Agree 100%.... I've seen a player with a high end F-Bass running through a Mesa Subway setup and all he did was complain he should have never purchased the bass as he thinks its overrated for the sound he gets....was not happy. I played with it, and so did my guitar player, and it floored the both of us...kind of shut him up. Doesn't matter if you have a $500, or a $5000 bass, you need to have technique !!!
Coop i used to be the one who thought expensive stuff would make me play better. But you turned me around my favorite bass is my squire jazz bass! And my epiphone ! Just practice practice practice! Much love coop!
Today I picked one up off FB marketplace here locally. It was at a house where I had gone to get a Hartke IV bass for $45 then she pulls out a squier V standard P metalic forest green for $100. So glad I had that in my pocket at the time. I cleaned it up tonight and had an amazing time playing it with my loop pedal. I'm still having to learn what woods are used in this. god is above all

Man, I have that exact vintage modified bass. Got it used at Guitar Center, and it plays really well. Gonna throw some new electronics in it when I can. I love the instrument :)
Man I’ve watched so many bass reviews. And it seems like it makes sense to buy used and modify on top of that to my liking. Anything straight off the shelves isn’t going to be the value of your money unless you go into the professional tier of Basses. Which I am still 8 months into learning.
@@11coopbasscooper55 I can't spend too much with the family and all. lol are do you feel the squiers in you video have that same sound? I like the sound of the active preamp with the humbuckers on the contemporary jazz. What's the closest 200-400 range to the pmiller bass? lol
@@GospelMusic4Life No,...I don't feel that they have the same sound. The preamps in them are different. Let me explain. Some bass preamps may have the same bass "HZ's" (HERTZ),... but the decibels are different. You have +/- 12, 15, 18 db, as an example. Higher the db, the loader the preamp. The lower the bass hz number, the stronger the bass. Now the treble khz's can range in area's of 4, 6.5, 7 etc. I have preamps in my squiers that have +/- 12db with 40hz bass and 4 khz treble. Also,...+/- 12db with 40hz bass and 7 khz treble. They don't sound the same. Now you understand? :D
@@11coopbasscooper55 I understand. Thanks for the comment. I currently have an Ibanez 305m from around 2010-2011. I like the sound and feel of the ibanez but thinking whether I should branch out. I don't play bass anywhere but just trying to get beyond beginner level as keys is my main instrument. I've pecked at bass over the years. I thought about upgrading my ibanez but then I could get one of 2 basses for the price of up grading.

Thanks from the UK. I have an Ibanez SR500 I've had for a number of years. I am in a band and when I play it, it sounds OK. I have small, crooked fingers, and bad technique that never gets much better with practice. So, will I spend what to me is a fortune on a Fender Jazz Bass that I might never get to sound really good. Or will I spend a lot less a very capable, and in my opinion, a great looking Squier Classic Vibe? You guess.
Why? If that's a hobby that you are into,...so be it. Some people collect trains, cars, boats planes, hats, "NORMAN ROCKWELL" prints. His paintings cost too much. Sneakers, watches, rings, just to name a view. I'm not a "COLLECTOR". I'm a JAZZ BASS-A-HOLIC!!!!! Lol! Now the difference with me is,...I play all of the basses I own on gigs. Every last one of them. Lol!
Aaaah! Wow! That sucks. Bassist's didn't know that. They didn't know that they where getting some good wood from those Squier basses and they were dogging them out. I pamper mine to this day. Some good wood in those basses. Especially, with a maple neck. Ouch! Thank you for the info. I much investigate. Thanks. : D
Just cancelled a china bass I ordered back in October. I know the pandemic, etc but may as well just order when this stuff is over...kinda annoyed. Now would be a good to sell what basses u be thinking of, hint, hint. Lol! Be blessed fam.

I, Myself, a "Pro" (Meaning I Make MONEY Playing bass) Am Not a "Brand" Freak!! But give KUDOS to the Asian workers!
