace, they have surprisingly low limits depending on the plan you choose. The highest plan has a limit of 50 hours which isn't a lot if you are creating a lot of content over time. support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050832771-Member-Areas-pricing-billing-and-invoices I would say with community, it's not great so there you might want to look to a platform like Facebook groups, circle, slack etc.

Thanks so much for this video Chloë! Couple questions: is there a way to allow members to comment directly on the course page? Kind of like commenting on blog posts? So that you can give them prompts and have them respond within the course page itself rather than a FB group. And secondly, does everyone get their own login, instead of having to have one password for everyone, like we did when creating the course in a password protected page?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 2 года назад
Hey Erin :) Members areas is still pretty basic. For the engagement and interaction, I'd recommend still having a community in FB groups or an alternative like Circle/Mighty networks. On logins, yes! Customers will have their own account and when they purchase their plan, it will appear in their own account. It's a much more secure route.You also get access to those advanced analytics. The passport protect option is a workaround but not ideal from a security or analytics perspective.
@ivyandlight
@ivyandlight 2 года назад
@@chloeforbesk Thanks! I thought that would be the answer on comments/interaction. I'm going to keep my FB groups for engagement for now and trust that Squarespace will add in that option in the near future :)

@chloeforbesk

You can't set up an affiliate option via Squarespace but you can use an alternative. I use affiliatly and Peaches is a popular option too. Great question about members areas. I don't know if they will but I'd love to see a community feature.

I wasn’t sure how the membership area would work for courses but this video really gave me a clear idea to really plan it out. ❤

Hello! thank you for your video!, it was super useful. I have a question in regards of courses. so Do I need to have different Members Areas for each course that I create?, Situation: a client will be shown the course they buy and if they want to have access to the others they need to pay. So how do you just give access to one course each time? Your comments are appreciate.
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 2 года назад
Hi Jessica, You would need to set up a different members area for each course. With members areas, you can set a navigation and it's only going to show members courses they've purchased. If they haven't purchased a course, they will be shown the 'Access Denied Screen' where they will be prompted to login (if they've purchased) or sign up (if they've not purchased. You can edit the Access Denied Screen by clicking on the gear icon next to a member area > scrolling down to 'Edit Access Denied Screen'.

But how do they access it to sign up? I have created all the pages and it never says publish or gives me a way to show it on my website. The Sign-up button is there in my links but no information unless they log in? How do I get them to the membership page?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk Год назад
If you go to Commerce > Memberships. That's where you can set it up. Once it's all set up, you'll still need to add it as an item in your store. That means creating a store then when it asks what you want to sell, select 'membership. That's how people sign up. Once they have signed up, you'll have your membership home page set up and here, they will have a membership navigation. This will add a login link to your website automatically. That's how they log in. I hope that helps:)

great explanation thanks. what's the difference? "member area" (not included in my plan) vs 'sell subs' (which is included in my plan)?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk Год назад
Hi Nicolas, the latter is part of your commerce plan. It allows you to bill clients on a recurring basis. It’s good for service based work. Member areas is more for course creation and membership sites.

Hi Afaron, It's set up a store item. I have a training on Squarespace Commerce that you can access here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cSthIH0qMRU.html Basically, you add it as a new product in store. If all you offer is one course, you don't need to add the store publicly to your website. You can add a product block on any page. It's all here in the commerce training. Hope that helps.

I'm wanting to add individual videos to sell. Is the easiest way through zoom and make a commerce link to purchase or to do a member area and do my videos straight to there?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 2 года назад
Hi Andria, Member areas works with Squarespace Commerce. When you access your store, you will be asked what you want to sell and here you can select Member areas. This is one option. I'd say to consider: - How many videos you are selling - How long the videos are Squarespace has a limit on video upload so it's not idea. One workaround for this would be to embed the video from elsewhere. As for the number of videos, again, Squarespace has a limit of 10 videos so if you plan to sell many, you might want to consider a different option. The different option would be to sell the class as a digital product and give students access to it via email. I hope this helps you decide which option is best for you! :)

Hi Chloë, this was a great tutorial! Does Squarespace members area have a life steaming feature?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 2 года назад
Hi Renee, Unfortunately, they don't have that option right now. What you could do though, depending on the livestreaming platform you are using, is embed the livestream into a page on your Squarespace website. You would grab the embed code from the livestreaming platform. Use the code block and paste it in there. You could then ask students to head to that page to watch the livestream. It's not an ideal solution but could be a good workaround if you'd like to test it out.

Question - when you add videos to a category, can you add other types of content besides videos as well? Like a worksheet as a "Lesson" or a text as a "Lesson" just like a video as a "Lesson"?
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 2 года назад
Absolutely! There's two ways to do this. If you set it it up as a Video collection, you can only add text so it's a bit limited. What you would do here is link out to a worksheet stored somewhere like Google Drive. You don't have to set your member areas up as a video collection. You can set it up using the portfolio collection option. This is what I did when testing. It gives you a lot more freedom because you can edit each page as you would any other. This means you could add your video, description, buttons that can link to downloadable files. It's just a lot more flexible. I hope this helps, Laksman! :)

If you build out a sales paage on squarespace how to you redirect it to the course that you built out or prompt someone to then sign up with their email and password to access the course
@chloeforbesk
@chloeforbesk 2 года назад
Hi Kelly, If you link to the home page of your course, members will be prompted to sign in with their details. You can choose the member's area home page by clicking the gear icon in your navigation and setting that as the home page for the course. You can adjust your course navigation by going to Settings > Member Areas and clicking Member Navigation. Those who have purchased and are signed in will see this. If they haven't signed up or aren't logged in, they will be shown the Access Denied Screen. You can click the gear icon next to your Course Member Area and under the General tab, select > Edit Access Denied Screen. Hope this helps!
