Production block. Factory frame rails, braces and sub frame connectors. Any suspension that can bolt in stock location. Roll cage. Would be a good class. Idk how many Cars run around like that. That don't really fit any rules. That was built on weekends to cruise and make passes. Whether it be a hard tire, 28s or 26s class.
@@gregl5677I don’t know bout production block limits as that would make it so your almost have no choice but run an LS motor cause factory gen 1 sbc blocks have a limit of about 550 horsepower once you start hitting the 600-700 horsepower range and it’s not hard to do now an days your going to crack the block or shove the bottom end completely out of it or the common #7 rod coming out the side of the block. Limiting to a factory frame and suspension with a 10 point cage for safety sorta thing like back in the day street raced cars of the 90’s sorta thing wouldn’t be terrible cause no matter how much horsepower you make your going to have to make it work with the suspension you have and unless ya can get it to the ground having 1500 horsepower won’t mean a thing if it’s twisting the chassis all up or blowing the tire off. A block doesn’t alter horsepower it only allows you the ability to make it more reliable.
I'm 61 yrs old & the Nova's, Vegas, Dart's & Dusters, Mustangs, Cougars, Corvettes & a lot of other Hot Rods were some of the toughest Start Cars in the 1980's when I grow up. I drove a 12 second street car for year's, but Todays street car Racing is on a supecharged Level.
I’m roughly Billy’s age and even tho you might hate his choices the little things aren’t worth the argument sometimes, gotta love your family while you can tomorrow comes sooner then we think, grateful for my dad and mom even tho we but heads somtimes. Keep doing what your doing!
That trench digging is something I can relate to even though I didn't actually dig the 350' long trenches for water and power to our sons place up the hill from us on family property. The Camaro is just what you have to run in the wide open world of no prep small tire. Throughout the history of motorsport racing its advancements to go faster and faster. Its either adapt and stay competitive or get left behind. Go fast and be safe. God bless you and your family and friends.
It's just the same it's always been. I bought my 69 Camaro 396/375 brand new. I raced it in stock eliminator for a few years and went to super stock. Then they started allowing narrowed rear ends and 4 links. So a trip to the chassis shop to keep up. Then a pro built motor and a doug nash 4 speed. It's just a progression of who spends the most money and who works the hardest. Good luck with your new car and keep progressing.
I know you gotta be proud of Billy. I think its awesome seeing all the hard work you guys put in paying off. That Camaro chassis is really nice. So excited to see what 2024 holds for yall !
The cage in the Camaro really looks stout and strong, but I just hate to see Billy take the Nova apart after all that work he did getting it to go and go straight and the crank weight bit
Whoa! Now THIS escalated quickly! 😳 No denying the game has moved a long way in a short time, totally understand needing to make a change. Looking forward to seeing this thing come to life!
Bill thanks again for sharing your family friends and a day in the life with us. You have the best family and friends ever. You are truly blessed to have such a great gift
Just FYI Bill we have 4 of those jump packs now and they range in age from 6 years plus to current they all work really well! We use them on the farm to start the tractors and semi (yes it takes more than one to start them from dead) They also make a bigger heavy equipment pack. (lol too heavy for us) Another great video! Love the new camaro!!! Thanks for taking us along!
Looking forward to seeing this come together! That being said, I'd keep that nova. You know the second he starts winning with this camaro, the rules will get changed to require a more stock layout.
Lol! You know you probably hit tha nail on the head ,that would be my luck Anyway,,, But that's whats been happening , Guys start building a car & unless they have a crew of people helping & have all the equipment in house to build it by the time the cars finished the class has progressed so much that they're bran new car is already out of date
It's great seeing you and Billy getting along and making memories that will last. The good thing is you video so much that your grandson will be able to watch.
Truly your roots run deep and you value your family and where you came from, while realizing that the sport is constantly evolving and you can either find a way to stay competitive or be left in the dust. Best wishes with the Camaro. Remember "Camar on over to the Chevy side"
That’s a nice piece. Add a bigger rear anti roll bar and a bigger wing for sure. I agree you need to raise the front strut mounts to allow longer travel front struts. Guessing that thing probably weighs 1800-1900 lbs as it sits? My vote would be to use your 540 and Procharge it. It will 60’ harder, way easier to tune plus the added benefit of downforce if you use zoomies (or a large collector pointed upwards).
The two fastest chassis cars now in small tire neither use anywhere near 10" of front travel. I think the weight reduction and set-back with some more chassis tuning knowledge alone will take away all that need for 14' of front end travelI crap.
the nova staying as a back up for when rules inevitably change is something to seriously consider!!! Also vinyl just rots the paint underneath and is tacky crap. Better to just paint or wrap the top to LOOK like vinyl
Yeah I’ve got a car sitting in my garage that basically needs a complete roof skin replacement it’s rotted so bad from the vinyl top that every pillar and the window frames need rebuilt from scratch
I could never keep a battery pack charged in my shop. Every time I went to grab it, it was dead, no charger at all. So I know your frustration brother.
Jury duty😂 tell them they are all guilty because you can read right through their bullshit and if they weren’t they wouldn’t be in court unless you are Donald Trump😂 Love you guys at OMG and SRC. Thank you for your great content and being great people. Brandon from TN.
11:31 definitely need to RSSS grill with the flip headlight buckets I think he made the right choice with the wheels and I agree on everything you said, except for the vinyl top. That’s a pretty extensive project rescanning the four-door and turning it into a two door post whether it’s really your dad’s or it turns out to be your brothers. I’m sure you’ll make sure it looks good.
Bill, that jump box you were looking at buying, is the absolute shit! I have had one for 10 years and it still will jump a diesel on a cold day. They cost a little bit but are well worth it in the long run. The battery you bought for Vickies truck, I hope that's how I leave this world, Die Hard!
Bill hope you know just how much we appreciate your voiceover work! I know it's probably alot extra work but man does it take your videos to the next level! Thank you!
Those kids are so lucky to have a dad with all that knowledge, skill and learned trade of hot rodding being carried onward. The knowledge the Old Man has and it being passed to his sons and I'm sure they'll pass it on their kids is truly blessing. Can't wait to see The Old Grandpa watching his grandkids burning rubber. Can't forget Uncle Bucko either. Thanks for the fill in the bleeps Bucko. Much respect to the whole Hoskinson family!!!!!!!!
Hi Bill , just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experiences and life with all of us , as a father figure I think your awesome and I just pretty much started watching your RU-vid show. I appreciate all that you do Tony Johnston.
I'm in Lincoln county Montana!! 😂 when they sent me jury duty summons, I sent them a letter telling I was prejudiced because I spent time in their jail and there's no way I would want anyone else to have to spend time in that nasty s*hit hole and medical reasons. Seeing you guys get to spend time with your family so close has me wanting to move south so I can physically hug my brother and be closer to my family. Isolated in the mountains of Montana for 25 years has me longing for home. As well as the college football season. ROOOLL TIDE ROOOLL ❤🐘 I know you're a Ohio Buckeyes
The 3rd car I helped build was a 67 RS/SS with factory tilt steering. Those flip open headlights were air powered if memory serves me. She was a beast, ran a 10.002 1/4 with a broken main.
I can't wait till the shenanigans start next spring or even during the winter down south Love the old man's garage SRC and Gen 2 awesome awesome content thank you so much Bill Vicky is the boss Bill 😅
I love the 1st gen. Camaros!! I had a 69 Camaro SS back in the early 80's when I was 16!! I loved that car!! The biggest mistake I ever made was selling it & the 67 C10 I bought with my own money when I was 15. When I sold them I said to myself, "no problem I'll just buy them again when I'm older & have more money." Well I'm 57 yrs old & still haven't been able to replace them!! Life got in the way!! 😅😅 Actually I guess you could say death got in the way seeing that I've nearly died 6 times & I'm permanently disabled. I'm still not giving up on my dreams of building both of them! I'd love to have them painted in similar paint schemes so that they match when hauling the Camaro SS on the trailer!! Congratulations Billy for that gorgeous 68!! I can hardly wait to see it running and making hits!!I love the 1st gen. Camaros!! I had a 69 Camaro SS back in the early 80's when I was 16!! 😮😮The new Camaro is fuckin badass and I'm not even a GM guy..heaven forbid 'Ol man I'm a dyed in the wool Ford guy.lol. That aside great content as always.I've followed both channels since day one.
So they say if you can’t beat them, join them. No matter what happens in small tires I think you guys will do just fine with that Camaro, and the black bumpers would really look awesome with a black vinyl top.
Just explain to them you know what jury nullification is and that you’ll tell the other jurors too. They’ll send you packing. If you don’t know what it is, a quick google search will do. But basically, you’ll vote your conscience no matter what the law says and whether they’re guilty or not.
Man,I wish y'all was my neighbors... If definitely be your favorite employee for real... never had nobody to teach me,but always had a craving to learn mechanics and have gained so much knowledge on my own through various avenues , having a place with y'all would be a dream,I spend all my extra time learning anything and everything I can about what I'm into, just wish I could get some people around me to share what they know,I ain't so lucky 🙄
Don’t get rid of the nova that’s a memory of the start put a good tarp over it and put it in the corner of the garage one day billy you can help your son wrench on it great video guys thanks for sharing
Man, I have to admit, I love Billy and the fam, but Old Man is killing it with content. Good for you "Old Man." Very stoked for this Camaro build. This is going to be a BEAST!
Great video. It always seems when there is a dead battery problem it snowballs into extra innings. Sorry to hear about that horrible bus crash at your exit on I-70 the other day. Made me think about you guys and CJ Buckners high school age daughter. Take Care and God Bless
