Not the result I would like to see from SL Squad on this event. Boys shows lack of an experience in international event like this. SL needs to get more exposure like this to our future Rugby. Well done boys from Western Pennsylvania
Sri Lanka seems lot stronger today because their base is strengthened by that tall Kandy player Rattwatte. He is the play maker who created many gaps for the fast runners. In this game you can see their base is weak without hm. In 7s you need at least 2 or 3 tall physically strong players especially in the middle.
Truth is there are some issues with SL physical strengths. Look at how many tackles are missed as well as lack of fire power to drag their players. Now we have to 2 options to solve this. Either someone must make 7s players professional so they can focus on regular strength development or nourish the hard working players in their early teen so they will have more strengths which is a more expensive but effective business.
According to the coach, Sri Lanka did not have the required fitness level to compete in the big stage and they will mainly target the Asian sevens. Before that club 7s, Mercantile 7s and Sri Lanka super 7s will give more opportunity to gel up and find new players for the coach.
yeah that's what i said too. even wilwara is back after one and half seasons of resting . and whole team is back from the club league . so they didn't had time to prepare . hong kong team was travelling the world for five months so i'm proud of my team . everyone will see wonders from the pearl of indian ocean just wait
I was slightly disappointed with the score gap but it's certainly understandable. Like you said Honk Kong players job is to travel around the world and play 7s. Even Chile frequently participating in these tournaments and they were part of the world series Vancouver event and so many other events just prior to this so they have the exposure. I am sure SLRFU well aware of the things we need to do to get our players to the world stage.
?? There are many people with some sort of British ancestry in Chile, believed to be around 500,000. That doesn't make them "naturalized Chileans". I'm Chilean with German-Jew, Palestinian, French and Spanish/Basque ancestry myself, yet I don't qualify to apply for a German, French, Israeli, Palestinian nor Spanish passport. I still rate myself as Chilean after all. Believe it or not, Chile is also a melting pot in its own style.
Asitha Jay In fact Chile has *ZERO* hired guns and we're very proud of it too. Let teams like Japan and Hong Kong go around the world finding mercenaries to better themselves, as for us chileans, we're 100% home-bred.
