Man I`m going tomorrow earlier in the week I bought me a used Mossberg 410 bolt action to see how many Bushy tails I can get . Then when my brother comes over we will go back to the woods and spend the day fishing and cooking the Squirrels . Good video
Nice work. I'll add a tip I was given to keep the hair off the fur much better. Before you start, fill a 5 gallon pail with Luke warm water and throw the squirrel in there for a couple of minutes . This keeps the hair down, far less to pick off meat after. Any hair that gets on your hands or tools can be swished off in the pail while you work.
@@TKOutdoors I'm confident you'll like it. That bucket of water has saved me so much time. Especially when someone joins me hunting and wants me to keep all their squirrels, too. Almost no hair on the meat now.
Awesome video. I recently got my hunters ed certificate. Had been practicing with my savage 22lr. Been in the woods, but never hunted before. Hopefully when small game season starts will go and get some squirrel. I noticed you not wearing orange safety. Is this because is in private land? Any tips for my first small game hunt? Never was able to find a mentor. At my age (36) is kind of difficult to find someone that is willing to take a grown man to the woods and teach him how to be a sportsman. RU-vid has been my virtual mentor, but nothing like getting out there and exploring the woods by yourself. Great videos. Thank you!
Awesome, glad you are getting out there and doing it no matter what the circumstances. RU-vid is a great teacher for just about anything. I was hunting in a small game area in state land that does not require hunter orange. All of my other squirrel videos are on private property. I ha e this same exact issue. I'm 34 years old and just getting into hunting myself. I would have liked to go deer hunting this year, but it's looking real slim. Hopefully I can find a seasoned hunter that will actually go with me next year. And whenever you get the chance to go, good luck.
Was in the same boat last year and decided to just go out and teach myself. Small game is the way to learn. Not much pressure, and much more forgiving. Just read your local regulations for public areas, be safe, and get out in the woods 🪵 . Season is coming back soon here in Florida, been waiting all year! Glad I took the first steps last year, now I am hooked!
Small game is definitely the perfect way to get outdoors and learn hunting. The weapons are cheaper, not much hunting pressure and you can scout/learn bigger game sign while in the woods.
Good grief... it's been 35 or so years since I've had squirrel or dove. Always fun to find that missed piece of lead too. But as much I'd like to shoot a few that got in my roof, city jurisdictions really frown on gunfire.
